  • #306: Emily recently spoke at her alma mater, Chapman University, on her personal journey throughout her 20s since the age of 20 and how she's navigated college and life after graduating. During this session, she noticed some questions that focused on ultimately becoming a better version of oneself through finding and creating more likeminded friendships, building self-confidence, and also questions around navigating a breakup.

Our 20s are some of the most pivotal years and biggest opportunities to learn and grow, which become a foundation in life throughout our 30s and onwards. Take the time today to invest in yourself and create a better version of you - one that you'll be grateful for later.

  • #304: "Everything needs food to live, even love. If we don't know how to nourish our love, it withers. When we feed and support our own happiness, we're nourishing our ability to love. That's why to love means to learn the art of nourishing our happiness." via How to Love - Thich Nhat Hanh

To mindfully show up on a daily basis in a loving frequency and energy takes a lot of practice. But, it first starts with a simple desire and interest in doing so.

When was the last time you kindly smiled to a stranger? How often do you see people simply looking at their phones, clearly preoccupied by the future or past, but not remaining in the present?

When you are in the presence of someone exuding a high loving frequency, have you noticed a difference? If you want to exude this yourself, what can you do differently today?

  • #302: Everyone talks about wishing they had more time to do the things they really want to do, but what does your schedule really indicate?

How much free time do you really have to make time for the hobbies and activities you're curious about?

Chances are, you can probably swap happy hour or coffee with your co-worker for an after-work sports league. Or maybe, finally create time for that ballet class you want to do weekly.

Pro tip? Schedule it in your calendar. And do it a week ahead.

  • #299: If you don't have a general vision or direction for your life, then you will eventually find yourself "floating" too much and almost getting lost. On the flip side, if you plan too much and think too far into the future, you will miss the present and the beauty of letting life happen in its flow.

The thing is, you really do need both. You need to create a general plan of where you're going to go, in order to know what things/people don't align with you on your journey, and vice versa.

So, how do you utilize both? Tune into this episode to hear more of Emily's thoughts on how she lets go of her rigid long-term vision planning and finds the sweet spot with "going with the flow", depending on the context.

  • #298: At some point in your life, you learn to recognize the value and importance of relationships, especially friendships, that deeply connect with you and leave a positive impact on your life.

The kinds of friendships where you can rely on the person to talk through tough times with you. The types of people that will drive hours, just to see you on a rare occasion.

These of course, take time to build. But what does it start with? Your intention and how you show up for others.

  • #296: It's very common to "lose ourself" in one way or another when we get into a new relationship. It's even easier to do so when you don't have a very clear idea of who you are and what you like and don't like.

  • #294: One of the biggest obstacles we face as we navigate adulthood is figuring out our personal finances. From how to make more, save, invest, and of course, how to actually be conscious with the way we spend our money.

It's easy nowadays to just click the purchase button on Amazon and not think anything of it. It's easy to just swipe your credit card on everything you want, but probably shouldn't be buying. It's also easy to hoard a lot of unnecessary items in your closet.

So how can we work to be more mindful and conscious with spending money? Emily shares her personal tips on this episode and what she does exactly to be more "in control" of where her money goes, while also being savvy by investing another percentage of her disposable income into a long-term investment account.

  • #291: In April 2023, Emily sat down next to an elder couple in their 80s in Florence, Italy and ended up striking a meaningful conversation with them. To the point that they invited her and her friend for hot coca after dinner to continue the conversations.

This couple has been married for 60 years, while also building a fortune well over $500M through the sale of three companies and the husband now invests as a shareholder in other companies in UK and overseas, while leading his own philanthropy organization to give back to seriously ill children.

A little more than a year later, Emily reconnected with them in-person, this time, in England where they reside, and had the opportunity to stay with them for a few days and soak in the perspectives they had to share on life in their 84 years of living.

    Topics discussed:

Ultimate question to ask yourself to determine if that is truly your life partner (more than one couple shared this)Key ingredient to career and personal successHow true wealth is built and rarely ever that flashy externallyImportance of having your own life as a woman, outside of being a wife, mother, etc. How marriage can last after 50+ years of being together (and the foundation of it)

It's common for us to get caught up in the opinions of our loved ones and what they want or think is best for us.

But it's important to remember that at the end of the day, the decisions we make for our lives - whether it's who we marry, where we go to school, where we live, etc., that impacts YOU.

  • #288: On this episode, Emily gets candid and shares one of her top secrets to her success in personal life and in her businesses. While sharing this with others, she realized that not many people actually follow up as much as they need to and are often losing out on great opportunities, whether career or personal related, due to the lack of following up.

One of the primary reasons Emily was able to scale her boutique marketing agency to 6-figures is because of the amount of following up she did with potential clients and partners.

She also applies this in personal life, when it comes to making plans and time to see friends. While maybe following up five times is not the move in personal life, it's important to put ego aside and still follow up with friends if you want to make the connection and create time to see one another.

If you're looking for a little nudge on how to follow up more and feel more confident about doing so, this episode is a must listen.
