  • In today’s meditation we will uncover the depth of silence. We are so caught up in our hectic modern day life, that we often forget to take a break. Breaks in which we spend time with only ourselves - no outside distractions. Through meditation and mindfulness, we start to become aware. Aware of our unhealthy robotic habits and thoughts, aware of the social surroundings we have accumulated around us, aware of our true desires, aware of our destructive thought patterns, aware of who we are and who we want to be in this world. Sitting in silence is a big step to achieve this and many other things.

  • In today's meditation we will be taking a trip to a magical place, filling up our chakras with energy and bringing balance into our being. Our mind is an immensely powerful thing. For example: Did you know that when you are guided through an experience by activating all of your senses and describing every little detail of it, your mind could make this imaginary scenario seem even more real than your actual last holiday? Why not use this technique to our advantage? Everything you need to heal, to grow and to be the happiest and healthiest version of yourself, is already within you.

  • In todays meditation you will be using your breath to increase your creativity, your intuition and your connection to your inner self. In the world we currently live in, our nervous system is overstimulated by external impulses, through social media, advertisement and our constant availability via email, whatsapp, facetime etc.. We have been trained to focus more on external objects that we can see and touch or on scientific so called evidence, instead of listening to our gut feeling or the sensations within our nervous system.

    The following breathing technique will liberate the lower three chakras and push the energy that we keep channelling into our lower three chakras, into out upper chakras. Our upper chakras help us to feel more connected with our love of self, open communication of our desires, our inner guidance, our intuition and our connection with the world beyond our physical being. Using this breathing technique on a daily basis will bring more balance into your energy layer, which in turn will positively impact your emotional, mental and physical state of being and even improve the quality of your meditation.

    Practice this meditation on an empty stomach, preferably before breakfast or 3-4 hours after a meal. The perfect time for me to do this breathing exercise if just before my meditation practice because it leaves me feeling void of thoughts.

  • Today we will be talking a little bit about Mindfulness, which is an important pillar in your meditation practice. Think about it: Let's say you meditate for 15 minutes a day. How long can your meditation practice really support you during 24 hours? Using mindfulness throughout your day will help you prolong the effects of your daily meditation practice.

    For this meditation you will need a fresh fruit or a vegetable. Maybe a raisin, a carrot, a bell-pepper or an apple? Something you enjoy eating, something you have at hand right now, something you can simply bite into without peeling it and most importantly, something you are not allergic to. Pause me for a moment to go and get it.

    Today, there will not be any music accompanying this meditation, so you can place all of your focus onto your chosen fruit or vegetable (creatively names "fruitable" in this meditation)

  • Today we come to the last part of the "Decoding you emotions" sequence. The emotion we will be working on is "Anger", which is probably the most complex one of all. Why? Well, imagine an Iceberg. Around 10% are visible, while approximately 90% of it are hidden below the water surface. The phenomenon with anger is very similar. We might express our emotions through anger, because it leaves us feeling less vulnerable than revealing the emotions we burry beneath it, but most of the time, anger is only a mask we choose to wear. That, however, is not a healthy way to express yourself and leads to many misunderstandings that could be resolved if you would open up about what really is going on inside of you.

  • Todays meditation is about how to listen to the language of your body. Every time we feel an emotion, our body speaks to us through chemical reactions and sensations in our nervous system. If we listen carefully, we are able to understand its language. We as humans have several different terms for our emotions: Confused, excited, weak, humiliated, awful, hurt, playful, powerful, stressed and so many more! If we listen closely, we will be able to understand, that below all our emotions, only 6 of these are "pure" emotions. These pure emotions are basic emotions, that can not be deconstructed. The emotions that I refer to are: Fear, sadness, anger, disgust, surprise and happiness. When we learn to trace all of our other emotions to these 6 basic emotions, we will also unlock the power of becoming less reactive and reducing the impact of draining emotions on our system. 

