What more could be said than was said in the last lesson. The work of redemption was complete, God's promises were fulfilled, God won and Satan lost, as usual. So is this the end of the story? Not by a long shot.
Jesus had fulfilled all that His Father wanted Him to do but He was not finished yet. There was one more objective to accomplish and it was going to include another group of people. Let's see what He had in mind.

The culmination of all that we have talked about for the last year and a half is happening. Everything that God said would happen is happening. Jesus is getting ready to bring about the central event and issue in all of human history. Nothing compares with the importance of what He is accomplishing for humanity.
All of people’s history and future depend on what happened at this moment. It is essential that you understand what God is trying to convince you of here. This is the center of reality and it is crucial that you understand what God is wanting you to understand. Take the time to do so and let it sink in today.

Knowing what you know about God's nature and character, how do you think that Jesus is going to handle the situation that He is in? How is He going to Deliver people from their sin and suffering?
Knowing what you know about people's nature and character, how do you think that they will handle Jesus' solution to the problem of sin? Once they find out what it will take to free mankind from the penalty and power of sin, how will they respond? Let's start talking about that.

The whole redemptive plan of God is getting ready to take place. What God promised way back in Genesis 3:15 is about to take place and I am sure that even though the disciples are anxious for this to take place, they probably were not ready for what it would cost.
Let's see what God wanted His Son to share with them before He finished the work that His Father sent Him to do.

Right before Jesus rides into Jerusalem for the Feast of the Passover, He heals a man. Even though He knew what was going to happen to Him, He still had compassion on those who suffered.
Jesus is loving, merciful and very gracious while being the One whom God promised would come to save mankind from the terrible curse of sin.

There were many "signs" which Jesus did that indicated just who He was in reality. Some of the people believed Him and some did not. Many probably believed that He was almost a magician and was just fooling the people or Himself but there was one sign which He would do that no one could dispute and anyone walking away from this event would either have to believe who He was or reject Him but they could not walk away from Him and not believe what He had done.
I trust that when you walk away from this lesson, you will come to the same conclusion that I did. Let's begin.

Many times Jesus used parables, which were stories to illustrate a particular theme He wanted people to understand.
Other times, He used real-life situations to also drive a particular theme home to His audiences heart. In today's lesson, Jesus is going to use both methods to help us understand who He is and who we are.
-
Today's lesson contrasts the difference between pride & humility as exhibited by the Pharisees and those who were not. The Lord is giving us examples of man's inability to follow the rules which not only God had made but which the religious leaders made to explain the Law.
I also starts to also reveal who the disciples thought Jesus to be and who Jesus Himself revealed Himself to be. This will be a good lesson to remember because what Jesus claimed Himself to be is the central theme in Scripture.
-
Jesus not only amazed the people by the miracles that He performed but also by the truths He taught. His miracles amazed the people's senses but His truths challenged the people's hearts.
Sometimes He explained to people who He was by what He did and then at other times, He taught them who He was by what He said. Today's lesson is about some of those event. Showing and then teaching were His main avenues for presenting truth. Enjoy His life today and at the end, see which of the people you might identify with.

Jesus mastery over nature, spirits, creation and forgiveness must have been a shocker for the people who saw Him work. Who could do these things but God Himself? This was the dilemma, wasn't it?
The Deliverer was more than just a Savior from political tyranny. He also was over spiritual tyranny and He could provide freedom from spiritual slavery under Satan's rule. Let's see how He continued to handle situations as they came at Him.

Jesus used many parables, examples and metaphors to illustrate certain truths when teaching the people. These illustrations helped the people to understand what He was saying but in many cases they were used to bring truths into the light where they revealed hidden motives and thoughts that people did not want others to know about.
Some people repented, some people hardened their hearts.
Today's lesson is one of the most famous of the parables and needs to be discussed in detail. It will help you to see why we have been teaching the way we have been and why we are taking so long to get to the gospel.

All through the Old Testament we see God telling the Israelites that He is going to do something for them or against them in keeping with His word that He would bless them if they obeyed Him or punish them if they didn't. Now He sends His Son as the promised Deliverer and some people believe Him and some do not.
Let's see how Jesus dealt with and responded to His declarations of Himself.
-
So many times people make wrong conclusions about a situation because they have a faulty or false view of the nature of God. Some think He came to destroy a world when He came to save a world. Some think that He sent His Son to heal their physical situation when He came to heal us of our spiritual condition.
Today's lesson should shed some more light into God's true purpose in sending His Son into this world.

Think what it must have been like for some to be around when the Deliverer came upon the scene. Wouldn't you like to have asked Him some questions? Wouldn't you have loved to sit down with Him and have a conversation with Him?
This lesson is a written record of one of those conversations. We are flies on the wall, so to speak, of a very important conversation. Let's listen in.

Have you ever wondered what people in the Old Testament thought about the Deliverer, what their perception was concerning Him?
I have often wondered how I would have viewed His coming into the world. Fortunately for us, God has given us an accurate record of this event and His ministry. It will be really encouraging to see the Deliverer in action. Enjoy the lesson.
-
Sometimes we think that because we are human and Jesus was God the Son, things must have been difficult for Him but not as difficult as it is for us. After all, He had a perfect nature and there was no way for Him to do anything wrong, right?
At least one person did not make this assumption but was this person's conclusion correct? The following lesson will tell us.
-
"God with us!" What a statement. That God would choose to dwell with men and be a Savior is beyond belief.
I trust that in this lesson we can start to see the immense sacrifice that the Savior endured in order to save mankind. Enjoy the lesson.

Throughout history, there have been men who have appeared on the scene and proclaimed to be "saviors." They led people to believe that they could deliver people from all sorts of things.
Now, God is sending a true Savior and how does He send Him? With pomp and circumstance? With great fanfare? With announcements to the whole earth? No! He sends Him through a single, unmarried virgin who gives birth in a stable. Sometimes we wonder why God does things the way He does but He has a purpose and it will all be revealed in due time.
-
Finally! The Deliverer has come to the human race. The One promised to Adam and Eve, Abraham & David has finally appeared.
4,000 years has passed but God kept His promise. He wasn't delayed in keeping His promise but when "the fullness of time had come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the Law." - Gal. 4:4.
Do you imagine that everyone was going to receive this promised One?
Do you think that everyone was going to be overjoyed at His presence?
