You can EITHER be a good mom OR a good chiropractor. BUT, you can't be both.
How many of you, like me, have bought into that lie? Society feeds it to us, coaches often feed it to us (I actually had a coach early on in my career tell me I should leave practice!), and we often feed it to each other.
I have learned that when we shift our mindset from EITHER/OR to AND - as in, I can be a GREAT chiropractor AND a great mom - that's when the magic happens.
Today on the podcast, my guest Dr. Stephanie Spiers assures us that we CAN have both! And it starts with a belief that we can.
Dr. Stephanie talks about 2 specific things that helped her make that shift from either/or to and, and create the belief she needed to grow one of the busiest, most successful P&P practices in North America. You are going to LOVE her story and her passion!
big announcement!!At the beginning of the podcast, I make a HUGE announcement! Dr. Danielle Eaton and I are joining forces in our podcasts. So after this episode, the Fulfilled Podcast is jumping over to become a collaborative Aligned Women Podcast, hosted by Dr. Danielle and me...together!
Dr. Eaton has created a fantastic membership community with Aligned Women. The value she gives her members is absolutely outstanding. If you've never checked it out, please go to AlignedWomen.com/join and join us there!

Dr. Danielle Eaton and I began a paid mastermind experience for women chiropractors a year ago. And it's been an absolutely transformational experience not only for us but for the clients who have participated.
If you've never been part of a group of motivated, goal-oriented mama docs, it's hard to explain the magic that happens as we hop on our calls together. Focus, accountability and feeling like part of a community are the top 3 reasons women often WANT to mastermind with others.
But then they become part of a group of incredible women who are supporting each other and challenging each other to be better on every level. And EVERYTHING changes.
Accelerated growth and momentum in all areas of life is the best way to describe the changes we see in our mastermind clients.
In this week's episode of the Fulfilled Podcast, Danielle and I talk about masterminding, the value of a mastermind and why it can change your perspective on practice. We talk about some of the fantastic changes we've seen in our own clients over the last year and why that is.
We have a new mastermind group starting the week of April 9th. If you've been thinking of applying, hit the link HERE and join us!

I wish I had known women like Dr. Meaghan Brent (and women like you!!) when I started practice. Dr. Meaghan made such smart business decisions when she started her practice with a baby.
One of the things I hear over and over again from clients all over the world is the pressure of being mom AND having to pay the bills that practice creates. It breaks my heart when I see women leaving this amazing profession because their practice just breaks even (or doesn't!) and it's not financially worth the stress and strain of it.
I only knew 1 way to set up practice when I started in 2000. It was the way everyone - and by everyone, I mean men - did it back then. As I begin a brand new practice myself again, I am doing things TOTALLY differently than I did 18 years ago. I'm doing it in a way that makes expenses almost nil so that I can bring as much income home to my family as possible.
Dr. Meaghan shares some great experience and awesome tips to help you grow your family and your practice in a way that is as stress-free as possible.
Enjoy!

You are your brand. There's no way around it anymore.
We don't have a business page that's different from our personal page on social media...people see you and (like it or not) they see your brand as a practitioner as one in the same.
Because we are our own brand, we need to market ourselves with sound branding principles. If you're not sure what they are, you're going to love today's podcast.
Diane Diaz, The Brand Teacher, joins me today on the Fulfilled Podcast. Diane gives some simple branding rules to help us accelerate our success as P&P docs in our community. She gives us the "3 C's" of great branding: clarity, credibility and consistency.
How do those 3 C's work? Listen in for specific strategies to help you brand yourself as the greatest Pediatric & Pregnancy doctor in your community!

Have you ever thought about what you want for your patients 10 years from now? 20 years from now? Most of us would say we want them to still be patients in our office. If that's the case, have you actually thought about how you make that happen?
Start with the end in mind....and begin to think about how you can get people from where they are now to where you WANT them to be based on THEIR goals.
As practitioners, we tend to be great at big picture tasks. We often let the small details of that big picture fall through the cracks. It's rarely the "fun" work.
BUT, it's the work that really matters if you want to create lifetime patients. And it's absolutely critical if you want to build a P&P practice, because taking your kids to a chiropractor is way off the radar for most people.
In this episode, I describe 3 great strategies for taking your patients on a journey from where they are at when they first walk through the doors of your office to becoming a lifetime patient and huge advocate for the kind of care you provide.
Make sure you take a moment to comment in the Fulfilled Podcast Family, our private FB group, what works well for YOU as you take YOUR patients on the journey. If you're not a member of this amazing community of women docs, JOIN here.

It's a BIG topic, and probably the most divisive one we have in our profession.
Many of us want to to talk about vaccination but aren't sure what to say or how to say it. Or IF we should say anything, particularly if our regulatory bodies prohibit us.
In this episode, I point out some considerations around this topic. I also give some "best practices" for handling the issue of vaccination with your patients.

As natural health care practitioners, we have a history of being "weird" to the general public.
Although there's nothing wrong with having radically different approaches to health than what is considered mainstream, how we communicate our difference can be a huge problem.
How do you stay true to your values but at the same time find yourself acceptable to the average person who walks through the door of your office...BEFORE they've had a chance to hear your story and learn your perspective?
Well, don't be weird.
Let me explain...

Be honest. If your newly postpartum patient had a breastfeeding issue that simple latching help didn't seem to solve, would you know what to do?
What if the patient was YOU?
Today on the Fulfilled Podcast we talk to Dr. Liz Berg of Nourish Family Wellness. Like many of us, Dr. Liz had a problem she couldn't find the right help with when she had her first baby. Instead of throwing up her hands and hoping for the best in her next pregnancy, she got educated.
Dr. Liz is a certified lactation consultant and tongue tie expert. She has incorporated all of her skills into her P&P practice, offering services no one else in her community is offering.
Dr. Liz tells us her story and gives some awesome tips and ideas for helping breastfeeding moms and babies with tongue tie. She also offers online modules for professionals who want to learn more about incorporating these skills in practice.

