I have what I think is going to be a really great matchup. I am pairing Uncle Nearest 1884 Tennessee Whiskey with a Drew Estate Herrera Esteli Brazilian Maduro.
I think you are not going to want to miss this pairing.
The name 1884 commemorates the last year that Nearest Green is believed to have put his own whiskey into barrels before retiring from distilling. Today it's aged and bottled by Uncle Nearest, and curated by Victoria Eady Butler, a descendant of Nearest Green and the brand's Master Blender.
There is a hitch though, Uncle Nearest contract distills in part of Tennessee Distillers Group facility but all whiskey is separately distilled, bottled, and aged by Uncle Nearest employees.

Today’s pairing is a BoneShaker Full Body cast with Redemptiom Rye Rum Cask Finish. The Bone Shaker is new to me and I am excited to try AND I was rummaging around my whiskey cabinet and tucked way in the back was a spirit I had forgotten I had. The BoneShaker is supposed to be spicy so I picked a rye which is typically spicier but here the rum cask you had some complex sweeter notes.

I have an exquisite combination today as I pair George Dickel Barrel Select whiskey with the CAO Flathead Steel Horse. Prepare to embark on a sensory journey like no other, where rich flavors and expert craftsmanship collide to create an unforgettable experience.

Nose: A little weak, but well rounded and sweet. Begins with caramel, vanilla, toffee and dried corn. The glass also offers some notes of taffy, cherries, butterscotch, a bit of oak and some citrus zest.
Palate: Caramel starts out but the corn cascades in close behind it. Mixed in with the waves of caramel and corn are notes of vanilla, oak, clove and rye. There is also some fennel spice milling with just a hint of mint.
Mouthfeel: creamy and delicate
Finish: Long yet not overbearing, crisp notes of caramel, vanilla and cinnamon rounded out with light hints of corn and oak.

Nose: Really nice oak spice, fruity especially stone fruits like plums and nectarines. Some menthol/eucalyptus sneaks in behind the fruit, with a mint in the retro. Smoky tobacco and a touch of proof.
Palate: Leather and sweet herbs, oak, caramel and the eucalyptus sneak up again. There’s plenty of barrel char but enough vanilla to keep it honest. Nice medium-body, slightly syrupy palate with a good proof heat.
Finish: Lots of mint on a long, coating sort of finish
Overall: Overall, the mint note is a pretty strong and starts to dominate, but the heat is pretty solid for a 94 proofer and the vanilla keeps the bourbon front-of-mind.

Michter's US-1 Small Batch Bourbon is a great spirit that is not only good but budget friendly. E.P. Carrillo should need no introduction and this stick scored a 96 at Cigar Aficionado and was their #1 cigar of 2018. You definitely want to hear this! What a great way to start Season 4, CHEERS!
