It's time for the finale as John and his own ineffable husband discuss Good Omens Season 2 Episode 6 "Every Day". It all wraps up as we learn what happened to Gabriel and get a melancholy end for Aziraphale and Crowley.
Based on the book Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman and starring David Tennant and Michael Sheen we’re discussing each of the six episodes of this series one a week. This is our spoiler filled discussion so as always make sure you’ve watched the episode before listening to the podcast.
Good Omens 206 “Every Day” synopsisWhile Aziraphale, Nina and Maggie fend off the demons, Crowley discovers the reason for Gabriel's disappearance: he refused to support a second attempt at Armageddon. Gabriel was demoted from his position as an Archangel, but before his memories could be wiped by Saraquel, both him and his memories can not be located in heaven.
Crowley returns to the bookshop, where Aziraphale has successfully fended off the demons and accidentally declared war on Hell by using his halo. Beelzebub appears, and reveals that Gabriel's memories were hidden in the fly inside the box that Gabriel had been carrying.
Gabriel's memories – including those of him conducting a romance with Beelzebub – are restored. He and Beelzebub choose to abandon Heaven and Hell and leave together, for their own versions of heaven and hell…maybe for Alpha Centauri.
As the assembled demons and angels squabble over what happens next, the Metatron arrives sending Michael, Uriel and Saraquel back to heaven, as the demons are taken back to hell. The Metatron has a vacancy left by Gabriel and is looking for a new archangel. He offers Aziraphale Gabriel's former position as well as the ability to restore Crowley's status as an angel if he chooses to work with him. Meanwhile, Crowley prepares to confess his feelings to Aziraphale after a good talking to by Nina and Maggie.
Together at last, Aziraphale informs Crowley that he plans to accept the Metatron's offer, while Crowley asks Aziraphale to abandon Heaven and Hell so they can become and Us, just as Gabriel and Beelzebub did. Caught off guard Aziraphale asks Crowley to instead return to Heaven as an angel to work together, but Crowley refuses the offer realising Aziraphale is being manipulated.
Aziraphale leaves Earth (and Crowley) to go work for Heaven, where the Metatron informs him that his task, for which he has the perfect skill set for will be to enact the Second Coming.

We're back for the penultimate episode of Good Omens Season 2 with our chat all about Chapter 5 "The Ball. As Aziraphale gets all romantic with a Jane Austen inspired ball, a horde of hell want their angle or everyone will be toste.
Good Omens 205 “The Ball” synopsisOn the day of the Whickber Street Traders and Shopkeepers Association Monthly Meeting, Aziraphale, with an increasingly impatient, bored and bemused Crowley tagging along, gathers together the local residents, offering rare and unique books to encourage everyone to join. He uses a small miracle to transform the meeting into a Regency-style ball, hoping the Jane Austen-inspired atmosphere will get Maggie and Nina together.
Meanwhile, in Hell Shax prepares to storm AC Fell’s Bookshop as she requisitions a legion of Hell’s finest demons from Furfur. The horde of 10,000 soon gets whittled down to 1000, a bit further to 500 demons until agreement lands on 100 which actually becomes 70. As Shax tries to rally her mini-horde she encounters an irritatingly inquisitive demon called Eric who just keeps asking questions until he’s vapourised to dust by Shax. Just as it couldn’t get any worse, Shax learns that the big transporter up to Earth is out of action and they must instead take the stairs!!
Leaving Aziraphale to his tasks in advance of “the night to remember”, Crowley confronts Jim, short for James, short for Gabriel about who he really is and what happened to him. He learns that Gabriel’s mind and memories were first in a matchbox and then transferred to the cardboard box he was carrying when he arrived at Aziraphale’s shop.
As the humans dance, Shax arrives with 1/75th of a legion of demons and prepares to storm the bookshop, but cannot cross the threshold as they have not been invited in. Shax threatens to kill all the humans in the shop unless they surrender Gabriel. Jim understands that it’s him they want and tries to surrender himself, but Aziraphale and Crowley’s earlier miracle prevents the demons from recognizing him, and they continue to threaten the bookshop.
While Aziraphale protects the bookshop, Crowley evacuates most of the human guests, then forces the human officer, Inspector Constable Muriel to arrest him and bring him to Heaven to put an end to all of this.

