He is sharing his 60 years in journalism, from coverage of the trouble days of the October Crisis, covering the 1988 Olympic Games in our city and touching anecdotes on travelling to Bosnia and Croatia in the 1990s.

Joining us as our November speaker was LCol Jaime Phillips. LCol Phillips was 24 when she went to Afghanistan in 2007 where she became the first female Artillery Troop Commander in Kandahar as part of Task Force 1-07 of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). Labelling his speech "Act Like an Owner: A Citizen's Guide to the Struggle for Our Future," noted public speaker and author Ruben Nelson illustrated how we as Albertans have the ability to act as owners and shareholders of Alberta’s resource wealth. His valuable experience as a futurist through decades of research will surely offer a vast amount of insight into the question: “Where do we go from here?” regarding the future of Alberta.

In our first interview on this podcast we’re joining Richard Hehr to chat about the Calgary Board of Education, changes in how our schools are funded by the provincial government, the reforms happening through Bill 15 (the "Choice in Education Act"), how Calgarians are changing the names of their neighbourhood schools, and the return to the classroom during the Covid-19 pandemic. Richard is the trustee for Wards 8 and 9 at the Calgary Board of Education, which covers the downtown core of Calgary and the east end, and is an educator of 41 years -- 30 of which at the Calgary Public School District.

Joining the Canadian Club is the newly minted Governor of the Bank of Canada, Dr. Tiff Macklem. Together alongside Canadian Clubs across Canada we hosted this leading economist and banker on the subject of his new role as Governor, the work he is doing to build Canada, and what's next for our nation.
He talks about the interest rate, that the Bank of Canada sets, and the implications of COVID to Bank of Canada policies surrounding the economy.