We spend so much time thinking about our businesses, working our plans for our practices and building our "empires".
What we often don't do, is plan effectively for the impact birthing a baby will have on our practice.
"Baby proofing" your business is the specialty of this week's guest on the Fulfilled Podcast, Arianna Taboada. Arianna is a maternal health consultant who works with entrepreneurs who are becoming first-time mothers.
Arianna shares with us some tips that every mama-to-be in practice should know when planning to have a baby. We also talk about the best ways to build your personal and business support networks to ensure the smoothest transition for you, your patients...and your baby!

One of the best ways to grow a P&P (pediatric and pregnancy) practice in your area is to distinguish yourself from everybody else.
Do what no one else is doing.
Dr. Beth McVey has found a niche that very few of us - even women chiropractors - have on our radar.
She has a unique protocol for her patients who suffer from diastasis recti, a painful and VERY common separation of the rectus abdominus muscles.
Like me, Beth suffered from DR during her pregnancy and had no help or support for healing. For me personally, I never even thought to ask the question if there was something in particular I could do. I just waited it out and hoped for the best.
There are a LOT of women in the same boat.
In this episode of the Fulfilled Podcast, Beth walks us through the mechanism of injury, how she helps women heal, and how she has used this protocol to grow her P&P practice.
Enjoy the episode!

It used to be that our "presence" was communicated to people based on how we interacted in the grocery store, at the soccer field, in our mail outs and in our office.
Now our presence exists in multiple platforms from email to social media to video AS WELL AS our person to person interactions.
Never has it been more important to think about the energy we pour into our audience, our community and our world than it is right now.
What kind of content should we post on our personal page as opposed to our business page? How much should we share with people?
In this week's episode of the Fulfilled Podcast, I talk with Dr. Liz Anderson Peacock about visibility, presence and social media. Dr. Liz is a world-renowned expert in the field of pediatric chiropractic. She is also one of the most inspiring people I follow on social media.
Dr. Liz shares her insights on how to create the greatest impact on your audience.

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that contentment is one of the most important skills you can learn. Yes, I said LEARN. As practice owners, it is not usually something that comes naturally. But if you can develop the ability to be content, you will vastly increase your ability to be successful in all areas of life.
"Contentment is not the fulfillment of what we want, but the appreciation for what we have." Someone smart. And fulfilled :)
It's important to understand that contentment doesn't mean we're happy to stay right where we are in life. It's good to have goals, to push forward, to want more and to want to BE more.
Contentment is wanting all those things while at the same time understanding we're in a PROCESS. We are where we are because of the life we've lived and the lessons we've learned. And that in itself is perfect.
Contentment has been a real journey for me, as I'm sure it is for you. In this week’s episode of the Fulfilled podcast, I talk about some of my biggest AH-HA’s on my long pilgrimage toward contentment. I also share some tips on how you can develop the fine art of being content.

Take a walk into and around your office with your team and see it through the eyes of someone who's never been there before.
Would you be WOW'd?
When building and growing a P&P (pediatric and pregnancy) practice, the trust factor is critically important. People are trusting you with their most precious treasure - their little ones. One of the ways to increase that "know, like and TRUST" factor is by WOWing your prospective and current patients at every touch point.
Dr. Jill Plentl of Hope Chiropractic & Wellness Center is a master at creating the WOW factor in her office.
Jill is a member of our Fulfilled Mama Mastermind group. In our mastermind sessions, she often talks about the WOW factor as part of her ongoing projects. I was curious what this meant for her, so we had a conversation offline about this topic, which turned into a podcast interview.
What I loved about Jill's WOW factor is that it reflects such an element of caring and hope. When you listen to her speak in this episode, it's so clear that she wants to create a unique and inspiring experience for each and every person who walks through the doors of her practice.
Jill explains in detail all of the touch points she uses to create a WOW experience for people...from the first phone call to the incredible new patient gift bag she gives to her Wall of Hope.
Jill has the WOW factor mastered.
You will definitely want to take notes as you listen to this conversation. Mostly what I want you to hear in Jill is the caring heart behind her WOWability.
Let me know in the Fulfilled Podcast Family which WOW points you want to implement in YOUR practice!

One of the most practice-changing exercises you can do is called the Avatar exercise.
I don't like doing it...I'll be honest with you. But every time I do it, I am able to attract more and more of my ideal kind of patient.
Understanding your ideal patient - getting inside their mind and figuring out what makes them tick - is the key to communicating to their needs.
It's not as simple as writing down their vitals ie. age, gender, marital status, number of kids, where they shop, what they read, etc.
When done well, this exercise gets you to articulate their pain points and the things that keep them up at night. THESE are the things that will make them decide to see YOU and only you.
In this episode, I walk you through the most detailed avatar exercise I know of. It's the one Craig and I use to get inside the minds of our ideal patients.
Once you do it and do it well, you'll never have to guess what content or videos you need to create. Your ideal patient will be seeking you out, bringing their kids and referring their friends to the only doctor who actually GETS them!
Make sure you grab the FREE DOWNLOAD of the avatar exercise in the Resources section below.

If you had to narrow down success to 1 foundational key, what would it be?
Dr. Danielle Eaton asked me this last year during a podcast interview for the Aligned Women podcast (see notes below). I didn't have to pause for a second to answer.
What I told Dr. Danielle is the subject of this podcast. To me, it's the most logical beginning of this season of the Fulfilled podcast. You have to start with what matters most.
CERTAINTY.
Where are people uncertain?
