Have you ever wondered what it means to be sober curious?
Maybe you’re not ready to give up alcohol forever, but you’re starting to question if it’s truly adding value to your life.
If you want to drink less or are reevaluating your relationship with alcohol, you’re in good company.
More Americans than ever are exploring what it means to take a break from drinking.
In this episode, I sit down with Ruby Warrington, the woman who coined the term “sober curious” and the author of Sober Curious and The Sober Curious Reset. Friendships in sobriety can feel like uncharted territory.
When drinking has been at the heart of your social life, stepping away from alcohol may make you wonder: Can I still connect with my friends in sobriety? Will I lose people who matter to me? And how do I find new, sober-friendly friends?
If you’ve asked yourself these questions, you’re not alone—and the good news is that friendships in sobriety can be more meaningful, fulfilling, and aligned with who you truly are.
In this episode, I sit down with Anna Goldfarb to talk all about making and keeping friends in sobriety. Anna is the author of Modern Friendship: How to Nurture Our Most Valued Connections and a relationships writer with a gift for breaking down how to form deep, intentional connections.
Together, we’re exploring the joys and challenges of sober friendships, plus the practical steps you can take to build the kind of friendships that light you up.

If you've ever tried to stop drinking or take a longer break from alcohol, you know how tough it can be. Sobriety isn’t just about quitting alcohol—it’s about building the strength to navigate life’s challenges without numbing out. Stress, overwhelm, work, kids, relationships—it’s a lot. And that’s where resilience comes in.
Resilience is your ability to recover and grow from challenges with less emotional distress and more confidence in your capacity to thrive. It’s not something you’re born with—it’s a skill you can develop. In sobriety, resilience is your superpower for handling life without needing alcohol as a crutch.
In this episode, I’m talking to Lauren Fields, a life design strategist, cognitive behavioral therapist, and TEDx speaker, about how to cultivate resilience in sobriety. Lauren brings her expertise in positive psychology and shares practical tools, mindset shifts, and science-backed strategies to help you bounce back stronger when life feels overwhelming.

If you’re a high-achieving, busy mom juggling a demanding career, family, and all the other responsibilities life throws your way, you may feel like you’ve been holding it all together… but with a few drinks (or a bottle of wine) at the end of each day.
If you’re used to being “on” all the time, there are a lot of hidden pressures that make giving up alcohol as your number one coping tool and “quick fix” for stress and connection difficult along the way.
If you’re a high-achieving mom, managing recovery while maintaining family routines, careers, and social responsibilities can feel overwhelming.
But there are ways to create a healthy, balanced family lifestyle that supports your sobriety.
I asked Sarah Allen Benton, author of Parents in Recovery, to talk with me about what it really means to be a parent in recovery and how you can thrive in both roles without sacrificing your well-being.
Sarah breaks down strategies that high-functioning parents can use to navigate sobriety successfully and create a nurturing environment for themselves and their families.

Have you seen the “Rosé All Day” t-shirts? Or the ones that say “This Mom Runs On Coffee, Wine and Amazon Prime”?
How about the World Health Organization’s findings that “No level of alcohol consumption is safe for our health”.
In this episode, I’m diving into the marketing strategies the wine industry uses to appeal directly to women and how this targeted messaging is designed to encourage women to drink problematically and why the wine industry is freaking out that the World Health Organization (who they describe as the leader of the “anti-alcohol lobby”) is having success with its message that “there is no safe amount of alcohol to drink”.
Together with Ruby Williams—a former wine industry insider and certified alcohol freedom coach—we’re peeling back the curtain on the strategies that have helped normalize alcohol as an everyday coping tool for women.

Gray area drinking is a middle ground between casual social drinking and a diagnosable alcohol use disorder, often characterized by a quiet, internal struggle with moderation. Many high-achieving women find themselves here, questioning their relationship with alcohol, yet not experiencing drastic external consequences. This space can be confusing and isolating, as it doesn’t fit traditional narratives around drinking problems.
My guest, Jolene Park, is a functional nutritionist, TEDx speaker, and creator of the Gray Area Drinking Recovery Hub shares her journey and expertise. Together, we explore what it means to live in the gray zone of drinking and the questions that come with it

Managing anger is one of the most challenging, and often surprising, aspects of sobriety. If you're on the path to recovery or have recently stopped drinking, you might have noticed emotions like anger bubbling up more frequently or intensely than before. It's a normal part of the process, but it can feel overwhelming, especially when you’ve been using alcohol to numb those feelings for years.
I asked my good friend Gill Tietz, host of the Sober Powered Podcast, certified anger management specialist, crisis intervention specialist and professional recovery coach, to talk about anger—what it really is, why it shows up, and how you can manage it in a way that supports your sobriety rather than jeopardizes it.

If you’re trying to take a break from alcohol or quit drinking it helps a lot if you can get alcohol out of your house and stay away from drinking events for a while. And it would be great if our partners would support us, especially in early sobriety.
But if your husband is struggling with alcohol he might be unwilling to stop drinking around you, try to undermine your efforts or criticize you for not drinking.
He might miss his drinking buddy or worry how your decision to stop drinking will impact him.
Hopefully, you’re tapping into sober support and resources like this podcast, but if you’re worried about your husband’s drinking I asked Todd Kinney, author of I Didn't Believe It Either: One Dad's Discovery That Everything Is Better Without Alcohol to chat about what you can do if your husband is struggling with alcohol.

