  • In this episode of The Mental Health & Wellness Show, we dive deep into the critical topic of boundaries—how to set them, enforce them, and maintain them in all areas of life. I’m joined by the insightful "The Queen of Boundaries" Dana Skaggs, a psychotherapist and boundary coach, who shares practical advice on navigating relationships with individuals who may exhibit narcissistic tendencies or display toxic behaviors.

We explore the significance of clearly communicating your boundaries and the importance of ensuring that your actions match your words. Many of us have experienced situations where we repeatedly express our limits, yet nothing changes. Dana stresses that true transformation comes when we are prepared to enforce our boundaries consistently, even when it’s uncomfortable.

What happens when you’re dealing with someone who refuses to respect your boundaries? We discuss the concept of a “final boundary,” where you must be ready to remove yourself from a relationship if no changes are made. It’s a hard truth, but sometimes the healthiest choice is to walk away.

We also touch on how these lessons apply to everyday life—from our relationships with family members to our professional interactions. Ultimately, setting boundaries is about taking ownership of your feelings and actions, and recognizing what you do and don’t have control over.

Dana offers valuable resources for those looking to improve their boundary-setting skills, including courses and self-study programs. If you’re ready to take control of your life and stop allowing others to dictate your happiness, this episode is for you. Listen in, take notes, and start setting boundaries that honor your well-being!

    Key Takeaways:

Clearly defined boundaries are crucial for maintaining healthy relationships and protecting your emotional well-being.Sometimes, the only solution is to establish a final boundary and distance yourself from toxic individuals to protect your mental health.Consider using resources such as boundary-setting courses or coaching to enhance your skills and confidence in maintaining healthy relationships.
