  • Let's be honest, I started podcasting because an audio-first platform is a little more comfortable for a fat girl than a YouTube channel. And podcasting has been a great, comfortable way for me to get my voice out there without going too far outside of my comfort zone.

Continuing on my journey of introducing/re-introducing myself, I thought Iā€™d talk about how and why I ended up podcasting in the first place. And how itā€™s helped me feel more confident (even if Iā€™m still not quite ready to start a YouTube challenge).

We're talking about how to deal with people who suck on the internet, and how you can go about finding your own voice. I think it's important that everyone has a chance to find their own voice ā€” so that's what we're talking about today.

  • On a whim I decided to record and release a new episode. Here's the thing, I'm always so worried about making something perfect that I forget to just make it in the first place. So this is going to be the first in a series of barely-edited episodes that are basically about whatever I want them to be ā€” because I can.

We are back with The Fattest Girl in the Room ā€” a podcast about being a fat girl in a not so fat friendly world. I'm your hostest with the mostest, Tae, the blogger behind the plus size fashion and lifestyle blog Hello, Taee (which you should absolutely check out because it's awesome). It's been almost two years since I started this podcast, and close to 10 months since I posted an episode... so I've decided to walk it back and start with a relatively clean slate. I'm not deleting any old episodes (I know you are all dying to hear about my crush on Brendan Fraser), but I am taking the time to re-introduce myself.

I am definitely not representative of every fat girl in the world. Nor can I be said to cover every fat girl in North America or even Canada, I'm just one fat girl with a microphone who likes to hear her own voice... sometimes. But I do have some stories that you can probably relate to, and, if nothing else, you can laugh at me making fun of myself.

I'm super stoked about what we've got in store for the future of this show, and I'm thrilled you're taking the time to come hangout with me.

  • Let's tackle celebrity crushesā€”we all have them (even if we try not to admit it) and it's possible they might have played a bigger role this past year for you ;)

We're digging into Tae's history of celebrity crushesā€”from the first ("Rapper" from Commander Kellie and the Superkids) to the teen years (Benji and Joel from Good Charlotte, and Jesse McCartney) to the not so figurative man of her dreams, the one, the only, Brendan Fraser (aka George of the Jungle, The Mummy).

We're also talking about why she thinks celebrity crushes are ultimately a good thing, sharing some probably embarrassing but hopefully funny stories about them.

Leah Carey is a sexual communication coach who helps people learn to communicate about sex so they can get what they really want in the bedroom - rather than just tolerating what theyā€™re getting.  She is the host of the podcast Good Girls Talk About Sex.

Sexual freedom is a subject that is deeply personal to Leah because she spent most of her life being a VERY good girl.  Most of the sex she had was either boring or painful, but she endured it because she didnā€™t know she was allowed to ask for anything different.

Having taken her own journey to sexual freedom, she is now passionate about breaking the silence, fear, and shame around womenā€™s sexuality and pleasure, and redefining what it means to be a ā€œgood girl.ā€

You can find her online at www.LeahCarey.com, and on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube at @GoodGirlsTalk.  Her podcast, ā€œGood Girls Talk About Sexā€ is available on all major podcast providers.

  • Welcome back to The Fattest Girl in the Room. This is a podcast about being a fat girl in a not so fat-friendly world. Iā€™m your host Tae, plus-size fashion and fat girl lifestyle blogger at Hello Taee, and in this episode we're talking about what self-love is NOT. Now, I might get a little lecture on you (though that's definitely not my intention) because I want to talk about the incredible importance on continual growth. Loving yourself is only one step, once you have that base love and you've started to build that confidence, it's incredibly important that you grow within it and aim for the best life that you can live. Because however amazing your light might be today, it could always be better.

  • Welcome back to The Fattest Girl in the Room, this is a podcast about being a fat girl in a not so fat-friendly world. Iā€™m your host Tae, plus-size fashion and fat girl lifestyle blogger at Hello Taee, and this episode of the podcast is about how to ask a guy out.

One of the most popular posts on The Single Girlā€™s Guide to Real Adultingā€”which was this blog before it became this blog was a post that I simply had to recreate called How to Ask a Guy Out. Over 10,000 people search ā€œhow to ask a guy outā€ in Google each month, which tells me that there are a ton of people out there looking for the confidence to actually put themselves out there, and, when it comes down to it, itā€™s not really that hard!