Derek and John are back for our weekly Good Omens Season 2 podcast with Chapter 4 "The Hitchhiker".
Nazi zombies invade London in a minisode in the 1940s featuring the League of Gentlemen cast and writers.
Good Omens 204 “The Hitchhiker” synopsisThe demon Shax hitches a lift with Aziraphale as he drives Crowley’s Bentley back from Edinburgh, and deduces that Gabriel is hiding in the bookshop.
Meanwhile, returning to 1941, three Nazi agents go to Hell after they are killed by a falling bomb and plenty of demonic intervention by Crowley. Standing in line to go straight to Hell, the three Nazis, Mr Glozier, Mr Harmony and Greta Kleinsman, mention to their processor, the demon Furfur, that they are there only because of Crowley and Aziraphale.
Furfur offers to spare them eternal damnation and resurrect them as flesheating Nazi zombies if they spy for him. Furfur hopes to advance his rank in Hell by getting proof that the demon and angel are consorting together.
As Aziraphale joins Crowley in Blitz damaged London to deliver his bootleg booze to the West End, Aziraphale offers to perform magic on the West End to help the owner of the loss making theatre. Aziraphale begins to prepare his show with the help of Crowley who suggests something with more of a bang leading them to invest in a potentially lethal bullet trick that he’ll perform on stage with the help of Crowley and plenty of miracles if all goes wrong. All the while the two are being followed by the nibbling Nazi zombies.
At the theatre, Mr Glozier calls Furfur to the show to get his evidence and who places a miracle blocker over the theatre. With the anti-upped the trick is a huge success, but Furfur takes a photo of the pair's cavorting and cooperation and tells them both they're doomed. As their reward the Nazis will live out their days as zombies roaming the earth.
Furfur goes to present the proof to the Dark Council, not knowing Aziraphale’s sleight of hand as he switches the photo with a West End poster, and the Council dismiss poor Furfur, laughing and taunting him at his failure.
Back in the present, Shax, with the permission of Beelzebub, plans to storm the bookshop with the very best of the demonic army at her disposal and take Gabriel by force. Meanwhile Aziraphale has plans of his own to pull out all the stops to get Nina and Maggie together at the Whickber Street Traders and Shopkeepers Association Monthly Meeting. It’ll be a night to remember!

Derek and John are back for our weekly Good Omens Season 2 podcast with Episode 3 "I Know Where I'm Going".
It's a trip to Edinburgh in the present day to investigate clues and in the past to investigate a moral dilemma.
Good Omens 203 “I Know Where I'm Going” synopsis
Heaven sends junior angel Muriel, disguised as a human police officer Inspector Constable, to spy on Aziraphale and audit the 25 Lazurii miracle that Aziraphale and Crowley performed. But Muriel, watching her freshly brewed cuppa and in her white police constable uniform is clueless about life on Earth and is easily misdirected to follow Nina and Maggie to see if the miracle worked.
As Aziraphale takes the Bentley to Edinburgh to investigate the raging clue he’s found, he is reminded of his time in Edinburgh in 1827, when he and Crowley found a very uncanny statue of Gabriel.
While investigating the statue they chance upon a poor girl, Elspeth, a bodysnatcher, who robs graves and sells the corpses to doctors to support herself and her friend wee Morag. Aziraphale considers her deeds to be wrong and sabotages her sale, but after Doctor Darlympyl explains the corpses he purchases are to help medical science understand how to treat living people, he changes his mind about Elspeth's deeds.
Elspeth, Morag, Crowley and Aziraphale try to dig up another corpse, but Morag is killed by a grave gun, protecting the grave, and which provides a perfect opportunity for Elspeth to sell wee Morag's fresh corpse to the doctor. With the five pounds received she buys a bottle of wine to toast wee Morag’s life with Crowley and Aziraphale, and then tries to poison herself to join wee Morag. But Crowley prevents her from doing so and he forces Aziraphale to give her enough money to escape poverty and live a better life. His good deed gets noticed indeed by Hell and he is returned to answer for his crimes.
Back in AZ Fell and Co Bookshop in present day Soho Crowley is trying to babysit Jim, short for James, short for Gabriel. As Crowley manipulates the weather in a failed attempt to push Maggie and Nina together he triggers Jim to announce a prophecy. The end is getting closer and the dead will rise.
Outside, Shax believes Aziraphale is instrumental in hiding Gabriel and she tells Crowley she will declare war on Aziraphale if her suspicions are proven correct.

