Purdy from Brighton shares at the Sheffield Sunday As Bill Sees it meeting.
This episode was recorded 23rd February 2025
Please find the full reading below, enjoy this episode! We Are Not Fighting, p. 121
We have ceased fighting anything or anyone–even alcohol. For by this
time sanity has returned. We can now react sanely and normally, and
we find that this has happened almost automatically. We see that this
new attitude toward liquor is really a gift of God.
That is the miracle of it. We are not fighting it, neither are we avoiding
temptation. We have not even sworn off. Instead, the problem has
been removed. It does not exist for us. We are neither cocky nor
afraid.
That is how we react–so long as we keep in fit spiritual condition.

No Personal Power, p. 114
“At first, the remedy for my personal difficulties seemed so obvious that I could not imagine any alcoholic turning the proposition down were it properly presented to him. Believing so firmly that Christ can do anything, I had the unconscious conceit to suppose that He would do everything through me–right then and in the manner I chose. After six long months, I had to admit that not a soul had surely laid hold of the Master–not excepting myself.
“This brought me to the good healthy realization that there were plenty of situations left in the world over which I had no personal power–that if I was so ready to admit that to be the case with alcohol, so I must make the same admission with respect to much else. I would have to be still and know that He, not I, was God.”

Some of the guests are members of other fellowships including AA, including in this episode, the first of a 3 part series with a man called Mark who was sober 18 years in AA, but his food issues got worst as Mark failed to list and analyse these issues in his 1st Step 4.
Thankfully, we are happy to report today Mark is enjoying his food the best ever in his life, feeling great with a healthy eating plan, 350 days clean of his biggest problematic food refined Sugar which can be found in many processed foods and condiments, saying recently
" not needing a Chocolate bar, ice cream, cake, biscuits is a bigger miracle than stopping drinking in many respects. I am truly amazed by the results in my personality change, physique and how much more peaceful I feel now the sugar brain fog has lifted..."
We hope you enjoy this insightful journey into another key addiction issue useful, and wish you all the best for Christmas and 2025!Support the show
