Are you ready for Season 2 of Gossip Girl on Dec. 1st?!?
I hope you everyone enjoyed the thanksgiving festivities, because I have one more juicy dish to bring to the table on this New York Sunday.
In giving my thanks, I’m grateful Gossip Girl existed, inspiring the Gossipnista podcast to be born, then bringing GG 2.0 to life in a bigger & bolder way, ultimately leading me to my run-in & interview with the talented & fun actor, Johnathan Fernandez, who plays Nick Lott, a series regular on the New Gossip Girl.
So the questions are…..has dad Nick Lott gone bad boy in the upcoming season of GG? And, do him & Zoya end up caught up in the glitz & glamour of Manhattan losing their bond along the way? Oh, and where does that unassuming relationship between Nick Lott and Ms. Kate Keller go? Rumor has it, it’s all or nothing. Sparks will fly as Georgina light’s up the second season and Monet de Haan had better watch out thinking she can be Queen B. The sisterly love/hate relationship between Zoya & Julien continues as does the ménage à trois with Max, Aki, and Audrey. So much to cover and so little time!
You’ll have to tune into my podcast interview with Johnathan to get the scoop on some of these topics, plus get a behind the scenes story of the GG cast members living in the city. Johnathan will of course, share his relationship with New York and his perspective as a native, as well as dive into his acting career.
And might there be another O.G. cast member making any appearance this upcoming season - I'll never tell! Enjoy the interview.
Xoxo,

This weeks guest is, Shiloh Frederick, creator of @shilohinthecity a resource for exploring NYC in a different way (off the beaten path with a New Yorker who’s rediscovering her city and takes everyone along for the ride). Shiloh shares fun history lessons and facts from all the city boroughs (not just Manhattan) and she also makes it so interesting and inviting.
In our lighthearted, yet very informative conversation, Shiloh drops so much insight on NYC, plus 2-3 things to do in each borough. She mentions the attraction that brought her to tears and shares why Staten Island is often forgotten. She’ll also get into food places to explore, facts about NYC you may not want to hear, and her number one tip to Native New Yorkers and those looking to call NYC home.
It’s been a 3 years in the making to have the honor to interview Shiloh and I hope you enjoy our conversation. Living in New York City is attainable, but not without many learnings along the way. In this week’s episode I sat down with Brittney Scardina, a new local to the city, who although did some extensive research before her move to NYC - she never saw the Ikea couch situation coming her way that would become one of her first #onlyinnewyork moments (like an episode of FRIENDS), and a pretty hilarious one yet, although not so funny when you’re actually living it.
Brittney was an absolute joy to speak with, she brought a different perspective and approach to her move to New York City and she’ll share her tips in our interview. You can expect everything from:
Why having a real estate agent/broker was pivotal to her move How research and visiting the city ahead of her move was so impactful for a smoother transitionHow coming with an open mind and a side of grit is a recipe for success in the cityAnd, why she choose the neighborhood she moved to plus so much more! You won’t believe how lucky she got in getting her apartment in the height of the summer in 2022 when rent prices were soaring and the housing stock was limited post pandemic and everyone returning to the city.
Tune in and let us know what you think or if you have a moving to New York story you'd like to share.

Hello New York lovers and New Yorkers, how I’ve missed you all. I’m dropping into your feeds unexpectedly today to finish off season 5 of the Gossipnista podcast. You can expect a couple new episodes to come that will round up the completion of season 5 in the next few weeks.
And, do I have some City Confessions to start you off with. The fabulous Mariann Yip, opens up the 2nd half of season 5 discussing the city of course, her NYC podcast, and her new dating book ‘UN-Hinged’, as well as sharing a BIG life moment that recently turned her life upside down (in an unexpectedly/unplanned, but wonderful way), which makes for a future book about New York City that will leave you surprised and inspired all at the same time.
We also discuss her New York upbringing and how she believes some native New Yorkers can learn to let go of their NYC ego and pride a bit more (keepin it real). She dives into what life was like growing up in Manhattan and why she prefers Brooklyn, and sooooo much more!
Thanks to everyone for your patience and support in letting me continue to bring you this podcast and conversations that I enjoy so much. Be sure to look out for new releases on the weekends and moving forward, plus maybe a BIG city confession of mine as we wrap up the season.

