As ever, in this podcast, we set about discussing the latest developments in the tech world, first focusing on the upcoming launch of Samsung's S25 Edge.
Then we chat about the ongoing legal troubles faced by Apple. We look at the implications of Apple's anti-competitive practices and how these could affect the company's business model moving forward. Are the best days behind Apple, and what will now become of the App Store? The world of tech landscape is changing before our eyes, and we talk over the accountability of the big tech players, the dangers of monopolies and how they need to be policed, and the future of smart home technology.
Daniel visited an event last week showcasing the future of the Smart Home and how Samsung sees it playing out.
Then we touched on the challenges of content creation in the quieter times and how it actually allows you to expand your content portfolio.

Alex is sunning himself in Brazil, so it’s just David and Daniel who start by delving into the world of tech, focusing on the performance issues of One UI 7 and where it all went wrong for Samsung over the past few months. Have the latest updates helped? Daniel explains…
We chatted about the latest rumours about iPadOS and iOS, what new features they may bring, and how they might look. The discussion then shifts to YouTube, reflecting on its growth as a content platform and how we started to watch content and what made us think we might want to try it ourselves.
We shared anecdotes about our early experiences with YouTube and how it influenced our content creation journeys, especially during COVID. Also, who are the creators we look up to? Who inspires us, and what is this current theme of 'dunking' on other channels all about?
Authenticity was touched on, and we talked in detail about how important we find that in the content we both make and watch. There are some rumoured new changes coming to how YouTube may display videos on your homepage feed that could have major implications - we talk over whether we think they are good for creators or not.
Then we chatted about cameras as David has just bought a new lens for his Canon, and what lenses Daniel may be looking to upgrade to next. Finally, we spoke about the importance of having a dedicated studio space and the freedom and creativity that brings...

We chat about how these factors influence our work as tech creators and jump into the nuances of video production, focusing on the importance of selecting the right camera gear, particularly lenses, and the impact of audio and lighting on video quality. We discuss the significance that scripting and presentation techniques have on making effective content.
We also touch on the implications that tariffs will have on tech products and how companies might adjust pricing strategies in response to these economic factors. Definitely one of our best - this is what podcasting should be about!
We started off by thinking that there may not be much to chat over - but how wrong we were! We got the ball rolling by chatting over the expansive choices there are now available in the Android market and the giant strides they’re making in catching up the brand leaders.
That gave way to what was supposed to be a chat about WWDC which was announced this week, however, that rapidly gave way to a pretty heated chat about about AI and what we all think it’s future will be. It’s clear Apple is a little lost right now, and it seems our overarching view was that Apple needs to find back their passion.
After we all calmed down a little, we then spoke about our various studio spaces and Daniel’s move that will mean soon he will have his first dedicated studio space - exciting times ahead, for sure!
Honestly, this episode is one we know you’ll enjoy!

The DAD's are back, all three of them are together, even after a dicey cyclone in Australia that threatened to keep Daniel away, it cleared just in time for the boys to record.
Alex kicks off the chats this week with a close look and discussion at the Oppo Find N5, which then brought about a broader discussion about the state of the foldable market and whether Apple will ever dip their toes in the water with one of their own.
David then brings up the state of Apple marketing and how they don't seem to have any cohesion, especially in the light of the Apple Intelligence delay and how they promoted that VERY heavily during the iPhone 16 launch.
Chat then turns to YouTube and how changes with ad placement have caused a stir in the creator community recently. Daniel found a tweet that breaks it down and the boys discuss what it might mean.
YouTube also seemed to test a new shorts feed that had the boys confused.
Bots are watching videos, brands are paying for them and Newcastle will beat Liverpool on Sunday at Wembley, all that and more on this week’s Minus Sixteen!

