Laura from Germany had always dreamed of traveling around Australia in a converted van but didn't know how to go about buying and building one.
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit and Laura's job was unaffected, she decided to pursue her dream. She discovered the "Adopt a Backpacker" movement in Australia, where Australian families took in stranded backpackers, and she posted on Facebook asking for help with buying and building a van.
A man named David responded, offering to help Laura and let her stay with his family in Brisbane for three weeks.
David's family also gave Laura camping equipment and serviced her car, all without expecting any payment.
Laura was overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity shown to her and considers it one of the most amazing experiences anyone could have.
Laura also talks about the challenges she faced on the road, such as losing her oil cap on a 200-kilometer corrugated road and having her tires worn off.
Despite the challenges, she says she would do it all again because she learned so much and was able to overcome obstacles with the help of others.
The conversation also touches on the generosity of people in Australia, who are always willing to help out travelers in need.

Vince Betham's trip to New Zealand with his family during the pandemic was a unique and unexpected adventure.

Trevor Perry is a pilot who also enjoys traveling. He has a unique schedule that allows him to take long periods of time off work and travel the world.
He has been doing this for 8 years and during that time he has gone on a trip every month. He had the opportunity to go to some unique locations and experience off-grid adventures.
For example, while on a layover in Costa Rica, he went surfing till sunset but got lost and had to swim through crocodile-infested waters to get to his hotel on time.
Trevor and Perye were discussing the fatigue that pilots can experience while flying, especially during long and red-eye flights.
Trevor explains that despite having regulations regarding duty and flight times, fatigue is still a common issue in the aviation industry.
However, all commercial airliners have at least two pilots and on ultra long-haul flights, they even have augmented crews with additional pilots who take turns flying the plane to minimize the impact of fatigue.
People are friendly in many places but it depends on the region.
In Kurdistan, people are incredibly friendly and would invite travelers into their homes for tea and bread. In Somaliland, people are also friendly and show a genuine interest in talking to travelers.
However, in some regions, there could be situations where one may feel uncomfortable but those are rare instances. Overall, people are open to meeting and talking to travelers.

Georgia and her family have been traveling around Australia in a van for the past three months and are preparing for a year-long journey around the country.
They are currently in Brisbane, staying in someone's backyard to get ready for their next adventure. Georgia shares that the idea to travel came about during the COVID-19 pandemic, as they were looking for a way to continue having a lifestyle of adventure and travel.
She also mentions that she had recently left her corporate career and sold an Amazon business she had been building on the side, which gave her a sense of financial freedom and time to plan the journey.
She also mentions that they have learned a lot during the test run and are excited to see how all their planning pays off.
