Phyllis Berry was a 21-year-old Chickasaw woman who disappeared during a trip to Terlingua, Texas, in November 1975. Phyllis, along with friends Vangie Strait and Terry Robert Bailey, visited the town for the annual chili cook-off and planned to camp. Phyllis was last seen by a campfire with friends and a hitchhiker named Jim. After a brief absence to gather wood, her friends returned to find her missing.
Despite extensive searches involving multiple law enforcement agencies, helicopters, and specially trained dogs, no trace of Phyllis was found. Her car, personal belongings, and dog were left behind. Various theories emerged, including possible foul play or an accident involving nearby mine shafts, but no concrete evidence was discovered. Phyllis's family and friends continued to search and keep her story alive, but the case remains unsolved.

On the morning of March 10th 1993, a motorist passed through the eastern side of Lake Andes, a town situated in South Dakota, near the Missouri River and close to the Nebraska border, when they witnessed a chilling sight; a woman’s body, floating in meltwater between Route 281 and a railroad. The motorist called the police, who diverged on the area and carried out their investigation. The following morning, beneath 4 feet of water and 15 feet away from where the female’s body was found, authorities discovered another body, which belonged to a male. Identifying the female was difficult as the body was badly decomposed, however a tattoo aided in their quest to name her. The man’s body was in better condition and authorities had no trouble in identifying him.
The pair were Ruby Bruguier and Arnold Archambeau, a couple from Lake Andes, who had been reported missing three months earlier.

By early 2019, Autumn Prince was 18 years old with her entire life ahead of her. She was described by her family and friends as a remarkable young woman who had a way of making everyone around her feel special. Known for her kindness and compassion, Autumn cherished spending time with her family and friends.
On February 16th, 2019, Autumn visited her mother, Gardina's house on Bannatyne Avenue. She ate and showered there before leaving to spend time with her friends, as she often did. The following evening, on February 17th, between 8 and 9 pm, Prince's boyfriend arrived at her mother's house in a distressed and intoxicated state. He was visibly injured and covered in blood. He recounted to Autumn's mother that they had both been attacked at a house party on Ross Avenue. However, he claimed to have no knowledge of Autumn's whereabouts after the incident, stating, "I don't know. She left."
Shortly after 9am on February 19th, 2019, with the purpose of hanging missing persons posters and visiting Rossbrook House—a refuge for young people—Autumn's mother, along with her 17-year-old sister and her boyfriend, made a tragic discovery. They found Autumn's lifeless body curled up in the foetal position amidst the snow, nestled between a chain-link fence and a house on Ross Avenue in Central Winnipeg. This location was just a few blocks from their family residence and not far from where a house party had taken place three days earlier. The unforgiving winter temperatures had plummeted to -25°C, and Autumn, a mere 18 years old, was found without a coat or shoes, clad only in a purple tank top and black tights. Her killer has never been found or brought to justice.

On the evening of January 23rd, 1999, 2-year-old Teekah Lewis enjoyed her time bowling with various family members at the New Frontier Lanes on Center Street in Tacoma, Washington. Given that it was a Saturday night, the alley bustled with activity, and the parking lot was nearly at capacity. The bowling alleys league night, a popular community event held every weekend, drew a considerable crowd.
Teekah and her family gathered at Lanes 7 and 8, situated near the centre of the bowling alley. While her family engaged in the games, Teekah freely roamed between the lanes and the arcade area. She indulged in various games, including a coin-operated claw machine, with the assistance of her uncle, who helped her win a Teddy bear, a gift she generously presented to her baby sister. Throughout the night, Teekah used quarters from her purse to enjoy multiple arcade games, savouring her favourite sweets, Starbursts, as she played.
Between 10 and 10:15 pm, Teekah was engrossed in playing a race car video game in the arcade section of the bowling alley, mere feet away from her family and the exit. In a momentary lapse, Teekah's mother turned away from her daughter for no more than 15 seconds to attend to one of her other children. Upon turning back, she was met with the startling realization that Teekah had seemingly vanished into thin air.

On April 22nd 2021, 3 year old Arden Pepion disappeared from the Blackfeet Reservation at approximately 7pm. According to witness testimonies, she was last seen in the surrounding areas of Joe Show East Road near the Two Medicine River off U.S. Highway 89 South in the company of her non-custodial uncle, who was babysitting her that evening. He was partaking in target practice down by the river, when he noticed that Arden had disappeared.
Whilst searching the vicinity for his niece alongside his girlfriend, her uncle saw small footprints leading towards the Two Medicine River, approximately 40 to 50 yards down the embankment. The pair spent several hours, reportedly between five and six hours, searching the area for Arden, but couldn't find her and subsequently reported her missing to Blackfeet Law Enforcement.

