This week we’re thrilled to welcome former race car driver and current media personality Justin Bell to the podcast. Fair warning, this week’s episode features a lot of F1 and racing talk, with very little in the way about watches. Justin Bell is full of incredible stories after a life as a championship winning race car driver, including a class win at the 1998 24 hours of LeMans in the legendary Team ORECA Viper GTS-R. In this episode, we discuss the current F1 season, how things have gotten surprisingly competitive, and what to make of the blossoming rookie drivers leaving their mark on the season. We also chat about Justin’s racing career, including advice from his dad, racing at Le Mans, and more.

This week we welcome the founder of Studio Underd0g, Richard Benc to the podcast. Studio Underd0g is a relatively young brand which got its start just a few years ago, but has made a relatively large impact on the micro-brand space. The brand has been defined by their vibrant take on the hand wound chronograph, using colors inspired by fruits and other foods, as well as iconic sneakers. In this episode, we discuss the origins of the brands, those unique sources of inspiration, and of course, their latest collaboration with H. Moser. Richard is full of wonderful insights and has a very reasonable take on their decision to offer the collaboration watch as a pair.

This week we welcome Justin, aka The Wristorian to the podcast. Justin is an amateur sleuth helping tell the real world stories behind the known and unknown watches through history. The Wristorian Instagram account documents moments in history with archival photos and documentation placing certain watches on the wrists of often influential or important figures. This work brings a rich context to these watches (and their stories) that is often missing from popular culture, and serves to bring awareness to the underrepresented or unrecognized. In this discussion, we talk about the work that goes into his research, and how it has shifted his perspective on watch enthusiasm.