This week, the boys were joined by YouTuber Andrew Clare. Andrew is an Apple-focused YouTube channel from the states, and he joins us to talk about his experience, but also the latest iPhone 16e.
The chat starts with the aforementioned iPhone 16e and David does our first live pod unboxing. The product’s value is brought into question as well as the positive coverage of the phone as opposed to a real critique.
The chat then moves onto Galaxy S25 and Andrew shares his experience as a lifelong Apple user and how Samsung has changed since his last experience with the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
YouTube chat begins with talk about a recent video by a YouTube employee on their personal channel critiquing the current state of tech reviews.
Alex rallies the group to, instead of criticising the space, offering advice from the boy’s experiences that can help someone looking for inspiration.
Alex has an SD card nightmare, MKBHD's reviews are questioned and much more on this week's Minus Sixteen!

The boys are back together on their own this week. The conversation flowed seamlessly between product, business and upcoming events.
Starting with Galaxy S25 chat, Alex gave his view on the S25+ and the value it offers, and the boys discussed base model devices and how they are an excellent value choice for those who just want a dependable smartphone without the bells and whistles.
David was keen to discuss Daniel's video about the S25 Ultra and what would be the reaction if it were made by Apple instead. It's an interesting conversation because the narrative around the S25 Ultra hasn't been positive, especially by some of the bigger creators like MKBHD and publications like The Verge.
Business chat quickly took over, Alex talked about dealing with a sponsorship manager, and being organised and planned with content, David has updated his workflow to include a project management system to get on top of his sponsorship commitments, and Daniel spoke about how he intends to stay as a solo creator for now.

Well wasn't this a challenge? Our second show of the year proved a difficult upload but we got there 😅 the things we do!

To kick things off they recapped the drama of the S Pen and saga from early in the week after Kyle and Alex both shared their thoughts of their time with the S25 Ultra.
Post that, the chat shifted to their first YouTube discussions of the year as they explored Kyle's audio treatment, how he started his YouTube journey and what made him go full-time at 7 thousand subs!

The boys are joined by Patrick Rambles this week and kick off their chat to see if Daniel is any closer to switching to a Mac. Patrick, Alex & David all over Mac Mini insights to try and help the decision as they also compare the base model Mac Mini's to fully specced machines.
Alex updated us on how the No Android November challenge went and talked through the pain of switching ecosystems constantly, and diverted the chat to how he wants to use this as a showcase for future sponsor integrations.
Patrick also revealed his strategy of moving away from dedicated videos and trying and focus on core content for his channel as the focus of the pod switched to its usual look at YouTube and the business side of creating.
The chat couldn't be rounded up without a mention of the One UI 7 Beta at the end by Daniel, as he didn't want the pod to end without at least a chat about Samsung's latest software.

The boys lost Alex this week as his Jaguar got scared after the rebrand and needed repairs.
David & Daniel started by discussing the positive side of tech YouTube and how they both intend to continue to be excited by tech rather than tired of it. This led to an early look into a fascinating new product from Samsung, the Galaxy Z Fold SE. Along with the new design, it sparked a conversation about product launches and Samsung's haphazard release schedule.
David then spoke about his massive Mac Mini video and what it taught him about creation and also the products he was testing, which then turned into a long, deep-dive discussion into the future of Daniel's editing set-up.
He is currently in a mind melt about switching from his beloved, but flawed, Galaxy Book 4 Ultra to a Mac Mini or M1 Max Macbook Pro. He takes us on a long, twisted journey about what he is grappling with and David tries to help him navigate through. But he needs your help, so when you've listened, comment below!
The boys then discuss the hot YouTube news of the last 2 weeks, MKBHD. Rather than just straight up cancelling him, David & Daniel offer a balanced, fair analysis of the whole situation and try and offer perspective in the whole scenario.

This week started with a bit of chaos as it looked like Daniel's tech troubles would strike again.
Alex & David started without him and got straight into NEW Mac Mini chat.
The boys spoke about the new devices as well as the configurations they had purchased for themselves.
Daniel EVENTUALLY fixed his tech issues and joined as we got into Alex's No Android November challenge which prompted a great insight into daily drivers and what tech we rely on each day to support not only our businesses but also our lives.
We then diverted to YouTube and spoke about celebrating successful weeks on the platform with everyone hitting a 1/10 video, before discussing how we respond to comments and engage with our audience in unique ways.
We finished up with some new tech to look at, Daniel & Alex waxed lyrical over some DJI cameras before rounding off the episode. All that and more on this week’s episode of Minus Sixteen!