New Yorkers in LA - do you feel the heat already on this topic or is it just the weather!? This topic never gets old and there’s so much to learn from those who call these places home as well as their fascinating stories.
My guest today, @danielzahler started a movement to unite New Yorkers in Los Angeles. That’s right, The New York Times picked up Daniel’s unique, yet much needed community of New Yorkers, who have made the transition to Los Angeles and who have connected through a What’s App group of 250 ppl (with a waitlist to join) called, NYC in LA.
Why he started this community and more on what his New York & LA story is - you’ll have to tune into the episode for that. However, what I can share is that Daniel has so many tips for both coasts along with pizza recommendations that will have you wanting to visit both cities to confirm.
Daniel is a Harvard graduate in Chemistry & Chemical Biology, and has a JD from Harvard Law School. He even had a fellowship at Yale Medical School. He knows his east coast and is currently making his best life in the west coast while promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Also did I mention, he not only offers multiple quotes on New York City, but he also shares a poem intertwining the city and Burning Man as one. Queue the heat and enjoy the episode!

A thought provoking and super informative interview with, Katherine G. Mendoza. There was so much to unpack in our conversation that you can expect a second episode drop with her, which is set to be a surprise, so be on the look out for that.
Katherine is a Brooklynite and (I might add) a Manhattanite of Ecuadorian-American decent, a comedy writer, creative content producer & talented voice actor who has taken the online world by storm. She has produced for companies such as Buzzfeed, Mitú, NBC Latino and Amazon Prime Video's Tik Tok division. Her work has also been featured in many publications including Entertainment Weekly, Variety, Univision, Telemundo, Huffington Post, and many more outlets.
In our episode, Katherine and I discuss: New York City’s culture, subcultures, our Hispanic and Latin American roots, gentrification of the city, transportation and crime in the NYC. We also touch upon Los Angeles, along with her advice for those looking to make the move to the city (how it’s not like the movies or should one expect it to be like their hometown), and even provides native New Yorkers an even more REAL dose of advice of stereotyping the community.
Katherine brings her raw, compassionate, savvy and naturally humorous self to every question delivered and leaves you wanting more.

This is one of the most impactful topics and conversations to date on the podcast, with guest @plantpoweredmetrony, because it could actually help transform and save lives in small steps but dramatic ways.
New York City isn’t just about the dining and food experiences, nightlife, attractions, landmarks, etc., but it’s also the energy of the people, the communities built here, the connections we make, giving back and not just taking, and how we choose to build our everyday lives here.
Did you know chronic diseases are the leading cause of mortality not only in the U.S., but across the world and Covid-19 did not help. All caused by a short list of risk behaviors that are generally under our control:
•Tobacco use and exposure
•Poor nutrition, including diets low in fruits and vegetables and high in sodium and saturated fats
•Lack of physical activity
•Excessive alcohol use
With pizza, bagels and BEC’s as the culture of NYC…I bring this conversation to the forefront to not only inform and educate myself and fellow New Yorkers on what resources are available in our community, but also for those who want to elevate their well-being and lifespan.
***TONS OR RESOURCES LINKED IN THE SHOW NOTES***
Lianna Levine Reisner, Newtwork Director at Plant Powered Metro New York, a non-profit organization in the city that started in 2019, helps to empower people to find better health and overcome chronic disease through whole food, plant-based nutrition. Lianna joined me to share her NYC story and initial culture shock of NYC and how finding places beyond the tourist traps ended up being her safe haven, as well as, how freedom of movement with transportation and all that the city offers has been a dream come true.
She’ll also share how she and many others like our NYC Mayor have overcome chronic diseases through nutritional changes and how one can start their own path today. This is a much listen to interview, if not for you, then for your loved ones.

