We thought last game was the most Cardiac Kings game we had ever seen. Well leave it to the Kings to top that in the very next game as they played one the most bizarre games of the year while really pulling on the heart strings of Kings fans.
The Kings were up comfortably at the end of overtime but a boneheaded play by DeRozan caused the Kings to be down 1 after being up 2 with about 10 seconds left. But then he makes up for it with a game winning step-through floater to take the game right back.
It was just one of those kinds of games.

It's never easy with the Kings, and it's even worse when it's the Cardiac Kings. The Kings started out the game horribly, they went down 20 in the first quarter where they were scored on at will from the outside and the inside.
Then the Kings slowly got into rhythm, their bench came in and changed the game, the starters then built off that momentum and by the start of the 4th, the Kings were up 11.
The Kings then increased that lead to 18 before it completely evaporated and it became a back and forth game. The Kings ultimately win the game after some clutch shots and defense.
It was the most cardiac games possible, but it was earned and a great first win for this new look Kings team.

Well the Lavine Era of the Kings has not gotten off to a good start as they lose in a back to back against the Magic and the Blazers.
The offense is a work in progress as Lavine takes time to get comfortable and the defense ..... has not been great.
Both games was against elite defenses with great length that play with incredible physicality, so not exactly the ideal teams to figure things out.
The hope is that things will start to click and the Kings begin to win games again sooner rather than later.

The Kings went into Minnesota and pulled out a gutsy win to get their 1st victory in the Post-De'Aaron Fox Era.
The offense had a different energy and the Big 3 of Sabonis, Monk and DeRozan brought it home for the Kings.

The Kings went into OKC and were expertly destroyed in every facet of the game. They were surgically picked apart in the half court and outhustled, it wasn't even close.
The Kings can hopefully get their mojo back as this road trip has been disastrous so far. They've struggled to score and their defense has been subpar, and the Thunder were more than happy to expose those issues.
Owen and Fong then move on to give their thoughts on the Royal Rumble, and then end with a live reaction to the news that Luka Doncic had been traded to the Lakers for Anthony Davis.

The Sixers were somehow more injured this time around than when they first faced the Kings about a month ago. But the Kings somehow couldn't take advantage and lose a pretty deflating one in Philly.
They just didn't have it tonight, particularly from 3 and their defense was not up to par either.
Add to the fact that the Kings are currently shrouded by trade rumors surrounding Fox, it's only going to add to what has been a very chaotic few days for the Kings.

Kings have always had a bad habit of playing down to the level of their competition. This game was no different, with the Nets missing multiple rotation players, they jumped out on the Kings and got to big lead early and the Kings played catch up for the much of the game.
The Kings were able to turn the tide however in the 2nd half and close it out early in the 4th, but it was way harder than it needed to be.
The Kings get back into the win column but these kinds of games, even when they win them can be frustrating watches as we all know the Kings are able to play better. Let's hope they bring their A game to Philly against the Sixers.

The Kings went down early, came back, and then went down big again. They had it going with Malik Monk going off in the 2nd and 3rd quarters but the game got away from them when they had to go to Fox to carry the offense.
Fox's hands unfortunately is clearly bothering him and the Kings cannot beat a team the level of the Knicks if he is laboring the way he is.
The Kings will need to regroup the next game against Brooklyn after 2 tough losses against 2 tough teams.

It was the best showing of fight and spirit of the Kings in their back to back against the Warriors and Nuggets.
Both games were very similar in process, King went down big, but fought back and made it a game, albeit with differing results in the 2 games.
While it may not always result in wins, it's good to to see the fighting spirit that this team is playing with and it'll always make for good, competitive games.
And that's sometimes all you can ask for as fans.

The Kings get back to .500 at home and get their first win in their classic jerseys. The opponent, supposed NBA team Washington Wizards.
The Kings didn't have their best game, they struggled mightily from 3 and had a number of silly turnovers ... and won by 23. The Wizards are playing a lot young guys and don't have a good grasp on how to play good basketball on either side of the ball. The Kings simply did what they needed to do and took care of business.
The Kings continue their climb up the standing and are now in the thick of the playoff race in the West.

