It's been a tough 2 days for the Kings.
First they lose on a buzzer beater in overtime against the Clipper. A game in which they played very well especially defensively only to lose in heartbreaking fashion to Kawhi Leonard.
And on the next night, they simply didn't have it on either end of the floor and get molly-whopped by the Knicks.
It's by no means the end of the world but as it's been said so many times this season, it gets late early and the Kings need to recover from this quick to maintain their spot in the West Playoff race.

The much anticipated return of De'Aaron Fox finally happened. While we can spend hours talking about the reception and reaction that he got, the game itself was a run of the mill game where the more talented team showed itself and ran away with the victory.
The Kings played good defense, and were searing from 3, which neutralized anything the Spurs did and more, leading to the Kings controlling the game with a double digit lead that they never relinquished past the 2nd quarter.
This should shut down the Fox conversation for the time being, and that even with the franchise player gone, Kings fans still come out and support their hometown squad.

The Kings had an interesting game plan to guard arguably the best player in the league. They had Keegan be the primary defender with Jonas as the helper off Westbrook. And it ... worked.
The Kings controlled the game for 3 quarters with this strategy but faltered in the 4th being outscored by 15 in the quarter.
It's a tough loss to swallow but the Kings do finish the road trip 3-1 as they head home for a bittersweet reunion against the Spurs led by former face of the franchise De'Aaron Fox.

You win the games in front of you, and the Kings did just that as they beat the Mavs in Dallas after they lost Irving and Hardy to injury to add to their endless list of sidelined players.
The Mavs were emotionally drained and spiritually depleted after the injuries and the Kings simply took care of business by beating them.
The Kings will now head to Denver and look to get a win to go 4-0 on this road trip.

The Kings pick up a gutsy win in Houston and sweep the season series with the Rockets 3-0. The Kings played well on offense and controlled the game for much of it.
But what was really impressive was the way the Kings defended the Rockets and how they came up with big play after big play on that end throughout the game.

The Kings go into business and beat Utah by 17. There was so bad, mostly good, Kings simply did what they are supposed to do.
Kings will get a upgrade in competition going forward and we will have to see how the Kings will perform under those circumstances with this new squad.
There are signs that point to them doing well, there are signs that point to them getting demolished playing the way they have.

The Kings get a get-right game against the Hornets and handily beat them by 42. It was a tale of 2-Kings though, the 1st half and the 4th quarter, and the disastrous 3rd quarter.
In the 3 quarters where the Kings went bonkers, the Kings had incredible ball movement and flawless execution on the offensive end. And on the other side they played with physicality and intensity on the defensive end to completely demolish the Hornets.
The 3rd quarter was some of the worst basketball the Kings had played this season, headlined by 8 of the worst turnovers that makes you question how these players made the pros.
Which one of these Kings teams will show up more often down the stretch? How will they fare against teams that aren't as decrepit as the Hornets? The answers to these questions will determine how the Kings perform down the stretch of this regular season.

It was a game with high stakes with plenty of build up. 1st game out of the All Star Break, division rivals, playoff opponents with some history in game fighting for important playoff positioning.
Andddd ..... the Kings absolutely get dominated by a more locked in and physical team in the Warriors. It wasn't pretty, and a loss like this really showed one team heading in the right direction and the other heading for disaster.
Is it the end of the world for the Kings, no. They have time to figure things out still but they better do it soon. And with how badly they got punked, they got a lot to figure out.

The Kings went into New Orleans and split the games 1-1 against the Pelicans. It's not the desired result, but it will do. The Kings are clearly still trying to figure out how to gel with this new look group and have gone through some ups and down in the process.
Here's to hoping that All-Star Break will allow the Kings to reset and get some practice time in to get more acclimated.

We thought last game was the most Cardiac Kings game we had ever seen. Well leave it to the Kings to top that in the very next game as they played one the most bizarre games of the year while really pulling on the heart strings of Kings fans.
The Kings were up comfortably at the end of overtime but a boneheaded play by DeRozan caused the Kings to be down 1 after being up 2 with about 10 seconds left. But then he makes up for it with a game winning step-through floater to take the game right back.
It was just one of those kinds of games.

It's never easy with the Kings, and it's even worse when it's the Cardiac Kings. The Kings started out the game horribly, they went down 20 in the first quarter where they were scored on at will from the outside and the inside.
Then the Kings slowly got into rhythm, their bench came in and changed the game, the starters then built off that momentum and by the start of the 4th, the Kings were up 11.
The Kings then increased that lead to 18 before it completely evaporated and it became a back and forth game. The Kings ultimately win the game after some clutch shots and defense.
It was the most cardiac games possible, but it was earned and a great first win for this new look Kings team.

Well the Lavine Era of the Kings has not gotten off to a good start as they lose in a back to back against the Magic and the Blazers.
The offense is a work in progress as Lavine takes time to get comfortable and the defense ..... has not been great.
Both games was against elite defenses with great length that play with incredible physicality, so not exactly the ideal teams to figure things out.
The hope is that things will start to click and the Kings begin to win games again sooner rather than later.

The Kings went into Minnesota and pulled out a gutsy win to get their 1st victory in the Post-De'Aaron Fox Era.
The offense had a different energy and the Big 3 of Sabonis, Monk and DeRozan brought it home for the Kings.

The Kings went into OKC and were expertly destroyed in every facet of the game. They were surgically picked apart in the half court and outhustled, it wasn't even close.
The Kings can hopefully get their mojo back as this road trip has been disastrous so far. They've struggled to score and their defense has been subpar, and the Thunder were more than happy to expose those issues.
Owen and Fong then move on to give their thoughts on the Royal Rumble, and then end with a live reaction to the news that Luka Doncic had been traded to the Lakers for Anthony Davis.

The Sixers were somehow more injured this time around than when they first faced the Kings about a month ago. But the Kings somehow couldn't take advantage and lose a pretty deflating one in Philly.
They just didn't have it tonight, particularly from 3 and their defense was not up to par either.
Add to the fact that the Kings are currently shrouded by trade rumors surrounding Fox, it's only going to add to what has been a very chaotic few days for the Kings.

Kings have always had a bad habit of playing down to the level of their competition. This game was no different, with the Nets missing multiple rotation players, they jumped out on the Kings and got to big lead early and the Kings played catch up for the much of the game.
The Kings were able to turn the tide however in the 2nd half and close it out early in the 4th, but it was way harder than it needed to be.
The Kings get back into the win column but these kinds of games, even when they win them can be frustrating watches as we all know the Kings are able to play better. Let's hope they bring their A game to Philly against the Sixers.

The Kings went down early, came back, and then went down big again. They had it going with Malik Monk going off in the 2nd and 3rd quarters but the game got away from them when they had to go to Fox to carry the offense.
Fox's hands unfortunately is clearly bothering him and the Kings cannot beat a team the level of the Knicks if he is laboring the way he is.
The Kings will need to regroup the next game against Brooklyn after 2 tough losses against 2 tough teams.

It was the best showing of fight and spirit of the Kings in their back to back against the Warriors and Nuggets.
Both games were very similar in process, King went down big, but fought back and made it a game, albeit with differing results in the 2 games.
While it may not always result in wins, it's good to to see the fighting spirit that this team is playing with and it'll always make for good, competitive games.
And that's sometimes all you can ask for as fans.