Buffalo Narrows is located in northern Saskatchewan, around 275 miles north of Saskatoon, Canada. 32-year-old Thomas Pederson and his wife, Bernadette, resided in the settlement with their children, Grace, Robert, Fred, Connie, Richard, Rhoda and Cynthia. The Pederson family were Metis Nation, meaning that they were of mixed European and Indigenous ancestry. In 1969, Buffalo Narrows was predominantly a community of Indigenous people of the Cree Nation and the population was approximately 700.
The 30th of January 1969 was bitterly cold, with heavy snow blanketing Buffalo Narrows. 48-year-old Jean Baptiste Herman, from the village of La Loche, stayed at the Pederson home as a guest and two of the Pederson’s daughters, Cynthia and Connie, were absent, staying over with their grandmother that night.
Sometime after 03:40am, Corporal Jack Fraser was awakened by Reverend Andrew Darsche who seemed shaken. A man had called him minutes earlier and confessed to having murdered those in the Pederson home with an axe.

20-year-old Kala Williams was described by her loved ones as someone who brought everyone together, enjoyed to laugh and had many friends. She resided in Spokane, Washington, and would frequently spend time with her friends, family or her boyfriend. Her mother, Martine Maggio, described her daughter as "Some people just glow, because of their personality, you know? Kala was one of them."
On April 2nd 2012, Kala was reported missing by her brother, who he hadn't seen for a few weeks by this time. Kala failed to show up at church in the latter weeks of March, something she did regularly, and she didn't visit any friends or family for a few weeks either which was very uncharacteristic of her.
Williams' family began to fear the worst when they didn't hear from the 20 year old, and nobody had reportedly seen her. Kala's brother checked in with some of his sisters acquaintances to ask them if they knew anything regarding her whereabouts, but unfortunately to no avail. She'd simply vanished.
Several weeks later on May 13th, Mothers Day, of 2012, Kala's body was discovered in a wooded area near Lindeke Street and 14th Avenue, approximately 7 miles from her home in southeast Spokane. Her family knew deep in their gut, upon hearing the news that a body had been found off of Highway 195 that it was Kala.
Though due to decomposition, she couldn't be identified visually, fingerprint analysis confirmed a few days later that the victim was indeed 20 year old Kala Williams. The condition in which her body was found was nothing short of horrific.
Those who have any information regarding the death of Kala Williams are urged to contact the Spokane Police Department on 509-625-4100.

Tina Fontaine was a young Indigenous girl from the Sagkeeng First Nation in Manitoba, Canada. Her body was discovered in the Red River in Winnipeg, wrapped in a duvet cover. Her death sparked widespread outrage and renewed calls for justice and action to address the systemic issues and violence faced by Indigenous women and girls across the country. The circumstances surrounding Tina's death highlighted the vulnerability and marginalization faced by Indigenous youth in Canada. She had experienced a difficult life, including the loss of her father and other significant family members, and had become involved with the child welfare system. Her death became a symbol of the larger issue of violence against Indigenous women and girls, leading to increased awareness, activism, and demands for justice. The case also prompted discussions about the need for systemic changes to address the root causes of violence and improve the safety and well-being of Indigenous communities in Canada.

19-year-old Faith Hedgepeth, a proud member of the Haliwa-Saponi tribe, was born and raised in North Carolina alongside her mother and three siblings - her parents having separated shortly after Faith's birth in 1992. At high school, Faith was a well-liked and intelligent student who studied hard to achieve her life-long goal of being the first member of her family to graduate university. She was an honor student and subsequently received the Gates Millennium scholarship, made specifically to help ethnic minorities in the US afford their studies. Faith then attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and hoped to become a teacher or paediatrician following graduation.
During her studies, Faith lived in an apartment with Karena 'Rosie' Rosario, her friend since freshman year, and Rosie's boyfriend, Eriq Takoy Jones. Rosie and Eriq's relationship was turbulent and plagued by domestic violence. After a time, Rosie decided to end the relationship following advice given to her by Faith, and the pair went to get a protective order. Eriq became threatened by the influence Faith had over his relationship with Rosie, but despite this, he tried numerous times to reconcile with Rosario - though not in legal ways, attempting to break into their apartment at least twice. Tensions were high between the girls and Jones, which led many to believe that he was responsible for the horrific events of September 6th and September 7th 2012.
That night, Faith attended an event set up by the Alpha Pi Omega sorority in the hopes to join the Native American sorority, but after some time, Faith and Rosie went to the university library to work on some papers before returning to their apartment to change and headed out to a local club. Rosie took unwell and the girls left in the early hours of September 7th, returning to the apartment complex around 3am. Between 3:40 and 4:25, a number of texts were send from Faith's phone and Rosie's, to Rosario's ex and a friend. The friend picked Rosie up from the apartment around 4:25, she herself believing Faith to be asleep, she left the door unlocked. Rosario stayed the night at her friends before trying to contact Faith to give her a lift home, but she didn't answer. Upon Rosie's arrival alongside another acquaintance at approximately 11am, they found Faith's lifeless body under a quilt on her bed, partially nude and covered in blood. They immediately contacted police. Many suspected Eriq of killing Faith following the pair being at constant loggerheads, but after analysing the DNA found at the scene, it did not belong to him.

