This month is a PTSD Awareness Month to raise awareness we are releasing a new podcast episode with our inspirational Ambassador and podcast host Scotty Darroch. During this episode we have an informal chat and will be discussing PTSD and his own personal battle with PTSD. Give Us Time Podcast: Mark Ormrod
During the episode we discuss his life, from joining the Royal Marines at 17 to Christmas Eve 2007 when he stepped on and triggered an Improvised Explosive Device during an operational tour to Afghanistan, resulting in the loss of both legs above the knee and his right arm.
This injury did need stop him though, after leaving the military he has gone on to do some remarkable achievements. We discuss his recovery and how he has gone on to win gold medals at the Invictus Games and raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for charity.

For those of you who don’t know Recruit for Spouses is an independent social enterprise dedicated to supporting, championing and finding gainful employment for our amazing armed forces spouses. It launched in 2009 to help wives and partners into work. Since then, they have helped almost 6,000 partners of military workers – mostly wives – into jobs around the country.
She has won The Women in Defence award; David Cameron’s Big Society Award and she has been granted a fellowship at the Royal Academy of Arts.
We discuss her life, from how she started Recruit For Spouses to some of their amazing success stories.

During the episode we will be talking to former Special Forces operator Dean Stott.
We discuss his military career from joining Royal Engineers to going on to pass Special Forces selection and becoming one of the first Army soldiers to join the Special Boat Service (SBS).
We also discuss his life after the military and how he went onto become a double World Record Holder when he cycled the entire 14,000-mile length of the Pan-American Highway (PAH), the longest motorable road in the world. In doing so he became the fastest person to cycle the length of South America and completed fastest cycle journey of the Pan American Highway smashing the former world record by 17 days and became the first person ever to make the journey in under 100 days.

During the podcast we will be talking to Andy Shaw about his experience in the Falklands war.
At the height of the Falklands War, he was a rifle troop commander in charge of 32 men, and was tasked with operating independently from his unit, in no man’s land.
During the war he was involved in a blue on blue this led to him developing PTSD which overtime brought an end Military career. He bought an old classic yacht with his wife, sailed off into the North Atlantic to help heal. He went onto start his own Charity “The Mountain Way” which helps Soldiers with PTSD.

During the podcast we will be talking to is Andy Shaw, a former Royal Marine Commando. He joined the Royal Marine’s at 22 years old and passed out of training as the top recruit and later was awarded was the Royal Marines Sword of Honour for best Young Officer during his career.
During part one we will talk about how we ran away to sea when he was 16 and how he went on to circumnavigating the globe three times before joining the Royal Marines. We also talk what it was like going on his first operational tour of Northern Ireland after passing training.