Being single in sobriety has a lot of advantages and some unique challenges.
On the one hand you don’t have a partner in your home who might not support your choice to be sober, may be drinking themselves or be unwilling to remove alcohol from your house. You’ll control your own environment and have more time for self-care.
But you’ll also be surrounded by a culture that promotes dating and socializing with alcohol. Being single in sobriety can stir up feelings of loneliness or isolation, fears of dating without a social lubricant and open evenings without accountability.
On top of that, if you're like many women you've felt the pressure to pair up which can be triggering.
We’re told from a young age that the ultimate goal is to find a romantic partner, and that success in life often equates to marriage.
This narrative can lead to feelings of inadequacy if you’re single for longer than society thinks is “acceptable.”
But what if we questioned that whole narrative?
What if being single didn’t mean something was missing, but instead opened up the possibility for deep fulfillment, joy, and independence?
I invited Meghan Keane, author of Party of One: Be Your Own Best Life Partner, to help us explore how to embrace being single and redefine happiness on your own terms.

In this episode I’m going to talk about how to break your habit of drinking in four simple steps - without relying on willpower or hating the process. -

Your first year of sobriety can be uncomfortable, tender, transformational, scary and exciting. As you move from Day 1 to 365 sober, you’ll have navigated a range of emotions, challenges, triumphs and changes in your life, simply because you decided to no longer drink alcohol.
In your first year of sobriety you’ll struggle with cravings, worry about how others will perceive you, wonder if you’ll feel bored or be boring, invest in self-care, make new friends, re-negotiate boundaries and relationships, feel healthier and more energized, discover new things you love, sleep like a baby, navigate challenges like business trips, vacations, couples dinners, stress, overwhelm, loss, fears and limiting beliefs.
You’ll also experience more joy, peace, pride, confidence, clarity, ease and happiness than you ever did when you were drinking. Your first sober year is a wild ride, and when you hit that one year milestone you might not even recognize the person you were and the emotions you felt when you were just trying to get one week alcohol-free under your belt.
That was true for Emily, a high-achieving working woman who decided to take a break from drinking one year ago and has never looked back. Despite being mostly a weekend drinker without outward consequences or anyone telling her she had a problem with alcohol, Emily knew it was dragging her down, keeping her stuck and preventing her from living her best life.

Did you know that seventy-five percent of people with substance use disorder who have sustained support recover?
It’s true. And the statistic is important because alcohol is an addictive substance and substance use is the rule, not the exception, in America.
If you’re struggling with moderating your drinking, worrying about how much you drink or are struggling with achieving sobriety, you are not alone. And it’s important to know that recovery is not only possible, but likely.
Individuals who engage in long-term, consistent care have a 75% chance of achieving sustained recovery from addiction.
I asked Dr. Nzinga Harrison, a double-board certified physician in addiction medicine and psychiatry and the author of the book, Un-Addiction: 6 Mind-Changing Conversations That Could Save a Life, to share why addiction is often misunderstood as a moral failing rather than a medical condition. Through our conversation you’ll have a new understanding of what addiction is, why addiction happens and how we can recover from addiction to alcohol or other substances.

Have you ever felt like something was missing from your childhood, even if everything seemed fine on the surface? You’re not alone. Many of us carry wounds from our early years, often rooted in what’s called "mother hunger"—the deep, often unfulfilled need for nurturing, protection, and guidance from our mothers. When those needs aren’t met, it can leave us feeling incomplete, even as adults.
I asked Cybele Botran, a Professional Certified Coach, and a Mother Hunger® Trained Facilitator to walk us through the need for protection, nurturance and guidance we all have in childhood and the primary attachment wound that is created when those needs aren't met.
She also shares how to take care of our own emotional needs, as adults, in the way a loving parent would, without placing blame on primary caregivers and practical ways to do reparenting and inner child work in the healing process.

What do you want to know about sober travel? I just got back from Provence, where I spent two weeks with 3 sober girlfriends and we’re here to share everything you need to know to plan and enjoy an awesome sober vacation.
Provence is a beautiful area of France known for its small hilltop villages, river valleys, markets, food, lavender and wine. All the wine. They’ve made wine for 2,600 years and have over 600 producers in the region.
But don’t let that scare you off! Even in an area famous for alcohol, you can travel alcohol-free and enjoy your trip so much more than you would if you were drinking.
On this sober vacation I traveled with 3 girlfriends I met in sobriety. My friend Ingrid and I are both 8 years alcohol-free, Margaret is 7 years alcohol-free and Megan is 5 years sober.
The 4 of us all met in sobriety, through various groups and podcasts and retreats and friends and decided to explore a region typically known for wine, alcohol-free and had the most fantastic time together.

How do you get and stay sober when you have a partner or family member who drinks problematically?
While quitting drinking can be difficult for everyone, it can be especially difficult if you don’t have the support of your spouse, partner or the closest people in your life.
And if someone in your family has a drinking problem that they’re not willing to address or admit to, it can make your home, emotional and social environment a minefield of triggers to navigate.
I asked Erinn O’Neill, a health and wellness coach and co-host of the 2 Sober Girls Podcast, to share her experience with Al-Anon and how it can support women if they’re dealing with a partner, family member or friend who is struggling with alcohol.
Erinn stopped drinking 5 years ago by going to a 30-Day inpatient rehab program and attending 12-Step Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. She also attends Al-Anon.
In our conversation Erinn also shares her own experience with going to a 30-Day rehab program and what you might want to consider when evaluating and selecting a rehab if that’s right for you.
