  • The most common fears about global travel often stem from concerns about safety, health, and the unknown. Things like Health and Medical Emergencies, the fear of getting sick or injured abroad and not having access to proper medical care, or concerns about health crises like pandemics or outbreaks in certain regions.  In today’s episode, we talk to Jacob Perkins from Global Rescue about how their membership can help you have that peace of mind while traveling, both near and far.

We've applied for our Egypt Visa with Atlys and are awaiting its arrival when this podcast aired - We are are happy to report that we received our Visas for Egypt shortly thereafter. Since I had started the Visa application process on my own, Atlys contacted me through What's App (not uncommon for businesses outside the US) and let me know that they needed me to email them some information so they could complete the process.  We worked back and forth for a couple of days but they got it done by their deadline. Atlys works like this: you pay the country visa fee up front and they guarantee that they will have your visa by the deadline they set when you apply or they will do it for free.  If it's ready by their deadline they will inform you and you'll pay their fee, then you will be redirected to your Visas. Ours were completed by the deadline they had set (even with them needing additional information) and I paid the fee and we now have the visas.   We applied for our Kenya visa on our own and received it within a couple of days but it did take me about 1.5-2 hours to get the application completed and submitted. Once I had completed the Egypt one with Atlys, I was given a codes to apply for Visas in Uzbekistan, Kenya, and Vietnam for Free. I would have gladly paid the $40 extra to get the Kenya Visa done for us.

  • There is nothing better than being able to check off one of those bucket list experiences that you have been dreaming of for a really long time.  This year, Melissa and I will be taking an African Safari in Kenya to celebrate our 30th anniversary and a big birthday for myself.  We wanted to do something really special to celebrate those occasions so we decided to cross the safari off our bucket list.  We’ve done a lot of planning to prepare for this trip, but we thought for the podcast we might help you shortcut that planning and bring an expert onto the show.  In this episode we talk to Piper Mackay from Mackay Africa whom we will use for our safari.  So grab your olive green pants and khaki shirt as we head to Nairobi Kenya to start this safari.

  • People are always asking us how we can afford to take these epic bucket list vacations because they think it must cost a fortune.  The truth is Melissa hasn’t paid for a flight to Europe in years, if ever, in all of the trips we have taken.  The problem is that we’ve been boxed into using certain brands until our guest this week opened our eyes to a better solution that allows us to be more flexible in how we use reward points to travel.  This week we want to share with you some of the secrets to opening new opportunities that you may not know about.  We are excited for you to learn from Abby Hatteburg (@wayfarenco) this week on how you can travel for FREE or nearly FREE using her tips & strategies.

  • Even with just a few days to view some of the most famous sights, we share with you what we did on our weekend in Paris, making a great itinerary anytime you plan to visit. We also share what we would do with even more time in the City of Love, including our tips for making the most of your visit. So grab your passport and head to Paris, France.

**NOTE: Since September 2022, as part of the City of Paris energy saving plan, the Eiffel Tower lights are switched off at 11:45pm so the last sparkle is at 11pm along with the special golden lighting always reserved for the last sparkle. The EXCEPTION is during the SUMMER months, when the Eiffel Tower closes its doors at 12:45 am which means there are sparkles at midnight and a final set at 1 am. Though the Tower’s golden lighting and beacon are turned off, the monument continues to sparkle for a few minutes. Don’t miss out on this special and unique experience. The lights twinkle for 5 minutes on the hour every night after dusk and for 10 minutes during its final sparkle. Be sure to check the official website before your visit for times and also for tickets if you do plan to go up in the Eiffel Tower.
