In this episode we speak to Judy Satish, a Podiatrist in Townsville, who has been practicing for over 40 years - she's a self proclaimed "bossy health professional" from Bundock St Podiatary and learn about warning signs from your feet, that your body may be in distress.
Judy specialises in aged-care and high-risk feet and in this episode speaks about not only early warning signs of diabetes and metabolic syndrome, but discusses her own journey and tips about how her own low carb learnings helped mitigate some of her health challenges.
Judy worked in India focusing on with people with Leprosy, and has spent further time working with Diabetes, & Aged care.
When Judy turned 50, she was diagnosed with stroke level blood pressure and her GP told her to lose weight. She followed Low Carb eating and lost 20 kgs & then another 10 with encouragement of another GP managing to avoid diabetes. Her blood pressure is now in the normal range.
Her work is health education every day as she sees the complications caused by poor dietary advice in her patients.
In this episode, Judy provides an expert, holistic podiatric view of health care using real food, and focusing on looking after your own metabolic health.

The book tells the story of Brendan's personal weight loss journey - largely as a memoir, at the same time offering insight into various aspects of the consequences of carrying excess weight Brendan had long tried his best to follow the standard food pyramid advice for many years in order to get healthy, without success. But according to the experts, he just wasnât trying hard enough.
In under two years, Brendan lost more than 50 kilograms â â after figuring things out in his own way, and has remained weight stable now for over five years.

In this episode Emma chats to Dr Peter Brukner, who is a specialist sports and exercise physician. they talk about "ground up" change and Peter shares his health story.
Peter is the co-founder of the public health campaign SugarByHalf and is committed to the challenge of improving the nationâs health with improved diet and increased physical activity.
His best selling book "A Fat Lot of Good" was published in 2018. Peter is also the Founder and Chair of Defeat Diabetes, an app- and web-based program, aimed at improving diabetes control through diet. His latest book The Diabetes Plan was published in March 2023.
He's the founding partner of Olympic Park Sports Medicine Centre in Melbourne and Professor of Sports Medicine at LaTrobe University, and a founding Executive Member of the Australasian College of Sports Physicians. Peter served two terms as President and played a key role in establishing sports medicine as a medical specialty in Australia. He is the co-author of the widely used text book Clinical Sports Medicine and has been team physician for professional football clubs as well as
national athletics, swimming, soccer and menâs hockey teams including Olympic and Commonwealth Games. Peter was the Socceroos Team Doctor at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Head of Sports Medicine and Sports Science at Liverpool Football Club, and has served as Australian cricket team doctor from 2012-17.Peter was also consultant to the Melbourne Football Club during their premiership year in 2021. In 2022 Peter was awarded a Doctor of Science honoris causa by La Trobe University and delivered the inaugural Peter Brukner Distinguished Lecture.

Dr James Muecke is an eye surgeon based in Adelaide who has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to change the trajectory of the health epidemic and the avalanche of diabetes that is becoming so prevalent in our society.
He speaks on low carb down under here.
Dr James founded the organisation Sight for all and is now their patron.
He has been working to have the food and dietary guidelines changed and recently succeeded with a bit of help from his friends ;) in low carb being added as an option on the Diabetes Australia website. In this episode, Emma and Dr James talk about seed oils, eyesight issues and preventative food choices, plus discuss his personal journey.
In November 2019, James was announced Australian of the Year 2020. On being appointed Australian of the Year, he immediately and passionately advocated for a tax on sugary drinks in the fight against type 2 diabetes, which is the leading cause of blindness among Australian adults. He advocated for TV commercials for unhealthy products to be limited to certain hours, and asks supermarket chains to curb their "predatory sales and marketing tactics.
