This week on the podcast, CL and Michelle discuss the absence of black TikTokers on the Top Earners list, how to build an audience to be sold, and we announce the 2nd Annual Top Black Marketers List.
Become Recognized as a Top Black Marketer (02:25)
We are announcing the 2nd Annual Top Black Marketers List. We want to recognize people in the marketing field that are doing their thing. We want to highlight the people making an impact and creating on the highest level.
No Black TikTokers at The Top (12:36)
In the recent Forbe’s List of Top-Earning TikTok-ers 2022, BET pointed out that there were no black content creators on the list. This made Michelle wonder what is wrong with the cash pipeline feeding into these platforms? Especially when the numbers of followers and views are similar.
If you feel like you or someone you know qualifies to be on this list, please submit so you can have the chance to be recognized.

Build an Audience So You Can Sell It (32:12)
We wrap the podcast by looking into an emerging trend: Media companies and big brands buying other media and production companies. With the utmost confidence in their business model, audience acquisition is one of the most lucrative investments into growing your customer base. As brands are getting more thoughtful about their advertising budget and customer acquisition cost, more of them are starting to build an audience. Still, the ones with the most cash to burn are buying entire audiences to add to their ecosphere.
The question is can you build an audience for purchase? Do you have a blog, YouTube Channel, podcast, social media presence built around a brand that a more prominent brand could purchase? You might already be doing it. It could be your most valuable asset, and you don’t even know it.

This week on the podcast, Michelle and CL break down the first-ever 2021 Black Podcast Listener Report. We look into the numbers and discuss what we learn about black podcast listeners. We had critiques and follow-up questions that podcasters would like to know from the survey results. Overall we discover YouTube is the most significant gateway into podcasts for black people, and it's not close. Here is some background information about the study. Thanks for listening!
Who Is The Data From
SXM Media is the advertising arm of the Sirus XM company, which owns Stitcher, a podcasting platform, and Pandora, which recently added podcasting to its app. Mindshare is one the run of the mill multinational marketing corporations that work with some of the more prominent brands. You'll never hear about them, but you have likely been exposed to their work. Edison does many different types of consumer-related industry research.
Who Is The Data For
As I read through the data, I had to check my eyes because I couldn't help but look at it through the eyes of a podcaster. The data intends to serve the advertisers key statistics that will sell them on the idea that advertising on black podcasts is a good if not effective move. As a podcaster, I searched for ways that could help me grow my audience. Instead, the data reflects the most obvious points podcasters are aware of and facts that reign true across media platforms.

We are ramping up production and this week we have another episode. This week we are importing a podcast from another feed. I recently did an away game with the homey Mickell Ford on his Podcast I Watched This As An Adult. It’s a podcast that takes on the duties of watching movies from the past that you were probably fond of but with a fresh set of eyes and cinematic standards. In this particular episode, we review ‘Romeo Must Die’ staring Aaliyah, Jet Li and somehow DMX makes it on the poster as well. It had been at least 15 years since I had watched the movie. I thought I was going to be thrilled to get nostalgic about my days but in fact, when we break down the film, we discussed some of the problematic things in the film that was much more prevalent in 2000. This also gave me an excuse to bust out my DMX impression. I didn’t love it as much as I wanted to but I was completely captivated by Aaliyah’s performance. If you are a fan of hers it’s a must-watch but everyone else could probably live without it. Thanks for listening!

A few weeks back I was as ready as could be to talk protest and how we make things actually change. I’m the first to admit I am not plugged in and every so often, you need the plug. I hit up Amber Sherman from “The Law According To Amber”. A podcast where out here doing the public a service and actually putting people on game when it comes to their rights. This is also the first of my make up sessions from a lost series of podcasts that I recorded last year. Nonetheless Amber is out of Memphis and she has a knack for shaking things because the true way to make a difference in the community at the local level. We break down what you can do to make a difference and also hold myself accountable.

