I got to talk with my dear bandmate and collaborator Jared Samuel about the idea of channeling music, and how that idea sometimes feels patronizing in certain contexts. Stevie Weinstein-Foner joined us to share a strange synchronicity on the same subject. With mentions of the absolutely glorious Adrianne Lenker of Big Thief.

Great to talk with Lindsey Verrill who fronts the Austin-based band Little Mazarn. We got into chills, collective tragedy, ancestor dreams, and getting “contact spooked.” We also discussed pandemic blues, music, the new Tina Turner doc, & the Knights Templar...

Great to talk to my friend Gill Landry today, who despite having lived in New Orleans, had no ghost stories to report from there. He does share one from Northern California where he’s been weathering the pandemic. We’re talking about this Abolition 2021 musical benefit we’ve both been working on. Tickets at noonchorus.com/abolition.Check out Gill’s Patreon, and mine while you’re at it!

We talk with Zoe Boekbinder about their work with the Prison Music Project, and we get into a recent random run in they had with a medium! Check out Zoe's work at zoebookbinder.com and the Prison Music Project at righteousbabe.com. We're on the lineup and part of the volunteer team for Abolition 2021, a musical benefit to help found a free hospitality house and action center aimed at serving incarcerated people and their families. The house will be located a short 15-minute drive from one of the most isolated prisons in America, Louisiana State Penitentiary aka Angola.

My friend Casey Neill joined us to talk about this benefit we’re doing on April 9, 16, 23, and 30, called Abolition 2021 in support of a free hospitality house for family and lawyers of incarcerated people at Louisiana State Penitentiary. The house will be run by Abolition Apostles, a national jail and prison ministry. Casey Neill is an activist and a musician I have long admired as someone who uses their work to serve, educate and inspire. We talked about the Abolition benefit, and as a nod to the spectral roots of this podcast, Casey shared a dream of his that seemed to be a premonition.
