HAPPY WINTER SOLSTICE!!!
In honor of the shortest day of the year and the coldest season of the year, we are releasing two conversations with one of the coolest (literally) guys I've met, Ryan Wanless!!
The first half is a conversation after Ryan survived the coldest Arrowhead 135 and the second half is years later after he completed the 1,000 mile Iditarod on foot!!
Enjoy the episode!! Happy Holidays!! -
This week’s BIGFOOT REPLAY is with adventurer, polar explorer, environmentalist, Minnesotan, and wonderfully nice guy Paul Schurke!!
Paul is a legend in the adventure world- completing multiple expeditions to the North Pole (including an unsupported trip in the 80s), dogsledding across Siberia (to convince the US and Soviet Union to open the Bering Strait to help out Inuit families), following in the footsteps of Teddy Roosevelt’s River of Doubt expedition in the Amazon, crossing South Georgia Island by the same route as Ernest Shackleton, and so much more. -

"That day, for no particular reason, I decided to go for a little run." - Forrest Gump
I'm extremely excited to welcome Rob Pope, the real life Forrest Gump, to this week's show!
Over the last few years, Rob has taken on the EPIC challenge of recreating Forrest Gump's famous run. Over 15,000 miles across the United States 5 times, he tested the limits of his own endurance and experienced the U.S. to the absolute fullest. Over his year and a half adventure he experienced highs and lows, received major support from strangers along the way, and ran through some of the most iconic places in the country. The human connections he made, along with the places he explored were life changing. Completing the challenge was absolutely unprecedented.
Today's episode is all about this INCREDIBLE ADVENTURE.
Rob shares how one of his last conversations with his mother about "Doing one thing that makes a difference in this world" inspired this challenge. He also chats about the adventures he had along the way, along with the obstacles he had to overcome (including a torn quadricep..yikes!). We also talk a lot about one of my favorite subjects....Tom Hanks!
Please check out Rob's website. He would love your help supporting two excellent charities- Peace Direct and World Wildlife Fund.
Enjoy!!

This week we are chatting with competitive cyclist Hannah Otto about her film "Kokopelli Strong" documenting her quest to set the FKT on the Kokopelli Trail!!
Hannah has been an elite athlete since she was 9 years old, has competed in major cycling races all over the world, and recently stepped up to the challenge of riding the Kokopelli Trail as fast as possible.
The film is a wonderful story, documenting the ups and downs, successes and failures of a very driven person trying to do something incredibly difficult. It's a beautiful example of failure being the foundation from which you succeed.
The Kokopelli Trail is my favorite place on earth and has changed me at a deeply personal level so I was very excited to geek out about this place with someone who understands the power this place holds!
I truly hope you enjoy the episode and encourage you to check out Hannah's Film "Kokopelli Strong"!!

This week we are chatting once again with "the Canadian Berserker" Noel Thomson!!
In this episode we dive deep into how mental health, ultra running and fitness all interweave.
Noel is very open and vulnerable with some of the struggles he has faced in his life and how "controlling what he can control" with exercise and ultra running has helped him climb out of a hole of depression and drug abuse. We also chat about the importance of talking to someone when we find ourselves in those deep dark places and why it's hard for men to do that sometimes.
This was a really important episode and a conversation that will stick with me for a long time!
If you need help or are struggling, please understand that there are people out there to help. Reach out.
