This was a closer than expected fight with two sets of equally matched players and some of the best quizzers we have seen on the series so far. Twenty-eight teams entered, and now we are down to the last two. Edinburgh tried their best, but Reading have come out on top, and now we have a truly remarkable finale to look forward to. We are finally out of the labyrinth of the Quarter Finals and are down to the final four teams of this season of University Challenge. St Johns put up a brave fight and kept on coming back fighting, but this time Reading won out. However, the sportsmanship of Hutchinson was not lost on us. Don't let the low score fool you, this was an intense game of University Challenge made all the more challenging by the truly brutal questions asked this time around! Both teams have done so well, but alas we have to say goodbye to King's London as Emmanuel has secured a place in the semi-finals with the literal skin of their teeth. Join us as we discuss this crazy match, as well as learning in real-time what the 'kitchen-sink' movie genre is about and try to wrap our heads around that picture round.

There you have it, another team has been knocked out of the quarter-finals of University Challenge. Trinity were strong, but in this high-stakes Cambridge derby, it was St John's that came out on top. How the teams performed, as well as musing on Japanese Prints, the romance of shipwrecks and how 1981 and 1982 were very interesting years.

Despite several lost points and a concerted effort from the Emmanuel team, the last Scottish University in the competition clinched it at the very last.