This episode is a must listen if you ever wondered how New York City apartments work (outside the regular market) and how you can lock yourself into the city and an apartment forever, if you choose to.
Hattie Kolp my guest today notes, “everyone can get a rent stabilized apartment in New York City.” But nearly no one, will get an apartment for the price and square footage she is paying today, in her childhood home on the Upper West Side. She reveals all the details and more in our interview today and helps to break down rent stabilized vs. rent controlled apartments, as well as how you can get one in NYC.
I’m fortunate to have connected with Hattie to share her unique New York upbringing in the city with an even a more unique living situation. She shares the details on her pre-war gem of an apartment; family history on rent stabilized apartments; how she fell into fame and recognition during the pandemic due to her home; and lovely interior design skills and handy work. Also, how three Master Degree’s later she is finally doing what she loves.

Realities of NYC Parenting - all packed into one conversation, which includes an unbelievable Upper East Side story!
On today’s episode, I had the pleasure of interviewing Bethany Braun-Silva, who I feel I’ve hit the New York City Lottery of guests, to represent raising New Yorkers in so many ways than one. You’ll have to tune in to the episode to hear them all.
“Bethany Braun-Silva is an on-air parenting, entertainment, and lifestyle expert. She is the former editor of Parenting.com and frequently writes about the latest and greatest gear for parents and kids in the city.
She was previously the Senior Editor of Big Apple Parent Magazine and has written for OK! Magazine, Hollywood Life, Mom.com, and CafeMom. She is a graduate of New York University, but her proudest accomplishment is being a mom to Elias and Jake, who make life (and work) endlessly fun”.
During our conversation Bethany notes how her first born birthed her career as a parenting expert as well as nostalgia of watching her children loving the same things she did growing up as a child in the city.
Bethany’s energy and through-and-through native New Yorker personality, which she wears like a badge of honor, shines throughout our interview. She also brings a very realistic perspective on raising children in the city, plus what she likes and dislikes about New York City for kids; how the school system in NYC is bound to be the biggest barrier for city parents; why Times Square is not popular among New Yorkers; how you must live 20+ years in the city to consider yourself a New Yorker, and when I say so much more…I mean so much more!
NYC parenting resources mentioned by Bethany in our interview can be found below. Reach out, if you have any questions.

There is no New York without its landmarks and history, and I have the perfect guest to open up the new season 5!
Tommy Silk, creator of @landmarksofny not only offers knowledgable posts and insights to an array of landmarks in the city, but he can also give you a tour of them as a certified tour guide in New York City. Sprinkle in his history degree from Fordham University and you have yourself an expert on landmarks.
With a great deal of knowledge about the city and Tommy’s New York story, it can all be digested in just under an hour. Here’s a little of what we chat about on this episode…
✧ Making the move from Manhattan to Brooklyn - the pros and cons
✧ His #onlyinnewyork story of a big raccoon taking over Central Park
✧ How the preservation of landmarks in NYC got started
✧ The most overrated and underrated landmarks, landmarks for newbies in the city and also for natives to explore as well
✧ His favorite landmark and the amazing story behind it
✧ We even talk Staten Island and give it a landmark shout out
✧ Plus we play a fun pop quiz game on landmarks, which he was not expecting. How did he do?
I’m so excited to have had the opportunity to interview him.

It's the finale episode of season 4 and we're talking Transition and Newcomers to NYC...
It has been particularly challenging the last two years for those moving in, out, or around the city and will continue to be so going into 2022.Episode 48 brings you writer, real estate publicist, and expert, Kelly Kreth to share her wild NYC story and talk more about her role at Brick Underground, which is a one-stop online resource on all things real estate as well as an informative guide on living in the city and also a platform for sharing real New Yorkers living situations.
In our interview Kelly will dive into two big narratives that have defined NYC’s ever revolving housing door the last two years. She’ll note how newcomers to the city are happy to be part of the city’s “rebirth” after the ‘New York is Dead’ conundrum that has plagued the city and caused an uproar amongst many. She’ll also dive into what New Yorkers have transitioned into the most during the pandemic, as well as, where one can get the biggest bang for their buck in the city, and also share some crazy living stories that may make one think twice about moving here.
Kelly is the first guest interview ever where someone had absolutely no negative feedback about NYC. Her positive reinforcement comes through as she states that, “no matter how long you’ve lived in New York…you’ll always still feel honored just to be here.”
Enjoy the interview with Kelly Kreth and be sure to check out all the links at the bottom of the show notes here. You can catch Kelly’s email and share your New York living story with her & Brick Underground.
It has been my absolute pleasure serving my listeners, supporters and New York City with another year and season, and I’m very much looking forward to BIG things for the podcast and NYC in 2022.

