It iiiiiisssssssssss Sportsfeld Storytime as we finish off our look back at the 1993 Toronto Blue Jays' World Series victory over the hated Philadelphia Phillies. This week, we're looking at the aftermath of the Jays' victory and what would be a swift, and consistent, fall from grace that was interrupted by the 1994 MLB Strike. We also look back at the Jays' struggles throughout the 90s and 2000s, all the way up to regaining their place at the top of the American League East with our beloved 2015 team. At the start of a new year, we're going back to where it all started for us as sports fans: the incredible 1993 Toronto Blue Jays. In this episode we sort through the 1993 regular season, remember that kids under 10 don't remember regular seasons, gaze in wonderment at John Olerud and Paul Molitor, and shake our heads at the idea of adding Rickey Henderson to a championship level roster. Ah, 1993. The Maple Leafs are great, the Blue Jays are unbeatable, and we don't have to go to work or pay rent or make our own food. It'll be like this forever!

Mats Sundin is the highest scoring centre in the league and has led the team to their 4th consecutive playoff appearance. The supporting cast is stronger than ever with Darcy Tucker, Gary Roberts and Alexander Mogilny upfront, Tomas Kaberle & Bryan McCabe on the blue line, and Curtis Joseph manning the net.
After a hard fought 7-game series win against the New York Islanders in the first round, the Leafs are bruised, but ready to battle against the upstart Ottawa Senators, who feature young talent like Daniel Alfredsson, Marian Hossa and an oversized defensemen named Zdeno Chara.

After three years of a starting pitcher bromance in bloom, AJ Burnett left our beloved Toronto Blue Jays to sign with the Yankees. In 2009, he returned to Skydome in a head to head matchup against who else? Roy Halladay.
