  • Summary

A note from Kristin: After recording my first audio journal entry, I realized that it was much easier to go off the cuff and tap into my creativity when I wasn't on medication. It seems, in most instances, medication helps me focus and stay organized, but I’ve also observed that it may be a barrier when trying new creative things. So what’s the plan?

Right now, I'm planning to continue audio journaling daily as a practice and to see how the lack of medication affects my creativity. In this episode, I also share a story about advocating for myself, the emotions and internal reactions I observed during that experience, and how this situation gave me more insight about how I wanted to react without the aid of medication.

    Creative Challenge of the Week:

This week’s challenge – If you are currently utilizing medication to help manage your ADHD, find an extended period of time where you may not be medicated. This doesn’t include times when, for example, your medication wears off at the end of the day then you take it again the following day.

I encourage you to gauge and then track your energy levels, your cognitive levels, your physical levels, or any other area of your life and self you want to observe, when engaging in creative activity.

If you want to share your findings with me, please do! You can submit your findings and other creative works to me at the website!

  • Summary

Hey everyone, Kristin Marts here - and I'm DEclutterIZING! That’s my word for decluttering and organizing, and it's pretty freaking difficult. My current main area of focus has been my overload of art and creative supplies.

Are you the kind of person who loves being creative, but finds yourself with a ton of started projects and even more unfinished ones? I’ve been blaming my unfinished projects on my ADHD, but with my creative space in disarray, I’ve also realized how much this disharmony in my space keeps me out of the harmony I need to fully connect and engage in creative activity! Well, yeah, there’s that. AND - it’s also like I’m on a constant date with some guy named Justin Case
you know, just in case? If you’re also like me, you have a tough time keeping yourself from hoarding supplies, because, “you never know when you might need it! AMIRITE?!?!?” but apparently not! If I cannot remember I have it, cannot find it, or worse, find it broken at the bottom of a pile, why the hell am I letting the things live rent-free in my house taking up valuable creative and zen space?

I’m ready to start finishing - finishing all the fun incomplete projects I have been uncovering. I recently found a picture frame with six insets containing my early photography work from 18 years ago. I was glad to find it and realized that not hanging it for me to see was a disservice to myself. Today, listen to my process and what I discover to help me along towards my goal of newly found creative space by releasing all the “What If” and “One Day art supplies!

    Creative Challenge of the Week:

This week's creative challenge is for you to find any unfinished artistic or creative project and complete that art! This week, as of this recording, I'll be working on completing the final touches of the tea lights I made for my daughter so we can hang them in her room!

  • Summary

On today’s show, Kristin has a conversation with friend and fellow ADHD brain, Maria Brideveaux, about having a growth mindset when learning and exploring artistic and creative activities. They also touch on managing their inner critics, perceptions on feedback, and how shifting their mindset has helped them along their creative journeys.

Kristin also shares her first segment installment of the Creator’s Log, an audible journey where listeners get to eavesdrop on Kristin’s ‘pinball’ thinking about ADHD and creativity. The Creative Log today is from March of 2023 while she was in the depths of her own creative processes to launch her future (and now, LIVE!) podcast. And, if you’re a recovering perfectionist, this might be a helpful and hopeful listen for you, too!

  • SHOW SUMMARY

On today’s show, Kristin presents a special episode to rolemodel making a PIVOT from original plans!

A word from the host: Nope, you’re not losing it! You did not see my 2nd episode drop last Friday because it just didn’t, because among other things I explain in this episode, my ADHD won last week big time. So, thanks for your flexibility and letting my ADHD hang out!

In the meantime, I’ll be introducing a segment called Creator’s Log, an audible diary of my thoughts and expressed emotions around my ADHD tendencies and how it shows up–all with a touch of humor, humility, and hope. I’ll also share when a lesson or insight strikes, because one of my hopes is that sharing my lightbulb moments here with you will help bring some happiness and light to your ADHD journey, too! Because the more we know about ourselves, the more we can “break the bucking bronco!”