New York, we’ve come a long way! Happy Thanksgiving week to you and yours, hoping that you can spend it with those you love this year, wherever you may be.
Episode 47, I bring you Part. 2 of From New York with Love with Zigs (Erica Zigon). Zigs and I talk about how her iconic New York songs nearly didn’t happen, and how the song Manhattan was born in the living room of her small apartment. It was there in which it all began and the entire band jammed out in an impromptu session to create the foundation for the song. She also reveals the band who sparked her creative process for this New York centric album, plus much more.
And, as the winter and holidays approach, we also discuss her non-profit We've Got You Covered (WGYC), which aims to help the homeless population in the city by providing blankets, shoes, clothes and above all a human to human connection. Zigs notes, she’s learned more speaking to these homeless individuals and hearing their stories than she did throughout her schooling. Now, that’s what I call the school of life in New York City!
Tune in and let us know which version of the Manhattan song you like best - the studio version or regular version?

It's the two-year anniversary of the Gossipnista podcast today and there is no better way to celebrate then with my special guest today and her amazing music about New York City....
I still can’t believe I had the opportunity to interview such a talented up-and-coming musician and artist such as Erica Zigon. And yes, she’s definitely from New York, but you’ll have to tune in to find out where…
Her authenticity and talent is so raw with so many colors and stories to share throughout our interview, I am nearly left speechless.
You can expect a two episode installment with Zigs, today’s and the next one dropping on 11/22, which actually lines up perfectly with the two year celebration of the Gossipnista podcast today.
With major inspiration from her brother, who she’s always seen as a rockstar, and who helped to shape the musician she is today, she goes deeper into this bond, as well as her admiration for pop charts sensation Jon Bellion, and many other topics including New York City.
This is just the beginning for Zigs and I absolutely love the motto she’s adopted, “I try not to focus on getting bigger…just getting better.”
Amen to that and the new Manhattan/New York song she has created for the city!

There’s a plot twist to this Spotted episode in more ways than one, but if you ever have plans to travel internationally, it’s of absolute value and a must listen.
Tune-in to hear a native New Yorker, turn recent Londoner, as we talk what we love and dislike about London and Paris. We also dive into the one tool that has saved my guest a lot of money while traveling abroad and that I wish I had on-hand while traveling.
You may or may not be familiar with this guest on today’s episode, as he’s been on the podcast before. And, I’ll also note, he was one of my very first if not the first New York friend!
Enjoy the episode and stay tuned for more to come on my European vacation.
P.S. - Be sure to listen to the very end for a message from me.

She’s the queen of the underground, and is giving back to the city and New Yorkers through sharing their stories one book at a time.
Uli Beutter Cohen is a New York City–based documentarian, artist, and the creator of Subway Book Review.
For 7+ years and counting, Uli has ridden every subway line through New York City to observe, interview, and photograph some of its most imaginative people: the readers of books. Encapsulating what type of books define the minds of New Yorkers, she has now written her very first book, Between the Lines: Stories from the Underground—a collection of conversations that beautifully illuminate who we are and where we are going. Uli has spoken to over 1,000 people in her journey and shares some of her favorite encounters with everyday people and icons alike, including Jamel Shabazz, Lynn Yaeger, New York Nico, Devon Rodriguez, and many others.
In our interview we not only talk Between the Lines, of course, but dive deep into what Uli believes is the defining make up of a contributing New Yorker who not only takes what the city gives, but also gives back; how to make it in the city and find oneself; as well as the ups and downs that led to her success, and the outrageous things people have said to her. She’ll share the magic of New York City neighborhoods and how building a community is essential in the city.
Her fun, magnetic, and relatable journey will leave you hanging on every last word.
Enjoy the interview and check out the book!
