This book is the last one of the novellas, and we hate to say that we're relieved. Tara stated that she liked this book as much as she liked "Chaos," and that is to say she didn't really like it much at all. AJ just finds this book a bit silly, not to mention the fact that twice "talking to the dead" is mentioned and Eve rolls her eyes when EVE LITERALLY TALKED TO THE DEAD IN "POSSESSION IN DEATH!!" That being said, there are some funny moments in the book, so it is still an okay book from that standpoint. We both love when Roarke says the "didn't come down in the last shower of rain," and the end where Eve and Peabody are both under the influence after taking down the bad guy. Also, for some reason, Eve is a bit judgmental over the fact that one of the victims had "over a dozen bras," which to us seems a normal amount (and we're sure that Eve has WAY more bras/support tanks in her closet).

In this 2024 Holiday Episode, we imagine a year where, Eve and Roarke are so busy with their jobs or with that they did not have time to plan their annual Christmas Party. This is unacceptable to Mavis, so Mavis decides to plan a surprise Christmas party for Eve and Roarke (which Roarke would love and Eve would hate). But Eve and Roarke realize they don't have gifts for anyone at the party, so they rush to their gift room to find gifts for everyone.
So, given this scenario, we found 30 luxury gifts that they might find in the gift room, one gift for each person at the party. We will say a character name randomly, and then we will both decide what gift Eve and Roarke would give each of their friends. It's a really fun episode!
We hope you enjoy the episode and Happy Holidays!

In this episode, we Review the Reviews of "Devoted in Death." We knew they were going to be bad (for the most part). But we're always surprised at how many people continue to read and review these books who clearly don't like the characters, the writing, and essentially the series itself. We've decided it's a kink...they get off on reading books they don't like and then writing reviews talking about how the author needs to stop writing the books you hate. Makes no sense. But anyway...
Among those are the people who said:
"S&M and torture? Thanks but no thanks.""I don't pay for sloppy work. At all.""Hate romance novels disguised as thriller.""..this series really needs to end.""...it seems like it's always Christmas, about to be Christmas or just after Christmas.""...extreme foul language used by Eve"Not to mention the review in all caps that said: "MORE OF THIS IRRITATING TREND OF TRYING TO MAKE EVE FUNNY - I JUST KNOW IT WAS VERY NOTICEABLE TO ME. AND, I DON'T LIKE IT..."
Among the good reviews, we have:
"I listened on Audio and as usual Susan Ericksen does a fab job!""Pulpy fun, routine formula but well written...""...the sizzling speed and urgency of the investigation keep the reader turning pages quickly."Plus, we talk about a LOL moment that we missed on the last episode, Roarke metaphorically marks his territory with Eve, and we're really upset to realize that we were hoping to read "Brotherhood in Death" next, but it's actually the last novella of the series: "Wonderment in Death." BOO!

In this episode, we discuss some of our favorite moments from the books that actually made us laugh out loud. Nora Roberts is just a genius with dialogue, we can't say enough good things about her writing. But also, it's Susan Ericksen's delivery of the lines in the audiobooks that makes every one of these moments a chef's kiss.

In this episode of the Podcast in Death, we talk about ‘Devoted in Death’ by JD Robb. This is a book that many fans (including us) read once and rarely if ever read again because the crimes in this book are very disturbing. BUT… the good parts of this book [...]

In this episode of the Podcast in Death, we discuss who we would choose to be with or help us in various activities, from movie nights to road trips. To make it more interesting, we decided that we could not choose Eve or Roarke for any of our activities, and [...]

In this episode of “Podcast in Death,” we talk about all of our favorite Commander Whitney moments from the books. From Eve and Whitney watching the fish that Anna Whitney got him for his desk swimming around in it’s bowl to Whitney going with the gang to Ireland. From him [...]

This week, we review the book that many feel is an homage to Nora’s often obsessed fan base. The murderer this book is an obsessive fan of Eve’s that leaves her notes written on the walls of the crime scenes and signed with: Your True Friend. Eve discovers that she [...]

In this episode, we read listener comments, and a few more horrible comments around the internet about “Passions in Death.” Message for those who have not yet read “Passions in Death”: We apologize for more “Passions in Death” content. We will be back next time with “Obsession.” Message for those [...]

Brace yourselves, everyone! These reviews are really off the rails in this episode, and Tara and AJ go off the rails as well. If you haven’t read “Passions in Death,” you will want to skip this episode. But, for the rest of you, we get a little bit…passionate (ha ha) [...]

In this episode, we review the latest book, “Passions in Death!” This book hit a bit close to home for both AJ and Tara in different ways. But, we love the fact that Nora is adding more LGBTQ representation in the books. What we don’t love are the two main [...]

In this episode, we talk with author Cathy Wiley about the characteristics of cozy mysteries and how they relate to the In Death series. We explore the traits common in cozy mysteries, such as the absence of graphic language and the presence of relatable protagonists, and talk about how many [...]

For this episode of the podcast, Tara and AJ did a Facebook Live event and played some of the same games that we played a few weeks ago. But this time, we let our Facebook listeners answer the questions with some really interesting results. Have Fun!

On this episode of Podcast in Death, we review the reviews of “Festive in Death,” and the very first review, according to Tara, is “The Best Review Ever!” But besides that, we talk about Reviews that say: “Eve has evolved into a whiny, ungrateful snot.” “There is also a LOT [...]

In this episode, we take a look at more Reddit threads about the “In Death” series. But, we had so much to say about the first two threads we look at that we were unable to get to any more. So we will have to continue with more Reddit threads [...]

In this episode, AJ and Tara discuss the book ‘Festive in Death’ by J.D. Robb. We both agree that this is the best of the Christmas themed books. We’re not too excited by the murder investigation, because the victim, Trey Ziegler is a complete ass. It’s hard to get excited [...]
-
In this episode of Podcast in Death, we discuss Mavis’ Enneagram type. AJ has labeled Mavis a 7, just like she labeled Peabody a 7 and Tara a 7, but as per usual, she’s wrong. Mavis is most likely a Type 2 on the Enneagram, with Type 3 and Type [...]

This week on Podcast in Death, we review the reviews of “Concealed in Death,” and it’s a very long episode. The reviewers had a LOT to say about this book, and we had a LOT to say about these reviews. But hopefully it’s a very entertaining episode, despite the length. [...]

On this episode of “Podcast in Death,” Tara is the producer and sets up and entire episode of guessing games for AJ to play. It’s a really fun episode that was a lot of fun to record. And the main takeaway is that Adjectives are Hard!
