  • Our High Performance Woman this week is the amazing Ireland Professional Rugby Player, Deirbhile Nic A Bhaird and at 28 years old, Derv is a seriously impressive, inspirational woman! In this educational, motivational and thought provoking episode, Derv chats about everything from technology, to women’s rugby to reflections on her own struggles and triumphs in her career to date, and how letting go enhanced her performance.  


    Playing rugby with the boys from a young age, Deirbhile had to stop playing rugby competitively as a teenager, as there were no opportunities for her to play as a female. She explains what it takes to be a professional athlete, how to back yourself, face setbacks, disappointments, the intersection between kindness and competitiveness, as well as the competitive nature of being part of a high performance team. 


    An advocate of the sport, she gives great insight into the development of women’s rugby in Ireland and beyond, and describes what needs to happen to continue progress into the future.

  • In episode 4, Joanne speaks to best selling author of Creative Happy Work, Kat Byles, from her home in Antigua about how after suffering burnout, she radically changed her life and left the UK for Antigua where she now lives and runs a retreat centre.


    Kat was working as Global Comms Director for one of the biggest names in sport when she burnout. She talks candidly about how burnout felt as well as how to identify it in yourself, and the steps people can take in everyday life to combat various stages of burnout.


    She describes how her heart and intuition guided her to the Carribean island of Antigua where walking on the sand, floating in the ocean and eating fresh mangoes from the trees, brought her back to life. She explains how to live life guided by your imagination and intuition and how to allow the creativity of the heart to guide decision-making.


    Kat also openly discusses her experience of menopause and what lessons she has learned from it.

  • In this episode, Caroline Twohig, Virgin Media news anchor, speaks candidly and bravely about overcoming postnatal depression after the birth of her first baby and about the anxiety and panic attacks that she has dealt with throughout her career in front of the camera. 


    Caroline Twohig has been a news anchor and reporter for the last 15 years working on various national television and radio shows. She’s currently the anchor of Virgin Media’s ‘News at 7’ and has previously delivered morning news on Ireland AM as well as the ‘News at 5.30’. She trained with CNN in Atlanta and has anchored many special news broadcasts over the years, 


    When not delivering breaking news to the nation, she is wife and mother of two young children, having just given birth to her second baby 2 months before recording this episode.


    Explaining how she felt stigma, deep shame and loneliness around her experiences with postnatal depression, Caroline is intent on supporting others to not feel alone when faced with similar emotions.


    Also, having spent her career in front of the camera, Caroline authentically shares how she has dealt with anxiety and panic attacks on air.

    Mary is a certified Personal Trainer and Life Coach and works as a group facilitator in an addiction treatment center. Her inspirational videos on social media and appearances on TV shows such as The Late Late Show and Ireland AM have garnered widespread praise.

    Mary discusses her childhood into her teenage years and early twenties, and also where she was caught in the depths of drug and alcohol addiction whilst also performing at the top level in ladies GAA.

    Discussing candidly how she turned her life around, she shares her life lessons to inspire others and allow others to learn from her experience.

    Mary is a true inspiration and her story highlights the parallels between addiction and high performance behaviours, showcasing her as a beacon of hope and empowerment.
