I want to become reliable.
To make my word be my bond. To have faith in myself that if I say something is going to happen, that I will follow through. This is a challenge inspired by the Daily Stoic.

Did you hit all your goals this year?
Setting up New Year's Resolutions can feel demotivating. You have so much time to make progress but in the end it sometimes feel like you've done nothing. For myself I failed to hit a decent number of my goals this year. So why am I happy with them?
The progress I have made in my life has been because I've set a direction. I gave myself something to work towards. I may not have hit everything, but I am so much closer to them now than I was before. You likely have had a similar experience. You feel bad missing a goal. Yet you can appreciate how far you've come.
The ability to set goals is a skill. One that you can develop with practice and self-understanding. Don't let missing a goal prevent you from setting them. Setting the goal is only half the battle. Your efforts determine the rest.

Has your personality changed?
The idea of who we are is meant to grow with us. Who you were at 15 is different than who are at 20, or 25. Because your sense of self can get shaken up we have to know how to find it again. Being called boring used to be an insult, but not anymore.
Today boring is a contrarian goal. To understand what gets you excited. Even if others find it boring. You shouldn't force yourself into one box or label. Instead, you should find what you want to pursue. And often chasing a goal with consistency can look boring from the outside. That's why there is surprising value in slowing down and letting boring be the goal. Because you can create outsized results, from plain old boring consistency over time preventing distractions. 3 out of 10 workers are estimated to quit this year, should you?
It sounds scary to say 30% of the workforce could be leaving their jobs within the next year. However, that isn't the right move for everyone. It might not be the right move for you.
We can miss the larger pictures when we get stuck in our own little world. Knowing that within your current job, you may not love it, but it may be the gateway to something greater.
Sometimes a lateral move is necessary. Other times, you need to leave the company because there isn't any upward mobility or room to grow.
But it comes down to your goals, your career hopes, and your personal situation. An unmarried 20-year-old will have a different situation than a married 35-year-old with 2 kids.
So quitting your job needs to be a decision you weigh carefully. Because there might be an opportunity staring you right in the face where you are now.

If you believe Gen Z is lazy, you've been lied to.
Gen Z is as lazy as every generation before us. Some of us are lazy, some of us are hardworking, and most of us fall right in the middle, just like everyone else. However, this narrative exists because of negative news cycles. Knowing that a negative claim gets clicks.
Ignoring that it's impossible for an entire generation to suddenly become lazy. Millennials were given the same treatment, same as Gen X, and so on.

Hobbies don't all fall into a neat and simple box. And for the past two decades, hobbies have become more and more important. Hobbies not only allow you to learn they allow you to connect.
When you understand what your hobbies are, you understand where your community might be too.
Explore your interest. Go deep into your niche interest. Let your hobbies become a part of who you are because you are a sum of your experiences and interests.

Is work-life balance possible to achieve?
In Short, yes.
Is it the right goal to work towards? That's the real question. You work to live. Which means, your job should fuel your life. If they are working together you can't have work and life opposing each other. For Gen Z having balance in our lives is important to our happiness. However, it is better understood as finding our own versions of harmony, within our lives. While that's different for everyone, it all rests upon the five pillars of a happy and healthy lifestyle: health, wealth/career, relationships, fulfillment/learning, and spirit. That's why we need to dive into, are we cutting ourselves short by OVERFOCUSING on work-life balance?
Let's keep everything simple, and make progress one step at a time.
