What if I told you that a seemingly hopeless journey of addiction could transform into an inspiring story of recovery, redemption, and newfound hope? In this powerful episode, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Jack Raymond, one of my favorite writers, as he opens up about his raw and unfiltered experiences with addiction, the passing of his father, and the importance of finding a higher power in his path to recovery.
Our conversation explores Jack's early encounters with addiction and the pivotal moments that led him to realize the need for change. We dive into the transformative power of attitude and how a shift in perspective can ultimately save your life. Jack shares his journey of self-discovery, the impact of his father's passing, and his latest book, The Kindred Project, which features stories of survival, addiction, and redemption, including a poem about my own journey.
Don't miss this incredible and inspiring conversation with Jay Raymond, whose words have touched the lives of millions. Together, we discuss the strength, resilience, and hope that can be found in even the darkest moments of our lives. Join us as we celebrate the power of believing in something bigger than ourselves, and how it's never too late to find your passion and purpose.

In this episode, I introduce you to one of my "pivot people." I define a pivot person as someone who is undoubtedly there for you, no matter which way life pivots. John Casuccio is one of these people for me. John was my general manager when I worked for a corporate relocation company and he was my manager when I had to quit working because of my heart issues.
A professional relationship that grew into a father / daughter relationship - filled with laughter, love and respect. I'm so happy to share this conversation with you!

I define a "pivot person" as someone who is unquestionably there for you, no matter which way life takes you or causes you to pivot. That person that is always on your side, even if everyone else has abandoned you. That person who teaches you what love can feel like when it's done the right way.
This week, I introduce you to one of my personal pivot people - Angie McKinley. Angie and I catch up in real time during this conversation and and we invite you to listen in!
Here are some of the topics discussed:
- How / where did Angie and I become friends?
- The awful thing that her ex-husband did
- Being the mom to LGBTQ kids
- Keeping our faith when life is shitty
- What's the secret living your absolute most best and full life

We're back with new episodes after a month-long break! I've done a lot of learning in how to interview guests for the podcast and this is my first attempt at an interview style episode!
I sit down with Lisa Jimenez, the founder of the She Is Me movement. She is in the midst of planning the 2022 She Is Me annual conference taking place October 12 - 16, 2022 - but took the time to sit down and have a conversation with me about what took place in her life that brought her to bring alive the movement, She Is Me.
Lisa shares her story of survival. Her story of how she escaped an abusive childhood AND an abusive marriage. Her story of how she now shines a light for other women who feel as though they are walking in the dark...alone - Lisa reminds us that we do not walk alone and that there is always hope to grasp onto.

In 2015 I was admitted to the hospital with congestive heart failure. I was 32 years old. Because of these medical issues, I had to walk away from my career at the time, sell my house and move back to my hometown, and reevaluate my entire life.

Leah shares her story of sexual assault through a speech she wrote in 2019 when she was asked to be the keynote speaker at the Centers Against Violence (formerly Women’s Aid in Crisis) 40th Anniversary Celebration in West Virginia. Leah is a 2x rape survivor. She received services from Women’s Aid in Crisis after her assaults and remains close to the advocate her walked with her as she healed from her trauma. This speech was presented to advocates who work in the field for Centers Against Violence, and victims / survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. Throughout the speech and throughout the episode, Leah shares details of her assaults - she also addresses the advocates and survivors in her speech directly.

WHAT ARE WE TALKING ABOUT THIS WEEK?
This week, Leah talks about conversations. Are we losing the art of how to have them? Are we teaching our kids how to have them? Do we, as adults, know how to have them? Leah talks about her 2 cousins and the impact that they had on how she now has conversations with her son. Is there such a thing as too much conversation with our kids? Are there any topics that are off limits in the conversations you have with your kiddos? Leah discusses how she approaches conversations and her mindset as she engages in talking with her son.
Leah shares 2 Facebook posts that she wrote when Isaac was younger. One post was written in 2017 after the Las Vegas shooting and the other post was written in 2016, after a conversation that Leah and Isaac had at bedtime.
WHAT QUESTIONS WILL BE ANSWERED IN THIS EPISODE?
What major challenge did Leah have when recording the episode this week?Leah has a huge lightbulb moment when her cousin, Laura, was born. What was it?What number is Leah on the Enneagram? What is the best way, the best mindset, for us to enter into conversation with one another (including our kids)?New episodes of The Leah Ideology Podcast drop every other Wednesday!

WHAT ARE WE TALKING ABOUT THIS WEEK?
Leah talks about how hard it is to be an adult and ways she can tell she’s no longer a kid. She talks about how overwhelming it can be to be responsible for raising a kid in today’s day and age and she explores what she hopes to teach her son about the world around us. Leah shares a Facebook post that she wrote in September 2015 when she and her son, Isaac (age 2 at the time), went to the playground for the evening, and it didn’t go as planned. At end the episode, Leah offers a reminder to parents for when things get stressful.
WHAT QUESTIONS WILL BE ANSWERED IN THIS EPISODE?
There are 4 things that Leah talks about where can tell she’s actually an adult - do you agree with these her? Do you do these things and, if you do, do you feel like more of an adult because you do? How does Laurie describe the Funny Farm?If Leah was a Texas Hold’em hand indicating her level of motherhood instincts, what numbers would she be? At the end of the episode, Leah mentions there are 4 takeaways from this episode - which is your favorite?New episodes of The Leah Ideology Podcast drop every other Wednesday!

When people ask me what it’s like to be a mom, people expect me to smile and talk nonstop about my child. I do that sometimes, but that’s not always how I feel inside.
Somewhere in the back of my head, I remember the anxiety, the frustrations, and all the ugly little details that come with being a mom that no one ever talks about.
In this episode, I’m reading a letter I wrote for all the moms out there who are feeling lost, confused, and pressured about the landslide of responsibilities that comes along with being a mother, just to remind you that I feel the same way and that I am rooting for you!
Questions that are answered in this episode?
How motherhood made me reacquainted with my love of writing. Why it’s okay to feel anxious about being a parent. How being a mother is just another role you play. Why none of us actually know what we’re doing. How the beauty of motherhood hides in all the ugly details.New episodes of The Leah Ideology Podcast drop every other Wednesday!

Are you someone like me—who longs to express herself and still keep that sense of anonymity because of the fear of being judged?
Well, that was before I realized that I just wasn’t in the right community. Because when I expressed myself to the right people, I felt safe and found that my efforts were reciprocated.
This episode is for you, my dear listeners. I wrote a letter to let you know that in this community, I acknowledge you for who you are and believe in you.
Questions that are answered in this episode?
How you became the reason why I started a podcast. Why I hated catchphrases. The challenge of putting yourself out there. How I found the community for me.Why I’m rooting for you.New episodes of The Leah Ideology Podcast drop every other Wednesday!
