When I started learning to code, I didn’t realize how much the tools I used would impact my experience. One of the first hurdles I faced was picking a text editor. I had no idea there were so many options, each with its own strengths and quirks. What seemed like a small decision at first turned out to be a game-changer in how comfortable and productive I felt while coding.
Today, I want to talk about a few popular text editors like VS Code, Sublime Text, and Atom. Choosing one might feel like a big decision, but here’s the truth: there’s no right or wrong answer. It all depends on what feels right for *you*.
Let’s start with VS Code. This editor is like a Swiss Army knife, it’s powerful, versatile, and full of features to make your coding life easier. From built-in Git integration to extensions that customize your experience, VS Code is a favorite for many developers, especially beginners. Once you get comfortable, it starts feeling like a personal coding assistant.
Now, there’s Sublime Text, the speed demon of text editors. If you want something fast, simple, and distraction-free, Sublime Text is a great pick. It’s lightweight, opens in seconds, and gets the job done without any unnecessary extras.
Then we have Atom, which I like to call the “customization haven". It’s incredibly flexible, letting you tweak almost everything about it. If you enjoy having full control over your tools, Atom is worth checking out.
The best part? You don’t have to commit to just one. Try them out! Experimenting with different tools is a great way to figure out what works for you. And remember, your choice can evolve as you grow in your web development journey.
I actually dived deeper into this topic on my podcast episode this week, where I shared some personal insights and experiences with these editors. If you’re curious about how to choose the right tools for your development journey, click the link and listen to the latest episode on Oj's Tech Odyssey

Starting your web development journey can be exciting, but when it comes to picking the right tools, it can also be a bit overwhelming. With so many options out there, where do you even begin?
When it comes to choosing tools, simplicity is key, especially for beginners. You don’t need to know everything right away. Instead, focus on a few essential tools that will make your learning process smoother and more efficient.
First off, every developer needs a good text editor. For beginners, Visual Studio Code (VS Code) is a fantastic choice. Why? It’s easy to use, and you can customize it with extensions to make coding in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript much more efficient. Think of VS Code as your coding companion,it helps you write, organize, and edit your code with features like autocompletion and error detection. It was a game changer for me, and I still use it every day.
Next up is version control, and this is something you’ll thank yourself for learning early on. Git and GitHub are must-haves for any web developer. Not only do they help you keep track of changes in your code, but they also allow you to collaborate with others or contribute to open source projects. It’s like having a time machine for your code, you can experiment without worrying about breaking things permanently.
Once you’re comfortable with the basics, you’ll probably start hearing about frontend frameworks like React, Vue.js, or Angular. These tools help you build more dynamic and interactive websites by streamlining your workflow. If you're working on a larger project, frameworks can make a huge difference in how efficiently you write and organize your code.
Lastly, when it’s time to show off your work, deployment platforms like Netlify and GitHub Pages are perfect for beginners. They’re easy to use and let you put your project live on the web with just a few clicks. There's nothing quite like seeing your first website live and accessible to the world!
The best part? You don’t have to learn all of these tools at once. Start with the basics; VS Code, Git, and GitHub and build from there. As you gain more experience, you can explore frameworks and deployment tools to level up your skills.
Want a deeper dive into these tools? I’ve covered all of this and more in my latest podcast episode on Oj’s Tech Odyssey. Tune in to hear my take on how each of these tools can help you become a more efficient developer, and discover which ones are right for you.

HTML & CSS Basics
If you're just getting started or thinking about exploring the world of web development, let me introduce you to the foundational building blocks of the web: HTML and CSS. These two technologies are the backbone of every website you visit, they structure the content and style that makes the web come alive!
HTML (HyperText Markup Language) gives websites their structure, like headings, paragraphs, links, and images. It's the blueprint that lays out what you'll see on a page.
CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) is what makes that structure beautiful and interactive! It’s the design layer, controlling colors, fonts, spacing, and overall layout to ensure a seamless and visually pleasing experience.
Where to Start?
Starting with HTML and CSS can seem a bit intimidating, but don't worry, it’s all about taking it step by step. Whether you’re looking to build a simple webpage or start a full-blown website project, learning these basics will empower you to create things on the web in no time
Want to Dive Deeper into This?

My Journey Into Web Development: From Zero to Building My First Website
I never considered myself a "tech person." In fact, a few years ago, if you'd asked me what coding was, I wouldn’t have had much of an answer. However, my curiosity eventually led me into the world of web development, and I’ve been on this journey ever since.
It all began when I wanted to customize my personal blog but couldn’t find the flexibility I needed on free platforms. That desire to have more control over the design and functionality sparked my search for "how to build your own website." What started as a simple search quickly turned into a deep dive into HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
I still remember the excitement of writing my first line of HTML:
Hello, World
Seeing those words appear on the screen was a magical moment. It gave me the confidence to keep learning, and I soon realized that HTML and CSS were only the beginning. When I moved on to JavaScript, things became more challenging. At first, I struggled. Syntax errors and debugging felt overwhelming, and I seriously considered giving up.
This journey taught me that you don’t need to be a "tech person" to get started with web development. All you need is curiosity, persistence, and a community of people who support you—whether online or in person. I’m excited to keep learning and see where this path leads.

Pay now, Play later: Expectations vs Reality;
There's a war going on inside, outside, on social media, in front of our very own eyes and between some of our best friends. That war between what people are saying, doing and the actions they either are or are not taking, and to be honest, I've found myself experiencing the same battle too. I'd be foolish to say that I haven't.
Way too many people are asking themselves, where am I going to have dinner tonight and what am I going to drink? Which club are we going to? And which games are we going to play at the casino tonight. The inability to delay short term gratification is slowly but surely hurting our society... A lot of people close to me are always saying they are introverts until I got to know what that word really means.
I always used to believe that introverts are people who do not talk or communicate a lot this is completely untrue. If they are comfortable with you, they communicate even more than an extrovert, they just do not gain energy being with people in general.