32-year-old Olivia Keri Lone Bear, a member of the Ma-xo-xadi clan, loved the outdoors, playing sports such as volleyball and basketball, and was an energetic and warm individual. New Town, North Dakota was where Olivia felt at home, despite living much of her life as a free spirit, travelling and exploring new places. She was hard working, obtaining her high school diploma despite the challenges of pregnancy at the time, and later worked at the Four Bears Casino and Lodge so she could provide for her family. She was devoted to her beloved children, and the rest of her family. They knew something was awry when Olivia failed to return home following her departure from a local bar on October 24th 2017. Nor Olivia, or the pick up truck she departed in, could be traced.
Almost a year after Olivia vanished, volunteers out on Lake Sakakawea found the pick up truck that Olivia had been driving that night, 21 feet below the surface. After recovering the vehicle from the lake, authorities discovered Olivia's body strapped into the passenger seat, a detail which has baffled many investigators and amateur sleuths alike. If Olivia wasn't driving the vehicle when it ended up in the lake, who was? Ultimately, how Olivia met her demise is unknown; even the medical examiners couldn't definitively determine her cause of death. Lone Bear's remaining family and friends are still looking for answers, holding on to the hope that someday the truth will out.

Mildred Alexis Old Crow, known as Milly, of the Crow Tribe, was just six-years-old when relatives last saw her alive in July of 2018, though she wasn't reported missing from her home in Billings, Montana, until November 2020. A last reported sighting of the little girl was on the Crow Indian Reservation in April of 2019. Milly was outgoing and compassionate, and she loved to dance and sing, as well as participate in traditional Native American activities, such as Hand-game. After her father passed away, Mildred was put into the care of her aunt and her wife, in order to prevent her from entering the care system, but this would lead to tragedy when in February 2021, Milly's body would be found by a camper near Garryowen, located on the reservation itself. Her aunt, Roseen Lincoln Old Crow, and her wife, Veronica Tierza Dust, would later be arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child and custodial interference, but the pair were not charged in regards to Mildred's murder, causing outrage amongst the community. Justice still remains to be served.

On October 18th 2016, 34-year-old Freda Jane Knows His Gun of Crow Agency, Montana, called a friend from a Walmart in Kennewick, Washington, to ask for a money transfer which she was intending to use to travel back to her home having promised her three children that she would take them trick-or-treating for Halloween, but when her friend called her back fifteen minutes later to see if the money had reached her, Freda did not answer. The money was not collected, and Freda Knowshisgun was never seen or heard from again. It was known that she had fallen into a bad crowd and had started abusing drugs around this time, but despite this, Freda's children were her world, and for her to not keep her promise was deeply concerning. This case remains unsolved.

On August 19th 2017, 22-year-old Savanna Greywind, of the Spirit Lake Tribe, who was eight months pregnant with her first child at the time, decided to visit a neighbour who lived in an apartment upstairs for a dress fitting when something truly horrific happened. Her neighbour, Brooke Crews and her husband, William Hoehn, murdered Savanna in cold blood, ripping her unborn baby from her womb and deciding to keep the healthy baby girl as their own. Eight days later, Savanna's body would be found in the Red River, North Dakota, her body wrapped in plastic and duct tape, signs of strangulation present on her neck and her womb sliced open. Crews and Hoehn were quickly established as the last people to see Savanna alive, and fell under the direct veil of suspicion by police and Greywind's family. Despite various searches of their apartment turning up nothing of significance, an anonymous tip led to the discovery of Savanna's baby girl in Brooke and William's apartment, thankfully alive and well. Following Savanna's murder, Savanna's Act was passed in 2021 which will allow Native Americans and tribal communities better access to federal crime information as well as creating a standardised protocol for how the police and other investigative forces should handle missing and murdered Native American women and their cases in an effort to prevent this from happening again and to help crack down on the high number of missing indigenous women cases across the nation.

25-year-old mother-of-two, Brooklyn Moose, mysteriously vanished on her way home from a gathering in East Regina, Saskatchewan, on February 27th 2015. Seven months following her disappearance, Brooklyn's body was found in the attic of her rented apartment. Many raised questions as to how the RCMP missed her remains; was a search of Brooklyn's home conducted at all following her disappearance? Furthermore, the RCMP concluded that, due to bags of insulation sitting on top of the attic hatch, only Brooklyn could have been responsible for her own death, as they couldn't see how anyone from the outside could have placed the insulation onto the hatch; therefore, this case was deemed a suicide. Even more strangely, however, two months after her body was found, a fire ripped through the attic of the apartment, a blaze which was deemed to be deliberate. Was someone trying to remove evidence which could implicate them in Brooklyn's death? Was this a case of suicide, or was foul play involved?

In the early hours of New Years Day 2006, 16-year-old Brittany Bearspaw, of the Stoney-Nakoda Nation, was found lying dead on the Trans-Canada highway a mere ten minutes from her family home in Morley, near Calgary, Alberta. Brittany had been struck by a vehicle at least three times, though the driver who initially struck her has never come forward. The RCMP ruled Brittany's death as a suicide, however, her mother, Geraldine Bearspaw, who speaks to us in this episode, is determined to prove her daughter did not take her own life, and that she was victim to foul play. Geraldine refuses to give up until justice is served for her daughter.
WITH THANKS: Geraldine Bearspaw.
