Hey, everyone..Tonight, we have a special episode because we’re introducing a brand new podcast called History Goon, and we have the host of the show on with us to tell us a story. Welcome Kevin, as he takes the lead, and tells us the story. This episode was recorded about 2 months ago.
The 1986FBI Miami shootout occurredon April 11, 1986, in Miami-Dade County, Florida,U.S. (the specific area was incorporated as Pinecrest in 1996), when a small group of field agents forthe FBI attempted to apprehend William Russell Matix and Michael Lee Platt, who were suspected of committing a series of violent crimes in and around the Miamimetropolitan area.
Although they had partially surrounded the suspects after maneuvering them off a local road, the agents involved quickly found their firepower was outmatched by the weapons which Matix and Platt had in their vehicle. During the gun battle which ensued, Platt in particular was able torepeatedly return fire despite sustaining multiple hits.
Two Special Agents died from their wounds, while five other agents were injured by gunfire. The shootout ended when both Matix and Platt were killed.
The incident is infamous as one of the most violent episodes in the history of the FBI and is often studied in law enforcement training. The scale of the shootout led to the introduction of more effective handguns, primarily switching from revolvers to semi-automatics, in the FBI and many police departments around the United States.

Anthony Sowell was a very vicious, but lesser known serial killer. He was the worst serial killer in all of Cleveland’s history, and was dubbed ‘The Cleveland Strangler’ by the media. He had a rough childhood, and was abused by his mother, but he also abused his nieces, sexually. He joined the Marines, and should have stayed there. He was a good Marine. But after he got out, he turned to crack, and startedsexually assaulting women. In 1985, he kidnapped and raped and assaulted a woman who escaped, and he was sent to prison for 15 years for that. When he got out, he went back to his old habits, but escalated.
He had a major heart attack in 2007, and THEN began his killing spree. He killed 11 women between 2007 and 2009….all while using crack and alcohol, WITH a pacemaker. He discarded the bodies in his own home, causing an awful smell, that was blamed on a sausage factory next door to his house.
When he was caught in October, 2009, the bodies were discovered, and Cleveland was in shock.

Charles Bronson is a life long British criminal. He never killed anyone, but not due to lack of trying. He was a menace to society, and had such an infamous reputation that he was shuffled back and forth to just about every prison in England.
He raised hell. His most famous antics were going onto the roofs of prisons, and staying there for days, while causing extensive damage to the rooftop. He wasn’t afraid to fight anyone, and would constantly take on groups of prison guards, as well as inmates. He even took a prison warden hostage! In a rare bout of freedom, he joined an illegal underground bare knuckleboxing ring, and was undefeated.
He was also a gifted artist, and his work has been auctioned off, and donated to charity. He was also great with special needs kids.

Mark Martin had an abusive childhood. He was abusive to his classmates, and it wouldn't take too long for him to wind up on the streets, where he became a bully to the homeless and a drug dealer.
He had a goal. Become Nottingham's first serial killer! He wanted the infamy of becoming a serial killer. So, he did, preying on 2 homeless women, and a woman who was actually sympathetic to the plight OF the homeless. He was a total serial killer wannabe.
He boasted about his murders to anyone who would listen, and even continued boasting in prison. We rip this chucklehead to shreds.

They briefly dated in high school, and separated when they went away for college, to different colleges, but remained friends. The first summer after college, everyone came back home.There was an attack and a murder, but the biggest question was why?

His murder would be unsolved for a year, until Joe did the same thing to Thad Phillips. But, Thad survived, and escaped. That would later survive a shooting. Hey, everyone.. We’re going to Wisconsin to cover a really sick individual named Steven Zelich. He was a sadistic killer, who took BDSM a little too far, and his online screen name was Mr Handcuffs. He was a cop in Wisconsin, who lost his job because of multiple complaints from women, specifically strippers about him stalking them.
But, he soon amped up his routine, grooming women to come to him from other parts of the country to be dominated, and controlled by him.
He was very specific in what he wanted these women to do before coming to him. He basically had them erase themselves from society.
One day, 2 suitcases were found on the side of the road, and they both contained a dead woman. Great police work both by the actual police, and an internet sleuth friend of one of the victims led the police to Steven Zelich, and once the DNA evidence was uncovered, there was literally nothing he could say in his defense.
So, join us on this amazing case about how great police work, and a killer’s stupidity saved the lives of other potential victims.

We're covering a serial killer doctor, Michael Swango. Dubbed by his college medical school classmates, working on actual patients as Double 0 Swango, License to Kill, he slipped through the cracks because he had the highest body count of any other student.
But, that didn't stop him from becoming a doctor on an internship, as well as an ambulance medic, where he began poisoning his coworkers food and drinks. Before too long, the jig was up, and he fled to Zimbabwe, where he continued his murderous habit. Ultimately, he was brought to justice, but this is a crazy story.
