Pig in a Cage? Cage with a pig? Cage loves a pig?
What could a movie with homeless Santa Claus-esque Nick Cage and a pig really be about? Well, it's not what you think, nor was it what we thought it would be to our pleasant surprise. Our review of Pig (2021)

In March of 2021, we talked about two movies that have nothing to do with each other except they were first-time watches for each of us. Nancy picked a classic Richard Linklater film and I picked a sequel to a sci-fi classic with a kick-ass soundtrack.

In this episode, we explore two of Wes Anderson's tales of love and revenge, along with other fun and playful strangeness. Anderson's style begins to blossom in the battle for love between Jason Schwartzman and Bill Murray in Rushmore (1998) and is at its peak almost 20 years later in The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014).

"Size matters not" in these two fantasy movies. In 1988, Willow, a tale of a little person saving the world with his bravery and magic, and Big, the story of a boy wishing to be a man and trying to deal with growing up too fast, defy and explore the ups and downs of being the little guy and taking on responsibilities that seem larger than themselves.

What makes a comedy a classic? With so many different types of things that make us laugh, who's really one to be the judge?
Well, we have microphones, so in this episode, we are. These two classics at one point or another made us laugh so hard you'd think we had a drinking problem. First we talk about the movie that laid the groundwork for what we call comedy, Airplane! (1980), and then we debate the inner workings and downright horrors of being in an office in Mike Judge's "9 to 5 turned Superman III" classic, Office Space (1999).

Michael Keaton can play everything from a superhero to a con-man in the afterlife, but in this episode we talk about Keaton's roles as the American working man. From the blue collar worker on the production line in Gung Ho (1986) to traveling salesman turned entrepenure in The Founder (2017). Does a movie like Gung Ho hold up today? Who really invented McDonald's and made it what it is today? Is it hard to hate Michael Keaton on screen? Let's discuss.

Is Santa Claus real? How do you measure success? What’s more of a Christmas movie: It’s a Wonderful Life or Die Hard?
We celebrate these classics and more in this years Holiday Special.

This week we dive into sidewalk chalk drawings, I mean, two beloved childhood musicals – Mary Poppins (1964) and The Music Man (1962). One of these is still in frequent rotation, while the other has sat dusty on the shelves for 30 plus years. Julie Andrews still dazzles us in her practically perfect way. The magic and life lessons about cherishing childhood for the very brief time that we have it still rings true with all of Bert’s sage advice to George Banks. The power of love being able to change a man who seems like nothing more than a two bit swindler has us a bit more skeptical all these years later. Take a spoonful of sugar and enjoy this week’s episode.

We open the doors of perception and step into the 1960s this week as we review the Oliver Stone film “The Doors” (1991) and the Mike Nichols film “The Graduate.” (1967) Will Jim and Ben ever figure out what to do with their lives? Can Matt get over his feelings about the female lead of “The Doors” and still enjoy this exploration of one of our favorite bands from the 60s? Does Ben even know Mrs. Robinson’s first name? Will Ben get the girl? He certainly tries.
Today, December 8th, would have been Jim Morrison’s 77th birthday. The world has been without this legend almost 50 years.
WARNING - The Podcats are very talkative this entire episode. They took a few hits of catnip to have the full Jim Morrison experience.

It’s Nancy’s birthday and she gets total pick of the movie genre this episode. With Rom-Coms being her favorite feel good movies, Matthew, being the nice brother, concedes to her wishes. Is Realty Bites a Rom-Com or post college crisis? Are Ryan Gosling’s abs photoshopped and do we care? Will Ethan Hawke wash his hair? These are the burning questions we dance around possibly answering as we have a fun time talking about Reality Bites (1994) and Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011).

Social media is a phenomenal thing. It’s shaped so much of how we navigate our day to day lives. Regardless if we sign up for Twitter, Instagram or Facebook, we can’t escape the influence it’s had. We recently made new friends, Zach and Hayley, fellow sibling movie podcasters, and asked them to join us in a discussion of David Fincher’s 2010 “The Social Network,” an exploration of how Facebook came to be, and how Mark Zuckerberg trashed real in person friendships to make 500 million friends online. Things are pretty wild here in the US and we decided we needed to let off a little steam. Enjoy our discussion about the lovable and clumsy Tommy in Tommy Boy (1995), and the ultra ambitious Tracy Flick running for class president in Election (1999).

...blood they have been the topic of countless stories for years and the cinema has catapulted them into pop culture icons. In celebration of these creatures of the night*, we are joined by two guests to delve into the bonds of maker and victim in Interview with a Vampire (1994) and the movie adaptation of the story that started it all, Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992).
*But some of them come out in the day? Let's discuss.
