This podcast has been a long time coming. I've always had a lot of respect for Edo. A good kid who is passionate and dedicated to hone his downwind foiling. He joined the Coach Casey Club in early 2023 to hone his paddle up and downwind foil technique, by the time I met him in person he was a force to be reckoned with.
In this podcast we go through Edo's background, starting in Italy and now in Hawaii, it is an interesting story. To then how he got into downwind foiling and the Hawaiian races in 2023 and 2024. We discuss what he changed training, equipment and mindset wise in a year to get to the top of the podium. We then open it up a bit and go brainstorm mode, discussing the M2O course change, downwind foil race formats and the future of the sport.
All in all I thoroughly enjoyed the chat with Edo and I hope you do too. If you want to learn to Downwind Foil or just want more Downwind Foiling content check out the Coach Casey Club at https://caseyaus.com/coach-casey-club/. Use the code 'TCCU25' for a 25% off discount as well.

In this podcast we go into how Fiona got into downwind foiling and the locations she learnt, debrief her weekend of racing in Hawaii and discuss training for these races. It was really nice to chat with Fiona and get her insights. I hope you enjoy it.

After a busy 2 weeks over in Hawaii with the majority of the downwind foiling world it'd be rude not to debrief on what was an exciting time over in Hawaii. Unfortunately Josh couldn't make it to the races so he was keen to pick my brain and we thought it'd be worth recording it as a Casey Catch Up episode.
Hope you enjoy and get an insight into how the sport of downwind foiling is growing at a rapid rate!
Also if you want to learn more about downwind foiling please head to the Coach Casey Club at www.caseyaus.com and find out the best way to learn one of the most epic sports going round at the moment.

I catch up with Xavi and discuss the upcoming event in Barcelona and get to know the downwind scene in Spain. Xavi tells us how he got into foiling and how the local scene has grown.
I'll be recording another podcast debriefing how the event goes. Fingers crossed they get good conditions but also it sounds like it won't matter too much, a race will be run.

Thursday Thoughts are my weekly update on what is going on in my world. Downwind foiling is always a focus so it is like a mini Casey Catch Up as a weekly edition. This week I give a quick rundown of the Molokai 2 Oahu Start List and why this will be the most competitive Foil Race to date.
I've done a bunch of previous episodes that are all on my Youtube but I'm going to start uploading the new ones to podcast format from now on. Watch this weeks episode on Youtube at https://youtu.be/OOP1gegVFyk

After a bit of a break The Casey Catch Up is back. Josh Ku, Zane Westwood and Oskar Johanson join me for a debrief on Australia's largest ever foil only downwind race. We go through the difficulties in getting it organised, the conditions, the course, the competition and the equipment we all use.
For me personally this was downwind foiling coming of age here in Australia. It gets me super excited for the future but also just for the present. Downwind Foiling is now a sport that hundreds of people are now participating in here in Australia, it would easily be thousands worldwide. How cool is that?
I do this podcast to grow the sport of downwind foiling and to see it really starting to flourish is epic. The other way I grow the sport is through my online coaching platform, the Coach Casey Club, where I have weekly coaching calls, where you can ask questions and upload videos, plus detailed course material going in depth for each step of the learning process.

Doni answered the last minute call to head to Rottnest and he and James manage to score some fun conditions. A little visit by an old friend 'seaweed', a quick bite to eat and they are back in Perth before lunchtime. A fun adventure and a great comparison of the 770R and 850S. SIt back and listen to the chat they have on the ferry ride home.

I asked Lukas to come on the podcast as he has a bit of a different story compared to others I have had on. He is from Germany and learnt to foil in a river using a bungee. He has since progressed to winging and now downwind foiling utilising big foils and the lakes in his local area. It was a pleasure to dive into his foiling journey and he even flipped the questions onto me at the end. Lukas is also a Coach Casey Club member and heading to the French Downwind Race in October which will be exciting to follow along from Australia before we get some DW races of our own under way with 20 Beaches in Sydney and the West Coast Down Winder in Perth. If you want more content or you want access to my weekly Coach Casey group coaching calls, like Lukas, head to www.caseyaus.com and sign up for the Coach Casey Club.

Molokai 2 Oahu has been run and done for 2023 so I managed to get the podium together to discuss the race. Some great insights from Oskar and Edo and all in all I was stoked to be able to go through the race from each of our perspectives. It's a long chat but it really gives you some insight into M2O and downwind month.Stoked to battle with fellow Aussie, Oskar, and know that the conditions we train in hold us in good stead for racing in Hawaii. Also a shout out to Edo who is actually a Coach Casey Club member, stoked with how well he did and I know he'll win this race one day.
