So, what was this all about? What did I learn, and what am I going to take away from the experience of having 100+ recorded hours of conversation with people who are looking to live well? It’s all in this one… Stay subscribed for any potential future endeavors, as they will be weirder and sillier, no doubt.
Thank you to everyone who was a part of this project, and to everyone who listened. I hope I didn’t waste your time :)

This high-tempo, information-rich dialogue is of exactly the kind I like to have! Jozef’s ideas about his relationship with nature - its landmarks and inhabitants - are worth imbibing. We covered a lot of ground and reached out for many berries of wisdom, including surviving in the wild, romanticizing nature, energetic economy, homeostasis, creativity, dialogue, motivation, monotony of movement, human relationships, and even more! Don’t miss this one!

Andy’s quest to live well was ignited when he witnessed his son’s struggles to do the same. Over the years, Andy has created a model which served him and others on their journeys. It includes 5 practices and their outcomes, and we discussed those and the overarching theme of living life intentionally. As you’ll here, I found a lot in common with Andy, and I enjoyed the conversation very much! It’s a recommended one for sure.

In this more technical than usual philosophical discourse, Nick and I discussed the concept of Hope. It seemed to Nick that this concept is somewhat neglected compared to some others that constantly appear in relation to Living Well, and I agree. We related Hope to nearby concepts such as Expectation, Optimism, Meliorism, Rationality, and more.

In 2017 Anne-Laure enjoyed the reputation of someone successful less and less, until she finally decided to quit her position at Google and go at it alone. Armed with ambition, passion, and a vague idea of what she might like to do in the future, she set out on her new path. This talk is about her way of figuring out what, why, and how to do in order to live well. I had a blast talking with Anne-Laure as she’s full of useful and interesting ideas.

This wonderful conversation featured a few themes, the main one of which is reciprocal opening, or an attitude of always expanding horizons and exploring new experiential territory instead of focusing narrowly on pleasure and its causes. Alex shared his story of addiction, recovery, and discovery. We also talked about dialectic, psychedelics in the context of addiction, spirituality, the question of whether addiction can be completely healed, and more! This is a favorite of mine, so go ahead.

It’s hard to live well when you are unable to agree with people on what actions are right to take because of your opposing opinions. But do we really need to hold on to our beliefs so tightly? Jeffrey thinks we should focus more on agreeing more about what needs to be achieved than about the justifications for it, and I agree. We covered a lot of ground, and I really, really liked where we landed in the end. By the way, this is a really good time to plant trees in the northern hemisphere!

How could we move forward as individuals and a society when it comes to finding solutions to complex problems? Stephanie says we ought to be able to to inhabit the zone where two conventionally - usually politically - opposing views coexist. Use her Twitter thread as a visual aid, and follow our conversation as it touched on related topics. We also briefly revisited the topic of our last conversation on this podcast toward the end.

This conversation started with a real-life example from Jack’s life of how he pays attention to alleviate suffering. It then became a discussion on various aspects of the concept, and Jack shared a lot of information and personal stories from his days as a Zen monk. We also discussed gurus at some length and the danger of not letting yourself fall for your own bullshit by falling for the bullshit of another.

River grew up unaware that people went to bed for the night to get sleep, and not put in hours of looping thoughts. Later on, he discovered a mode of awareness that focuses on tuning in to what we feel in our bodies, and everything has been getting better since. We covered a lot of ground in this one, so you’d do well to tune in!

Kyle’s journey away from chairs and screens and back to the wild made him feel a lot better, and more belonging in the world. This lively discussion between two lovers of nature touched on many aspects of his journey and the insights he has gained: Having a sit-spot, domestication, tracking, meditation, Vervaeke’s Ecology of Practices, and much, much more. This one is packed with actionable advice and the reasons behind it.

Steph sat with me to discuss work - professional as well as creative - and how to be constant in doing it. It's easy to to think your way into a rut when considering all the things that could go wrong or not go at all, but if we are to feel realized we must find a way to channel our creativity to create something. Our conversation touched on creativity, lifestyle design, inspiration, goal-setting, criteria for success, and more.

Dan came back to dive deep and elaborate on his idea of Energy Farming. How can we stay in a strong state? We have to farm our energy, just as any other animal does, while keeping in mind the kind of creature we are. It’s always a treat talking to Dan, who is walking the walk.