Another great fun tale featuring a comedic take on the trials of Job.
Good Omens 202 “The Clue” synopsisIn 2500 BCE in the Land of Uz, Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) arrives to stop Crowley (David Tennant) from bestowing the nicest guy in the world, Job (Peter Davidson), horrific disasters to befall him, including his herd of goats. He learns that Crowley is there by permission of The Almighty (Frances McDormand) and the trials are intended to test Job’s faith as a bet between God and Satan.
Aziraphale, feeling pity for him, is horrified by the prospect of heaven and hell destroying Job's children, and after some convincing he and Crowley trick the angels into thinking that Job's children are dead, although hidden in lizard form.
When the Archangels reveal the tests to Job and reward him with double his losses, Crowley and Aziraphale hatch a plan. Crowley disguised as Uzu the Sihite, a professional midwife and cobbler, pretends to extract Job’s wife, Siti’s (Andi Osho), ribs to kid, while transforming his actual children from lizard form. Aziraphale confirms that all birthing was in accordance with how it happened in the Garden of Eden and that the children are in fact new replacements. But Aziraphale feels great guilt for thwarting the will of God, and wonders if he did the right thing.
In the present, Jim, short for James, short for Gabriel (Jon Hamm), seems to be enjoying his job as bookshop assistant so much he begins singing the Buddy Holly hit Everyday. Could this be The Clue to Gabriel’s amnesia?
Meanwhile, Michael (Doon Mackichan), Uriel (Gloria Obianyo), and Saraqael (Liz Carr) arrive in Soho upon tracing the miracle to the bookshop. However, due to the miracle Aziraphale and Crowley performed, they cannot recognize Gabriel, and leave, still suspicious of Aziraphale, who assures the assembled hosts that the miracle was for love between Maggie (Maggie Service) and Nina (Nina Sosanya).
As Shax (Miranda Richardson) offers to drop the hostility towards Crowley in exchange for the information on where Gabriel is; while Aziraphale commandeers Crowley’s wheels to embark on a road trip to The Resurrectionists, a pub at 66 Goat Gate in Edinburgh to investigate his brand new Clue leaving an exasperated Crowley to watch over the bookshop and Gabriel.

The end of the world is nigh once again as we return for Good Omens Season 2 Chapter 1 "The Arrival".
Based on the book Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman and starring David Tennant and Michael Sheen we’ll be discussing each of the six episodes of this series one by one. This is our spoiler filled discussion so as always make sure you’ve watched the episode before listening to the podcast.
Good Omens 201 “The Arrival” synopsisAfter averting the apocalypse, Crowley (David Tennant) and Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) are on the outs with heaven and hell.
Crowley is living in his car, feeling aimless and just very bored, even his interactions with his replacement, Shax (Miranda Richardson), the new high representative of hell in London are a struggle. As Shax gets to grips with her role she is so confused about why being a demon on earth is so easy and why the humans keep inflicting evil, horrible stuff to each other. But Shax hears something juicy on the heaven-hell grapevine (which definitely doesn't exist) is awash with rumours that there's something going down in the UP.
Meanwhile at A Z Fell and Co bookshop in Soho Aziraphale is relaxing to a new record he bought from Maggie (Maggie Service) in the vinyl shop across the road and forgiving her rent arrears. Relaxing into Shostakovich, he is disturbed when a very confused and very naked Archangel Gabriel (Jon Hamm), holding a box, walks through the street straight to his shop. He doesn't know who he, where he is or who Aziraphale is, but he knows that Aziraphale will keep him safe and stop the “bad thing”, that he doesn’t know what it is, from happening.
Slightly panicked about what is going on, Aziraphale calls the only one he knows that can help, Crowley, who is far from happy to help Gabriel. Crowley has no inclination to help Gabriel, suggesting they leave him on Dartmoor and he refuses to help his friend, leaving to go back to his car. While away, Crowley is called on by Beelzeebub who will return Crowley to hell if he brings Gabriel to him. Beelzebub also informs him that Extreme Sanctions will be used by heaven against anyone harbouring Gabriel from them. Crowley returns immediately to Aziraphale to help him and admits with a little dance that he was wrong and Aziraphale was right. Together the two perform a very minor half a miracle to hide Gabriel, now named James/Jim from everyone's sight.
But the miracle isn't minor enough and with klaxons blaring and red lights flashing in heaven it attracts the attention of Michael (Doon Mackichan) and the other angels to a little bookshop in Soho.

