“95% of who we are is our unconscious programming. That means that’s how we grew up, that’s all we ever saw that’s all we ever learned. That’s how we believe we’re supposed to be because ‘this is just how my family is’. So that’s why it is so dang hard to overcome that. And that’s why most people don’t. That’s why most people are stuck in mediocrity.’
Friends! With episode 12, season 1 is a wrap! I am overwhelmed with emotion and gratitude to wrap up the first 12 weeks of the ‘Be Her Now’ podcast.
Join me as we ‘bridge the gap’ from a life of brokenness, abuse, and lack of purpose to worthiness, peace and healing. We are all deserving of a life of abundant love and contentment. I hope today’s episode shines a light on that belief and lights a spark for you to step out in faith to claim it!

"‘We have to get out of that mindset of labeling food ‘good’ or ‘bad’. How I want you to think is, ‘This food will take me closer to feeling like my best self and to ultimate health and this food is going to take me further and further away from feeling amazing. When you can start to look at food that way, you’ll have a whole different frame of mind around it.”
In this episode, I’m dropping my top 5 tips I give my new clients to get started right on their wellness journey and ensure success.
Nutrition tips, fitness tips and overall mindset shifts to help you get started, stay consistent and see lasting change. The better equipped you are with a plan when you get started, the more likely you are to stay on track, stay consistent and see better results!

“If you’re not doing the internal work on figuring out why you’re running and what you’re running from every time you reach for food, you’re going to be right back at square one every time; having gained back the weight and then some. And every new attempt takes you further and further away from what could actually end up being all you needed to do in the first place which is get in touch with yourself.”
This is part 2 of our conversation about our relationship with food. Let’s talk about the diet LIE, the desperate weight loss loop we get stuck in and indicators that your relationship with food is healthy.
In this episode you’ll learn about the most powerful thing you can do right now to begin to heal your relationship with food.

‘In that moment when you can stay with your feelings and not leave yourself, that’s where it starts. And that is so hard to do, so instead, we stick our hand into a bag of chips over and over and over again until they’re gone, or we feel sick or we finally come to, wondering where the heck we are and what just happened.’
The question posed to me by a client that is the basis of this week’s episode was: “What do you do when you’ve always used food as your source of joy?”
In part one of this two-parter, I cover ways our relationship with food may have formed in childhood, indicators of an unhealthy relationship with food, and what it takes to tune into our body when we really want to bolt and numb with food instead. What happens when we don’t allow ourselves to use food for comfort?
If you struggle with your relationship with food and feel lost with how to break free, my hope for this episode is that it will shed some light for you, you will begin to do some searching and uncover those deeply embedded roots that have formed your relationship.
I had so much to share, so I split it into 2 episodes! Be sure to tune in to next week’s episode (Ep. #10) for the second half.
This stuff fires me up and I am SO passionate about helping women have that breakthrough that will lead to a life of food freedom once and for all.

“When we can acknowledge the ever-so-slight affect of our everyday decisions, we can look at how this habit, over time, can put us in a downward trajectory. We may not feel the repercussions right in that moment; maybe not a month from now or six months or a year from now, but it is taking us one direction or another.”
First we build our habits, then our habits build our lives. Our entire life is a reflection of the things we do over and over and since most of our patterns are subconscious we don’t even question them. If we’re not conscious of our daily habits, we are under someone or something else’s control.
The key to building better habits is to find the habits that aren’t contributing to a better future and replace them with those that will.
Join me in this episode as we dig into what it looks like to embody the type of woman you want to be and create new habits to support acting in alignment with who she is….now.

“Any growth, any success, TRUE freedom is about taking back your power from things that happened in your past and creating your new CORE story about yourself. You are not what happened to you. What happened to you is not your fault and it doesn’t define you unless you let it.”
What if you woke up one day and realized everything you’d been telling yourself was a lie. In that moment you realize the only limitations you’ve had in your life have been placed upon you by yourself?
What if you had the ability to see another perspective in life?
Our life is a result of the stories we’ve developed about ourselves as a result of experiences and circumstances from our past. We’ve made these things mean something about who we are as a person.
The secret to unlocking everything we want lies in learning how to tell ourselves a different story.
Listen in to learn just how to do that and the critical thing we must do FIRST in order to make our new empowering stories stick.