It was a tough gritty win by the Kings, but boy did they put their fans through all the emotions in it.
The Kings were facing a Rockets team that just played in Denver the night before and for stretches, made it look just that way as they caused the Rockets to make silly turnovers and allowing the Kings to build big leads off of it.
But the Rockets would keep fighting, a 16 point Kings lead in the 3rd turned into a 5 point lead heading into the 4th, a 9 point lead in crunch time turned into a 1 point lead a minute later, it was the worst version of Cardiac Kings basketball.
But ultimately, the Kings made their shots and FTs down the stretch and were able to outlast a very tough Rockets team. Great win for the Kings and the clutch games stats is finally starting to turn in their favor.

Welp, the King's streak ends at 7. While part of it is that it wasn't the King's night on either end of the floor, this loss does expose probably the King's biggest issue, which is size in the frontcourt.
Giannis and Lopez simply dominated the Kings inside and they simply didn't have the size and length on the court to compete.
The Kings will now return home for a 3 game homestand and this is where they need to carry over the momentum that they have built and keep going up in the standings.

The Kings extend their winning streak to 7 after winning a fun battle in Chicago. It was an offense heavy battle as both teams scored in bunches, the Kings in the paint and the Bulls from 3.

The Kings went into Boston and finally against a fully healthy team. Not only a fully healthy team, but a team that is bigger, stronger and more experienced team at every position. Plus the fact that star De'Aaron Fox was out for the game it was understandable that their 5 game winning streak would come to an end.
But they beat them. Huh? Yes the Kings somehow outlasted and dominated the defending champs and won going away. It was real show of resilience, toughness and execution by the Kings as they earn their best win of the season and extend their winning streak to 6.

Kings are now streaking as they win their 5th game in a row.
The first win against in Chase was an impressive demolishing of the Warriors on the road. They led the entire game and ended up controlling the game and leading by double digits from the 2nd quarter and on. The Kings played free and their defense was very solid all night, it really showed them rounding into form under Coach Doug Christie.
The next night was also a spectacle, the Kings traveled back to the G1C to face the Heat, and it was great. The Kings fell down big in the 4th but were able to come back down 17 to win in double OT with everyone on the Kings making plays to bring the Kings to victory.
The Kings have built some real momentum here and will now regroup for their biggest test yet as they travel to Boston on Friday to face the defending champs Celtics.

The Kings have now won 3 in a row, and this win the most impressive. While the Grizzlies were missing Ja and an assortment of role players, they are a machine and a very formidable foe.
No matter what the Kings did the Grizzlies kept coming and it even got chippy in moments but the Kings answered every run the Grizzlies hit them with and end up with the win.
The Kings seemed to have rediscovered their confidence and bounce and it will be interesting to see if this carries forward to Sunday and Monday when they face the Warriors and Heat.

It was looking like the same story in the G1C, opposing team comes into Sacramento and can't miss from 3. Meanwhile the Kings are answering back with 2s but can't keep up pace as the opponent slowly pulls away.
That was the story for about 45 minutes of the game. But then the Kings dialed in on defense, and held the Sixers scoreless for the final 3:34 of the game while going on a 15-0 run to end the game and steal the victory.
While a lot of the tropes of a Kings loss were still there, this kind of victory starts to build confidence in a team and hopefully the Kings can start to build their confidence again and find their identity.

Mavs came into the G1C with Kyrie, Luka, Klay, Lively and Naji in street clothes. Surely an easy win for the Kings right? Right?

A lot of the times when there is a coaching change mid-season, it ends up being like the picture of Alex Jones promoting his supplements where the before and after shots look exactly the same with a no real tangible difference.
This is not a criticism of Doug as a coach, but the Kings look just about the same. They did look more sharp in some aspects, but it was the same story, their defense was subpar and they could not make a 3 for long stretches of the game.
We'll have to see if things improve as time goes by, but the Kings are in a bad spot, and there's not many signs that things will be getting better.