Off the back of a hugely successful pod last time out, the boys are back with yet another YouTube success, Brad Colbow.
Brad is a YouTuber who caters to creative professionals and drills down on the products and resources available for artists and creatives.
We talk about Brad’s journey as well as ask him about his niche and how he settled on it. We talk about how he deals with brands but also how he's trying to move away from brand deals and more towards course offerings and self-sustainability.
Since the last pod, the pay-to-play YouTubers are back in force and we analyse the promote tool and the impact it is having on the wider industry.

This week the lads have a special guest. Rising YouTube star Samuel Nam jumps on the pod to talk about his YouTube journey and his greater purpose for making content on the platform beyond just reviewing tech. He shares insights into his process, gear and overcoming his anxiety about posting his first video.
The boys then get into quite a long discussion about working with sponsors and how the current landscape of sponsorships is getting harder due to bigger creators buying views and inflating numbers.
YouTube also has released a new product, the boys discuss 3-minute shorts and the impact they could have on a channel.

In a short and sharp chat this week, the boys begin their chat with some insights into how they got their iPhones on launch day and David recounts the hustle and bustle it took to get him his devices in time for videos.
David & Alex both give their accounts of using the iPhone in the first week and talk about how the camera control button is positioned wrong and lacks enough functionality right now.
The chat then turns to the newest Samsung devices and naturally, Daniel offers his guidance on what Samsung should've done instead.
After the product chat was done, Daniel talked about the origins of his beef with Quinn from Snazzy Labs and why creators should support each other instead of spreading hate and derision.
Finally, in a stacked chat, they finish with insights and thoughts on the controversy surrounding MKBHD and the Panels app that was launched last week.
It may have been shorter, but it is not short on topics, so grab your best snack and enjoy the latest episode of Minus Sixteen!

David & Alex discuss what they ordered off the back of the event and the content they are planning.
When discussing YouTube, the lads discuss the thumbnail A/B testing again and revisit the hot issues of "buying views".
Finally, Alex discusses his recent travels to IFA in Berlin and how it had positive effects on networking in the creator Space.

In this episode of the Minus Sixteen podcast, we take a look into the tech world's latest controversies and discussions, namely how Google and their PR agency have got into a bit of a pickle. We kick things off with the newly released Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold, a device that has sparked mixed reactions among tech enthusiasts. Some say it looks odd and even ugly, prompting us to explore what might have gone wrong in its design. We also discuss how aesthetics play a significant role in consumer choice, and whether Google has missed the mark with this one.
✨We are genuinely curious though, do you prefer the wider screen of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold or prefer the design Samsung implemented in their Galaxy Z Fold 6? Let us know in the comments! 👇🏼
Next, we tackle a more serious issue in the tech review community—potential biases among tech reviewers. We explore recent reports suggesting that Google has allegedly instructed content creators not to show favouritism towards other brands, with the threat of ending partnerships if they do. This has been confirmed by various creators on "TeamPixel" and the wording used is really quite strong, and borderline unethical.
This raises important questions about the transparency and integrity of tech reviews, as well as the trustworthiness of some large YouTube channels. Are these influencers being genuine, or is their content overly positive due to brand pressure?
Our conversation also touches on the Samsung Galaxy Watch, a device that has been praised for its features but criticized (mainly by Alex 😅) for its battery life. We discuss how this product might still be suitable for certain consumers despite its shortcomings, and whether the battery issues are a dealbreaker for most users. We weigh the pros and cons to help our audience make informed decisions.
😬 Finally, we delve into the serious allegations against YouTube sensation Mr. Beast. While the motivations behind these accusations remain unclear, we express our concern about how this situation could impact YouTube as a platform, especially in terms of sponsorships and brand relationships. With the potential fallout from this controversy, we ponder the future of content creation on YouTube and the possible ripple effects on other creators.