“Once you learn this formula and you start to question your thoughts and not just take them as fact you’re going to change your life, your relationships with people, how you parent, and how you lead. This is powerful stuff.”
As humans on our own healing journey, we can tend to misconstrue facts, interpreting others’ words or actions to give them negative meaning about ourselves.
In this episode, I take you through a powerful formula that will help you shift a negative thought to an empowering one. It starts with first being AWARE of our thoughts.
Don’t believe everything you think. If you can change your thoughts, you can change your life.

“I realized that I was not unlovable. My standards weren’t too high. I was not impossible. I just didn’t realize my worth and I was letting other people define that. My identity was tied to being a mom and a wife and a homemaker. And today my identity is that I’m a child of God.”
’Unbecoming’ who we’ve been led to believe we are requires a delicate balance of grace and action. It’s a process of identifying and shedding the layers we’ve been living under; those that have been imposed upon us, and those we’ve developed to keep us safe. Ultimately, taking personal responsibility for who we’ve become and being willing to do the hard work of healing is the only way to the other side.
Sometimes healing looks like barefoot walks on the beach and long afternoon naps. Other times it’s difficult sessions with your therapist and crying out to God.
When you ’find’ yourself again, you will realize you were there all along, patiently collecting the lessons needed for your next chapter. When the dark clouds have parted and you can once again see the light, it will be brighter than ever and you will realize it was all worth it.
It’s not our fault we were broken, but it is our responsibility to heal.

"Waking up one morning in my new place by myself as a divorced, single mom in this pretty much empty townhome... it was this weird paradox of freedom, that I had so desperately longed for, but then also that realization that it was so completely different."
The road to finding yourself again after a decades long relationship is truly a journey of ‘unbecoming’ by unlearning everything you thought you were supposed to be and rediscovering who you really are.
Walk with me in this first of 2 episodes as we talk about the healing process of redefining my identity in this new season of life and touch on some really tough questions:
Was I letting God down? Was it really what was best for my kids? What does ‘starting over’ even look like after that long?
Whether you’ve been divorced or found yourself single after a long-term relationship that has left you feeling broken, lacking confidence, or even worthless, after listening to this episode, my hope is that you would be encouraged.
You are not alone and this is not where your story ends. Beauty from ashes. Your story has just begun.

"And it was like one of those moments where your heart just drops to your feet and you're left standing there with this information. All I could think was, 'Get it out of me... now. Get it out of my body today.'"
In January of 2017, I had just filed for my divorce and went live on Facebook to sing a message of hope. My video caught the eye of a complete stranger, who also just happened to be a nurse. The lump she saw on my throat prompted her to send me a DM voicing her concern.
It turned out to be cancer.
On this episode, I invite you to walk with me as I share my journey from DM to diagnosis and how I learned through this trial that in the end, the body truly does keep the score.

“Nobody can tell you the right time, the right decision. You’ll know that; as you’re growing your confidence, your courage and your clarity about your life, you’ll feel prompted to make changes.”
In this week’s episode we’ll talk about the importance of discerning the voices (people, books, media, etc...) we allow to speak into us when we’re going through trials. What we consume is who we become.
Let’s talk about what it means to ‘Be Her Now’ BEFORE you feel ready, and actionable steps to help you get started or move forward on your growth journey.

"I feel stuck. Stuck in fear, stuck in excuses. Not even sure what the next right step would be. I just know I don't want to be here anymore."
~ me, 2016
Maybe you've been in that place. Maybe you're here now. And it seems like things will never change. Today I want to bring you encouragement. There is hope, my friend.
If I was going to launch a podcast called Be Her Now, I needed to first be her then. Returning to that place, I could feel the desperation. I knew deep down inside that I was made for more, yet paralyzed by fear, I was settling for less.
On this first episode of the Be Her Now podcast, I want to invite you to join me on this journey as I read a DM from the perspective of my 2016 self to my self of today.
