In this episode we will discuss the ubiquity of big data in the world today as well as how the data we share with technology and companies is only getting more and more personal.
In addition to this, we talk about how privacy isn’t actually well-defined in law so researchers, ethicists, and companies all use different definitions of privacy in their work.
Finally we explore how algorithms and tech built on the historically biased datasets we’ve amassed are intrinsically biased and how that cycle perpetuates the negative biases of our past into our future.
