Remember this very simple acronym: Humility, Acceptance, Vulnerability and Empathy. Walk into a coaching relationship reminding yourself that this is not about you this is not about meeting your needs. This is about you being a fully present coach to another human being. When you're a coach you're trying to move people in the direction of their self-stated goals and that really takes help. It helps to take a look and ask them what are their goals. Have them help to focus on those but then the thing is you need to ask them good questions. I think any good coaches is really good at asking questions the other thing that I think a good coach is capable of is with that the awkward silence which is where the question is raised and then the individual you're working with is forced to really think through what it is that they want and you have to be comfortable with that silence.