    Disclaimer 1: PLEASE be mindful of the fact, that this meditation is not going to be entirely pleasant. In order to understand how our body is talking to us, we need to go through these draining emotions, even if it is only for a little while. So if you have had (a) traumatic experience/s that is/are still quite fresh or that you have not had the chance to overcome yet, DO NOT TRY this meditation (yet)! Listen to what YOU need. If you do feel ready, I have added the somatic healing technique of reorientation to bring you back to the present moment and calm down your nervous system.

  • In today's meditation you will receive a deep relaxation from within. However, do bare in mind, that if you are facing repeated negative stress throughout your days, you should consider making changes to your current lifestyle. Meditation is only one of many important adjustments that can help you regain your inner balance.

    Today, we will be using the prithvi mudra, which is a grounding hand position to reconnect with the element of the earth. This helps you balance irrational thought, it helps you relax and regain your inner balance. This hand position is achieved by bringing the tip of your thumb and the tip of your ringfinger together, while the other fingers stay stretched out.

  • Todays meditation will help you reduce the feeling of loneliness that might be creeping in once in a while. Especially during the Corona Lockdown this has been a challenge for many individuals. We are trying to protect the people we love by keeping our distance, while disregarding the importance of the human touch. Therefor this meditation is for all the magnificent beings out there whom are not being able to receive any visitors in the elderly homes or hospitals, whom are living by themselves and even the ones who are overcome by loneliness while being surrounded by people. We are a very social species in need of human contact, so these feelings are totally normal. We are however able to make ourselves feel complete, all by ourselves.

  • Todays meditation is for all the ladies out there, that are suffering from lower abdomen pain during their menstruation. However, bare in mind, that the actual cause of these pains are what need to be treated in order to stop the vicious pain cycle. The root cause can stem from malnutrition or other physical blockages in your system but they can also stem from emotional, mental or even karmic/spiritual blockages. That being said, this meditation might therefore only help you with the pain you are currently experiencing.

    Before getting started, the remedy that has always saved me from sever pains is yoga and the combination of a hot water bottle with a rub of essential oils on my belly. You can find a post with the ingredients and other useful tips on my opportyounity instagram, website and facebook. However, please also read the instructions and counterindications before using it.

  • Todays meditation is a walking meditation where you will use your physical body, your mind and your senses to move into a new version of YOU.

    Use headphones for this meditation, so that your hands are free. You will however also be observing the sounds around you, so it would be best to keep one of your ears free from your headphones.

    Put on your shoes or even better - walk barefoot along the beach, in your garden or wherever you feel comfortable, taking off your shoes for a while. Even if you are inside somewhere, you’re able to join this meditation but I would highly recommend you getting some fresh air and connecting with nature for some time. We will be walking very slowly at the beginning, so if you feel uncomfortable with people looking at you while you walk in slow motion, choose a place without potential observers. The best option however is to simply do it anyways and not worry about what others might be thinking.

  • Todays meditation is all about the full moon and will be a bit more sensual than usual. Use this meditation to revive your senses/sensuality and dive into the cleansing atmosphere of the full moon.

    The light of the full moon has always been magical to me and is probably the most flattering light for the human body. No wonder it is the time for high energy, sexuality, inspiration and socializing. It is also seen as a feminine energy of creativity, empathy, sensuality, and comfort. Moon bathing is known for reducing anxiety, stress and rebalancing your inner world. Back in the day, when artificially lighting did not yet exist, women were said to be most fertile during this time as their menstrual cycle would be in tune with the moon phases.

  • Are you feeling low on energy? Use this meditation if you are a nature lover and in need of a recharge to get your day started!

    In this meditation you will be using the Dhyana Mudra: Place your left hand in your lap, and place your right hand on top. The fingers of your right hand should therefore be placed on top of the palm of your left hand and the fingers of your left hand are laying below the palm of your right hand. Both tips of your thumbs should be touching. You can find an image of this mudra on my Instagram in the carousel post for this meditation.

    In this meditation we are using the Mahasirsh mudra. A mudra is a hand position which helps to redirect, increase or release energy. The Mahasirsh mudra is used, amongst other things, to reduce headaches, relax stressed eyes and relieve you from stress and tension in your body and mind.
