MAN I have been BUSY! I have almost no time at all to research these episodes anymore, but, that just means there’s opportunities for growth in other departments :) in this episode I give you guys a little update on where I’ve been for the past couple months, what to expect from Model POV, where you can stay updated on me now (Instagram & my other podcast), and you get to hear me debate myself on what content I should add. Thank you very much for the patience, understanding, and incredible amount of support I’ve received! I tend to beat myself up about not being able to be as attentive as I’d like, but thanks to you guys, I know you understand the situation

We’ve all had some bad photos taken of us, but what makes a bad photo BAD? Camera lens distortion, the subject being too close to the camera, focus, lighting, and more! Despite the extensive list, we almost never think of these due to how our brains interpret information from photos- we just let the photo define us, or another person.

From “Heroin Chic” in the 90’s-2000’s, to the “Vinegar Diet” of Lord Byron, to the now extremely popular cosmetic surgery- the BBL- that is literally killing people, how far will people go to attain a socially constructed ideal? In this episode we unpack diet culture and it’s origins, and I remind you all that the easily consumable media we have at our fingertips today is the reason for it- despite diet culture’s influence in the 20th century.

Harvey Glatman, who was active in the 1950’s was dubbed the “Glamour Girl Killer” for his selection of victims, with 3 of them being models who were recruited from agencies. His crimes had actually inspired another infamous serial killer, the BTK Killer, specifically in the usage of rope.

I have no time to research anything, so here’s more life advice :’) please bear with me, and thank you for your patience! Narcissists aren’t obsessed with themselves as often as we think they are- in fact, it’s actually the opposite. Why does it happen? How can you prevent narcissists from gaining control over your peace of mind? By understanding you are not responsible for their feelings

In 2008, the supermodel Ruslana Korshunova- also known as the “Russian Repunzel” because of her knee-length hair, lept to her death from the balcony of her Manhattan apartment. Many close to her said she showed no signs of mental illness, but that she did have connections to a Russian cult: the Rose of the World

In my last episode, or maybe the one before that, I had briefly mentioned that I wanted to get my friend Maddy on the podcast to discuss the topic of social norms with me. In this episode, not only do we discuss that, but also how it had affected Maddy living in a small town for most of her life vs. my lived experience with them, having grown up in a city with a population of 200,000 or so (still small, but significantly bigger than her town). We discuss how they’re limiting beliefs, the lessons we’ve learnt overcoming them, and how to break free from the mental repetition.

Hello!!! I’m back from the dead (midterms)!! With the Fashion Worker’s Act making as much headway as it has over the past few weeks, I thought we’d talk about something that seems to be on a lot of people’s minds- would unionizing the fashion industry be beneficial? Or would it deter it even more? In this episode I list 5 pros and 5 cons of unionizing that not many people would think of at first glance.

I have nothing to say aside from it’s always better to stay in your lane ✨

I’m sure we’ve all been in social situations where we feel like we can’t really say what’s on our mind, or that nobody cares, but why do we actually feel like this? Short answer: social norms, a humanly devised constraint on human behaviour that isn’t law (everyone just think it is). Allowing ourselves to be fully open is one of the only tried and true methods of living as our highest selves.

HELLO!!! IVE BEEN GONE FOR SO LONG BUT WELCOME TO ALL THE NEW FRIENDS WHO HAVE FOUND ME! ❤️ In this episode I give you some of my life updates- why I’ve been gone for a bit, school, self-employment, etc.- and then explain why these moments of disappearing are so important, why they help me/you come back better, and how to give yourself grace as you learn. Thanks for listening!

What prevents you from being manipulated? Yourself. Who’s employing you as a model? Yourself. (Surprise! It’s not your agency.) That being said, it’s completely up to you for your career’s progress, and that’s why it’s so important to speak up for yourself when you’re uncomfortable or don’t agree with what’s being suggested to you :)

So often we are saying how agents don’t treat models the best, and it is true! In some instances. The majority of the time it’s knowing who you can work with, openly communicate with, and learn from, and who is only hiring you to make money off of you paying for training, portfolio shoots, etc. From my experience, having agents you can talk to about anything has been way more beneficial for me than trying to figure out how to navigate this industry on my own. It may sound like the bare minimum (and it is), but sometimes people don’t realize that simple respect & kindness is what you should always expect from your employer. Consequently, you need to be respectful and kind too if you expect to get anywhere with your career- in a creative industry or not

It’s soooo hard to get things done when you have a small voice in the back of your head telling you you’ll never accomplish anything. Even more so when you have other people telling you that. How can you move past the negativity and into alignment with yourself? You do it anyways, hope for the best and prepare for the worst. Why do you think the way that you do? What triggered it? In this episode we learn how to be introspective with ourselves.

A whole bunch of articles about me came out yesterday & the comments my friends saw of people who weren’t fully in agreement with the legislation is exactly why times need to change and exactly why I started doing this. I could’ve reacted differently, but responding to the comments would be me pretty much throwing away every lesson I’ve learnt thus far. In this episode I talk about how I turned my anger I had as a teen to my drive to do better & help others as an adult.

Naive teenagers always need to have a parent or guardian with them in regards to business meetings, I’m a prime example of that. I talk about my struggles with mental health as a teen & how modeling affected it, physically, mentally, and spiritually. TW: Eating Disorder, Depression, Anxiety

A 2021 study by NewsCorp found that 91% of consumers agree there’s still room to grow in regards to diversity in advertising, yet while this need for inclusion is happening within societies, AI models are on the rise and modeling in the two most common industries: E-Commerce & Commercial modeling. What does it mean for models, and how will this affect society’s perceptions of beauty moving forward?

Happy Halloween, here’s something even spookier…corporate greed!

Victoria’s Secret has been a fashion mogul for decades, having influenced not only my generation but the previous, and the one before that. They have been around FOREVER. However, in that time, they’ve also perpetuated a culture of abuse- ranging from the sexual abuse of their models to an unhealthy ideal they showed to the public. I talk about all the details of it in here, as well as how it influenced I & those around me growing up.
