A Nottawasaga OPP officer and public health nurse with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit have been making a lot of noise with public awareness campaigns about drug use, mental health, and general well-being. So much noise in fact that they were honoured by the OPP commissioner for their work.

A charity that's been running for 11 years, the Shoebox Project. a local initiative that aims to support people who are most vulnerable and remind them they are not alone through the holiday season.

The Barrie Colts are near the top of the standings in the Central Division of the OHL standings. they have 3 road games this week to try and keep their position.

It wasn't that long ago that mental health advocates around Barrie were hopeful to see a supervised consumption site open to help people in the community. A site was chosen, applications were submitted, and some approvals were given. But then it became a waiting game, which went on too long for the Simcoe County branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association. Which has withdrawn its application