This Week on the podcast we have Chris Powell aka CouchCoach from CouchCoach Live and CouchCoachOnline.com to help wrap up the Michael Jordan "The Last Dance" 10 part ESPN documentary.
Is This Proof Michael Jordan Will Always Be The Greatest?
The Last Dance takes place around a season that happened over 20 years ago. Anyone under 30 is unlikely to have a clear sense of what MJ was. Since then we have had Kobe and LeBron be considered in the conversations but never over Jordan. This documentary although it is more of Michael Jordan's memoirs and less hard-hitting investigational journalism, the documentary does a great job of setting the tone of how much far and ahead of the game he was and the mastery of the sport made by far the greatest basketball player many had ever seen.
Theory: Michael Jordan Play Baseballs to chase Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders to be 'Greatest Athlete Ever'

If you are anywhere on the passionate NBA fan spectrum, the last 30 days has supercharged your interest. The transactions have dominated the last couple of weeks. Before everyone was switching teams willingly, there a few trades that happened around the NBA mostly around the NBA Draft and of course that was fresh off a Toronto Raptors' win in the NBA Finals.
-
Wudup doe? This week on the podcast I bring on my blood, DJ Mikael to recap Game 2 of the NBA Finals, appreciate what the Golden State Warriors are, and he proceeds to takes down LeBron James as a team player.
Game 2 was another close game and Warriors pulled out another one out their you know what. At halftime it look like the Toronto could move forward with a win but the Raptors let the “Third Quarter Warriors” come alive by letting them score 18 straight points. Add that to the fact no one was able to hit open shots and it looks like going to Oakland will be even more up hill.
Mikael and I also appreciate the Warriors and what they have meant to NBA fandom. They are hard to stop and we have connection to one of the Warriors from Saginaw, Michigan.
We wrap up with a bonus conversations about why Mikael thinks LeBron James is a bad teammate. He has some severe drawbacks as the focal point of the team. I’m not in 100% agreeance but I entertain some the points he was making.
Thanks for listening!

This week on the #DaRundownSouth Podcast, Keith Nelson Jr. joins us once again to help preview the NBA Finals discuss the off-season storylines.Tracklist 4:19 DaBaby and Dreamville vs TDE 13:23 NBA Finals - Golden State Warriors Path 24:33 NBA Finals Toronto Raptors Path 41:52 NBA Off-season Story lines It’s really happening. In the year 2019, the NBA Finals will feature the Golden State Warriors against the Toronto Raptors. Tan Drake will be hosting Game 1&2 and Kawhi will get his first crack at the Golden State since his ankle was compromised since 2016. The Warriors are going for the Three-peat (Copyright to Pat Riley) title and their fourth in five years. It has been looked at as a forgone conclusion that the Warriors are going to win in 4 to 6 games . The host of this podcast may have some unreasonable confidence in the Raptors abilities to stop Warriors. Either way this Finals will series be different from the last five years. There is no LeBron to speak of. There is legacy talk and speculation of where Kevin Durant and Kawhi Leonard will land next year. Thanks for listening.

This week on the podcast I have on DeAnthony Arnett of the Unsportsmanlike Conduct Podcast from the 4Cast Netword based out of Detroit. Dee and I go way back since he is my first cousin but you all may know him from some notable athletic endeavors, epsecially the time spent playing Divsion 1 football. We discuss the NBA matchups in the playoffs and explore subtopics with each, like where are key free agents landing. After that I ask Deanthony about a few interesting people he has crossed paths with in the past.

Hey this week on the podcast I welcome in the new listner with a reintroduction. I go over my podcast journey from the last six years. Some ups and downs, lessons learned and a new evolution of the podcast to come. I also have two observations since I have come back to podcasting and one unpopular take. I end the podcast by recommending Pat Flynn's Smart Passive Income and Count The Dings BOM Podcast.- Thanks for listening!

This week on the podcast I have my good friend Jez come on the podcast to help rundown so topics. It has been almost a month since the last podcast, so I decided to cram in as many topics as possible into one episode.
We begin by talking to Jez in a cold open about his adjustment from Atlanta to D.C. Then we go into LeBron and the bubbling narrative that is trying to give Kevin Durant the crown this year. (13:20) We keep sports going and transition into Rob Gronkowski retiring from the NFL and the mark he left on the game for fans like us (25:30)
The main topic for this episode is the cost of attention. We group the Jussie Smollett story (31:00) with the Kodak Black need to say outlandish things (34:50) because both of these individuals have behavior that stems from the need of attention. It seems that the art isn't carrying them where they want and have chosen other avenues to boost their profile.
On the other end of the spectrum, Cardi B is getting unwanted attention for some comments she made before she came up. (42:18) She stated she used sex to lure men into a setup where they would get drugged and robbed by Cardi. People have been comparing her to Bill Cosby and R. Kelly but that may be a bit much. We explore a few different angles.
We close the podcast with the college admissions scandal and some different aspects of snitching. Mainly because the key cooperator was black Yale soccer coach that tried to get $450,000 from a father.
Thanks for listening!
