Hey! We’re back! Well, half of us are back for the time being.
Willis is still out being a new father (no biggie or anything) so Josh is taking over the feed for the next few weeks with a new mini series we are calling a 2020s Mid Point Retrospective! Every week he will be talking about a new movie in a specific genre and then speculating about the most significant films in said genre from the 2020s (this sounds much more complicated than it really is).
This week, he’s starting with Mission Impossible The Final Reckoning and the Top 5 Signature Action Films from the 2020s.

This week however, Josh and Willis are here to talk about the leaked Sizzle Reel for Kung Fury 2, which has long been trapped in distribution hell.
Also, we talk about DVD special features, and how those extras are just kind of...not around anymore.
And finally, Cannes is coming up, and many film journalists are bemoning their lack of access to stars during the festival. Josh and Willis discuss how film journalism looks today compared to years gone by.

Lots to talk about this week on PixelSplitters!
Marvel is back in the news with their unique* casting announcement for Avengers: Doomsday.
Also, things are changing over at MGM/Amazon. Jen Salke is stepping down, and Amy Pascal and David Heyman are stepping up to helm James Bond.
Finally, what on earth is going on with Warner Bros? They've sold the distribution rights for their long-shuttered Coyote vs Acme, and Zazlov's handpicked project, Alto Knights, has completely tanked. All eyes turn to Superman to save WB.
Lots to discuss. Tune in and puzzle over the big questions with us.

Put on your theory caps, dear listener. Today on Pixelsplitters, we are getting abstract.
Staircase Studios is a new production company working to create AI feature films, and they're trying to do it on the up and up. Is there a place for this in Hollywood? What about Film Bros? Is there a place for them?
Finally, Josh and Willis want to talk about the concept of New Literalism as it pertains to modern cinema. Is everything too on the nose these days? Is there no room for ambiguity? Our brains were spent after this episode. Listen in and let us know what you think!
