Join the guys on another scene breakdown. Big thanks to our Red5Network brother Charles from the ConverSWations Podcast for suggesting this topic. We dive into the scene in A New Hope to see Obi Wan talk to Luke about his father, The Force and the Clone Wars and that convenient little lie told, from 'a certain point of view.'
Was Kenobi justified in telling Luke just enough to keep him curious? Did he manipulate Luke into going with him to Alderaan and starting his Hero's Journey? Do you think it was handled correctly or do you think Obi-Wan went too far in his supposed deception? We break down the scene and examine the dialogue and body language and see how brilliantly Sir Alec Guiness' performance lent itself to the believability and implications this conversation had as a whole.
Plus we got a new #SentryMode segment with our friend Daniel Sparks. Tune in and see how he does with our Star Wars five question trivia.
Thanks to all who listen, remember, we are a proud founding member of the Red5Network, and that's the scuttlebutt! -

Join Ro and Brad in welcoming back Steve Sansweet from Rancho Obi Wan. There is big news when it comes to collectibles, especially from the perspective of the largest collectors like Steve and Rancho Obi Wan. We'll hear what Steve has been up to and talk about how the Star Wars collectibles space has changed over the last few years. -
Come back to the cafe and enjoy a nice beverage with Ro and guest Daniel Sparks. We start out by chatting about collectibles and dive right into our main topic, the 'dark-times' for Star Wars fans. A period after the Return of the Jedi and prior to the announcement of George Lucas' announcement that he was working on a new trilogy. If you were a Star Wars fan, what kept you active during these dark times when there was hardly any Star Wars? Was the landscape as empty as we say it was? We find out something very interesting as we discuss, remember and reminisce.

Let's head back into the OT with a breakdown of scene 114, the Emperor's confrontation with Luke. What really happened there? Did Vader save Luke before his son redeemed him? Ro and Brad discuss how the scene builds starting with Luke's conversation with his father on Endor and how that conversation reveals something about Vader.
Listen in and see if you agree. Plus a brand new #SentryMode with Alberto from Radio Rebellion Podcast. Join in on the fun and tell us what you think. Shoot us an email at [email protected] or leave a voicemail at 773-234-8659

Brad and Ro hang out in the cafe and discuss the question that only we are asking, do we still need Jedi after the sequels? Does the lore of the Jedi need to change or can this ancient mystical group still survive a modern Star Wars?
We react to many of our follower responses to this Twitter question. Thank you all for giving us your two cents. PLUS, we play a voicemail from the Scuttlebutt Hotline where we're asked about all the YouTube drama. What are our thoughts? How do we see it and why are people calling us shills? Well, maybe not this week.

Yoda proclaimed it. Fear, Anger, Hate, Suffering, all elements that lead to the Dark Side. Anakin embodied all that to become transformed into arguably, the greatest villain to ever exist in movies, the dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader. We know of his dark trajectory, but how do those things play out in our own lives? Can we be turned to the Dark Side as Anakin was? Are we immune to those feelings? Ro and Brad welcome Dr Peter Demuth to the show and discuss the four pillars of Anakin's transformation. Dr Demuth is a clinical psychologist and author of Monsters in Life and Literature which gives him unique insight to this discussion.
We explore how these very strong emotions can act in a way that transformed Anakin and pose the question, do we all have darkness in us? Join this deep dive discussion and explore the nature of these emotions and how our movie antagonists are a dark reflection of a possible outcome in real life. Demuth has spent decades studying, evaluating, and treating violent criminals and we bring him on to break down how a simple slave boy from Tatooine becomes the most feared villain in the galaxy.

What genre of film has been more inspiring than the genre of science fiction? We would venture to say no other. Science fiction has the ability for us to ask questions, look at problems in a unique way and discover our own limitations and strengths through our own wonder.
How does sci-fi affect our way of thinking? We ask these questions and discover how powerful our interaction with science fiction is. Join Ro in the cafe on Scarif with Robert and Captain Kaos of the Science Fiction Remnant on this week's episode of the Scarif Scuttlebutt Podcast.
If you have your own thoughts, we'd like to hear. Hit us up on Twitter and let us know what you think. Consider leaving a review on your favorite podcast app.

Brad was watching some Star Wars shows the other weekend with the kids and he noticed something interesting, they kids were enjoying it. No complaints, no harsh critiques, no comments about how Kathleen Kennedy is ruining their 'right now' childhood. This observation begged the question, are we too harsh when we critique something we claim to have loved for decades? Do we need to temper our expectations and just rewind to when were were kids ourselves?
Or should we be able to critique and demand better Star Wars through our interactions on social media? Do we fight mediocrity and who should decide what is mediocre and what is not?
Join us along with a panel of individuals who will share their thoughts on this as we record EPISODE 200 of the Scarif Scuttlebutt Podcast. This will be a very robust discussion. We hope to uncover some insight and hopefully engage in level headed conversation about our favorite franchise, in a galaxy far, far away. -
Come back and grab a caf at the Scarif Cafe. Join the conversation with our third episode of short discussions. THis week we welcome Jessi of Crusher Convo as we dive into what our fan experience has been through the years, especially as fans of both Star franchises.
We ask the question if the geek fandom is better when it was a niche market or is it better now that EVERYONE wants to be cool like us. Listen in and tell us what you think.
Plus, we react to your answers on the Question Of THe Week. Big thanks to followers Subtle Deviance and Master Revan for your thoughts.
For more Scarif Cafe, make sure to search the episodes over the last few weeks, grab your sunscreen and your blasters, cause it's always sunny on Scarif.
On our way to 200 episodes, join us LIVE on Saturday the 27th for a poignant discussion on whether we should temper our expectations with new Star Wars shows. The debate will be hotter than a Rancor's butt on Tatooine!
Don't forget, we are proud founding members of the Red5Network. -
Join us as we chat about some of our favorite fan projects. They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and when it comes to Star Wars, there are parodies and fan projects enough to fill the cargo hold of plenty of YT-1300 freighters. Ro talks with the guys of Talk About Tatooine Podcast and some favorite fan projects.
We admire the work put into some of these fan films and compare the early work of films like Troops to more modern fan films like Shadows of the Old Republic. We'll add links to all the mentioned shows here below.
If you like this leisure cafe format let us know and come back or tell a friend. We'd love to read your review on the podcast app of your choice and find out how you're enjoying these shorter to the point episodes. The Scarif Cafe series continues here, don't miss it.

Our inaugural episode on a new series called the Scarif Cafe, a short collection of discussions with friends. EP194 deals with our real world connections. We know the Force binds us, but does it have real world implications? Join Dave Humphreys from What Does Star Wars Mean 2U and Ro in this week's episode as we explore how the Force can be manifested in our own world.
Yoda said we are connected by the Force, if you felt a loved one from far away, a premonition, a feeling, are we feeling that connection in the real world? Join the discussion.