On this episode of The Fattest Girl in the Room, Iā€™m walking through my tips and tricks for asking another person out. Weā€™re covering why you should do it in person (not over text message) and why you shouldnā€™t worry yourself out of taking that chance. Itā€™s an easy episode thatā€™s all about asking someone else out, and if youā€™ve ever talked yourself out of it beforeā€”this is an episode that you need to listen to.

This is our FIRST official community episode and today with us we have Joanne French, host of Women Interviews Podcast where she talks to women business owners and they share their journeys to survive and thrive. On The Fattest Girl in the Room Podcast, Joanne is sharing her experience as a plus size woman who's now "regular size" (which we both think is ridiculous because regular size is EVERY size), her thoughts on feeling like the fattest girl in the room and her best advice to her teenage self. This episode is an honest chat about body image and body love at any size and how important it is to be kind to yourself. If you wouldn't say it to your bestie, why are you saying it to yourself?

We are officially onto the second SOAPBOX episode of the week and Iā€™m stoked you decided to come back and hangsies with me. In this episode Iā€™m talking about how I constantly tell myself that Iā€™ll do that ā€œwhen Iā€™m skinnyā€ despite the fact that I have zero plans to lose weight. Anyone else do the same thing?

Us fat girls are constantly delaying doing the things that we REALLY want to do and using our weight as an excuse to delay going after our dreams. Iā€™m sharing the stories of being an accidental TV extra, the time I tried on my grad dress from highschool (spoiler alert: it didnā€™t fit) and just talking about how itā€™s terrible to aim to ā€œlose weightā€ instead of aiming to be healthier.

So, stop holding yourself back from doing something that you truly WANT to do because youā€™re not ā€œskinny enough.ā€ If you happen to be itching to see what I looked like in my grad dress when I was 17? Iā€™ve dropped a few pictures on the episode blog post at Hello Taee.

  • Welcome to the inaugural episode of The Fattest Girl in the Room, this is a podcast about being a fat girl in a not so fat-friendly world. Iā€™m your host Tae, plus-size fashion and fat girl lifestyle blogger at Hello Taee.

In this, the very first SOAPBOX episode of The Fattest Girl in the Room, Iā€™m talking about what it truly means to be the fattest girl in the room. Iā€™m going to talk about who I am (a fat girl who loves fashion, beauty and pop culture), what I look like (hazel eyes, long brown curly hair) what size of clothes I wear (size 18, XXL or 3XL depending on the clothes) and, yes, how much I weight (approx. 280lbs). I am not ashamed of who I am except for those days that I am, and those are the days that I feel like the fattest girl in the room.

I created this podcast for those days that I feel like the fattest girl in the room. The ones where I feel like I stick out like a sore thumb, look incredibly unattractive or simply feel like a flat blob (seriously all the time). I made it because I know that I am not the ONLY person who feels like this because we are constantly being bombarded with images and ideas of ā€œthe perfect bodyā€ or ā€œthe perfect womenā€ or ā€œthe perfect [literally insert ANYTHING here]. But life isnā€™t perfect, our bodies arenā€™t perfect and, you know what, they arenā€™t supposed to be? This world is filled with perfectly imperfect humans and itā€™s the most beautiful thing, and I am so sick of constantly feeling like my imperfect body is worth less than anyone elseā€™s because itā€™s fat.

So, in this episode, Iā€™m sharing one of the first times I remember feeling like the fattest girl in the room and how even if youā€™re listening to this podcast and you clearly arenā€™t fat, it doesnā€™t mean that you never have that same feeling. Being the fattest girl in the room is a universal feeling. For me it takes the form of being fat, but for you it might be the fact that youā€™re too skinny, your nose is too big, you have eyes that are too far apartā€¦ seriously, whatever your thing is, weā€™re all in it together.

So, this is the podcast where we talk about fat girl problems, being positive about our bodies regardless of what they look like, appreciating what we have, taking care of our well being, living our dreams and going after the things that we truly want.

Welcome to The Fattest Girl in the Room, Iā€™m glad you decided to join us. We donā€™t have tee-shirts yet, but one day soon we probably will šŸ˜‰