We finish our latest series of podcasts with our Good Omens Episode 6 review of “The Very Last Day of The Rest of Their Lives”. We discuss it all in our spoiler-filled podcast.
Good Omens Episode 6 “The Very Last Day of The Rest of Their Lives” Synopsis.Crowley (David Tennant), Aziraphale (Michael Sheen), Madame Tracy (Miranda Richardson) and Shadwell (Michael McKean) arrive to kill the Antichrist, but instead see The Them face off against the Riders of the apocalypse at the Tadfield military base, as Adam Young (Sam Taylor Buck) reveals that they aren’t really anything other than figments of human imagination. Armageddon is slow dismantled as Pepper (Amma Ris) tells War (Mireille Enos) she believes in peace, Brian (Ilan Galkoff) tells Pollution (Lourdes Faberes) he wants a clean world and Wensleydale (Alfie Taylor) tells Famine (Yusuf Gatewood) he just wants a balanced diet (and a good lunchbox).
With the riders gone from the Doomsday table Gabriel (Jon Hamm) and Beelzebub (Anna Maxwell Martin) come to find out why war hasn’t started between the hordes of angels and demons – it seems to be something to do with a mix up between the Great Plan and the Ineffable Plan! As they leave to tell their higher and lower powers, Beelzebub gets Satan (Voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch) involved, but his wrath is curtailed by the admonishment by Adam that he, Satan, is not his real father as he’s not been around to bring him up.
As Satan slinks back to his fiery depths the world is returned to normal (with just a few tweeks). But Aziraphase and Crowley are kidnapped by the forces of heaven and hell for their betrayal. Thankfully, the final prediction of Agnes Nutter to choose “thy fayces carefully” saves them both as disguised as one another Crowley relaxes in a nice bath of Holy water and Aziriphale warms himself in hell fire. Back on earth as two angels are dining at the Ritz, so a nightingale sings in Berkeley Square.

We chat about all of the signs of the apocalypse in Good Omens Episode 4 “Saturday Morning Funtime”. We discuss it all in our spoiler-filled podcast.
Good Omens Episode 4 “Saturday Morning Funtime”The world is getting weirder. Atlantis has risen from the deep, a Kraken has arrived to destroy all Japanese scientific vessels that definitely aren’t whaling ships, and aliens have landed to give a message of “cosmic harmony and suchlike” for everyone in the whole wide world.
In Soho, Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) is not being listened to, even though he knows how to find the antichrist, stop the apocalypse and prevent the war between heaven and hell. Crowley (David Tennant) isn’t faring any better as Hastur and Ligur find out that he lost the real Antichrist, and come to take him back to hell.
As forces begin to forge around Adam Young (Sam Taylor Buck), Newton Pulsifer (Jack Whitehall) travels to Tadfield and meets Anathema Device (Adria Arjona) fulfilling another of Agnes Nutter’s Prophecies (under the bed). As Shadwell (Michael McKean) gets a premonition that Newton is in trouble he tries to get some money from Aziraphale and mistakenly sends the angel back to heaven.

The end of the world is nigh as we begin our Good Omens Episode 1 coverage.
Good Omens Episode 1 “In The Beginning” synopsisIn the Garden of Eden demon Crawley (David Tennant) tempts Eve and Adam to question the nature of good and evil leading to their expulsion from paradise. Worrying for their safety Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) the angel gives Adam his flaming sword to protect his new family. Thus begins a long-running friendship between angel and demon and a complicated relationship with humans.
Thousands of years later, the ineffable plan to bring about the apocalypse by introducing the Antichrist to an unsuspecting Earth needs Crowley to complete a simple task. Place the newly sweet baby Antichrist with a visiting US Cultural attache.
Believing his mission accomplished Crowley spends the next 11 years training The Adversary in evil ways while Aziraphale tries to negate his influence. It’s all for naught, due to some unexpected influence from some satanic nuns the true Antichrist is living happily with his friends in the small town of Lower Tadfield completely unaware of his true destiny.
