  • This week join little sis Alex and her Bestie Elizabeth as they discuss Florida and Governor Ron DeSantis. DeSantis has super conservative views on race, gender and education. Currently in Florida law HB 5 prohibits an abortion after an unborn child has reached 15 weeks of gestation however Desantis stated he would sign an abortion ban outlawing the procedure once cardiac activity is detected — around the sixth week of pregnancy if the house proposed bill. Pronouns no longer allowed in schools in Florida. Alex and Elizabeth discuss Florida House Bill 999 eliminating diversity programs in colleges and Florida House bill 543 allows gun owners to carry a concealed firearm without a state permit. Whew it's alot!

  • In this episode sisters Alex and Astrid return from vacation to discuss the Roe v Wade overturn and what that means for society. Sisters raise some questions and logistics that were not considered. This includes health complications, the rising healthcare cost, the formula shortage, amount of children in foster care currently homeless and much more. It is a difficult time for women and families alike. The power of choice is slowly being removed and America is blurring the lines between religion and state each day.

Sisters are at a loss for words as to what to do next as it is highly dependent on the states. Do we want to go back in time when pro-lifers were blocking abortion clinic entrances? Do we want witness doctors being killed in cold blood because of their medical practices? Do we want absolve women of the power of choice for their healthcare needs? There is much at stake with the overturn of Roe v Wade and hopefully, the families who want to continue having choices on when and how to extend their families will find viable solutions during this unprecedented time.

Sisters are open to hearing of possible solutions.

  • In this episode sisters Alexandra Hodge and Astrid Ferguson discuss their recent mini-vacation at Chicago, IL. They had the whole experience of visiting the Navy Pier, seeing the Chicago bean, and Boystown. They got to experience the LGBTQ+ community in a whole new way and loved the community of Chicago. This made the Memorial Day weekend one to remember and an excuse to visit once more.

If you have not visited Chicago we definitely recommend exploring the many lake fronts, beach settings, bike ride San Francisco vibe, and the many restaurants with great food. The sisters had the luxury of staying with some of their close friends while riding in their TESLA. Which the sisters had their own likes and dislikes about the TESLA to share in this episode. Life is meant to be lived and explored and that is exactly what sisters Alexandra Hodge and Astrid Ferguson share in this episode.

  • In this episode sisters, Alexandra Hodge and Astrid Ferguson, discuss the top five characteristics of emotional intelligence and how the pandemic has caused a decline in social skills. Many of us have been noticing the over stimulation while in the office. We find the noise, small talk, and even the clock ticking as a distraction. This all has to deal with a decline in our social skills.

It is only natural that after two years of socialization reduced to a mute button and a screen that most of us forgot to hold the door for each other as a sign of courtesy. Many have been watching the news of the Buffalo, NY racial hate crime to the Texas recent elementary school shooting while clinching our teeth. It is seriously scary out there. However, we can peel back the layers and discover underneath it all--an overlooked mental health condition. As sisters wrap up mental health awareness month, check out different ways you can raise your emotional intelligence. Being more emotionally intelligent helps us all become more aware of our emotions and foster more meaningful relationships with others. We cannot save or change everyone, but we can save each other some pain.

  • After a couple of weeks of overcoming colds, company trips/engagements, and just life turning sisters Alexandra Hodge and Astrid Ferguson into anti-social bums, they decided to come back for a little catch-up. As many are aware, Kevin Samuels passing along with more pressing matters like the supreme court voting on the case of Roe vs. Wade implications on women's bodies.

While Kevin Samuels suggested that women who were over an 8 were the only women capable of catching a six-figure income earning man, he failed to highlight once again, that women bodies continue to be mans favorite topic of choice. Hence in the Roe vs. Wade leaning towards banning abortions claiming it is the "Christian" thing to do. While sisters do not necessarily believe in abortions they do believe that it should remain a woman's choice to have or not have children. Kevin Samuels passing is unfortunate. Sadly the women who he spoke about in a degrading manor, are neither moved nor concerned with his passing. That is something many are still unable to grapple with. So sisters simply say listen to your emotions and attend to them the best way you know how. Only you know what either of these important topics mean to you and strongly suggest you exercise your rights.

  • In this episode sisters Alexandra hodge and Astrid Ferguson decide to weigh in on a clip from a fellow podcast that went viral. The aries and scorpio podcast shared a clip about a guest that stated "She would rather die on the side of the road than call her daughters father." Naturally, Alex and Astrid decided to share some of their own struggles with co-parenting and learn when to put egos aside for the best interest of their sons.

Parenting is not easy for any parent. Hence, Alex shares the added layer of raising a an autistic child to the complexities and it makes it that much harder. Single moms are overwhelmed and should not have to do it all. The same can be said about single fathers. Although they are not highlighted as often. Co-parenting is harder to do when two parents are constantly competing and expectations on who should be doing what for the child exist. Ideally, both parents should be contributing to raise a child in a positive environment (in the same or different households). Even if both parents don't get along co-parenting can be achieved if the best interest of the child is prioritized.

So listen and let us know what is getting in the way of your co-parenting.?

  • In this episode sisters Alexandra Hodge and Astrid Ferguson discuss withdrawing from grief and it's after affects. It is not secret that grief has been the center at the demise of many of the characters we have witnessed in both real life and in our favorite stories (Bridgerton, Encanto, and even the Yeezy Netflix series to name a few). Grief is a tragic emotion most of us have or will experience in many different forms.

However, why is it so much easier to drown grief with responsibilities, accomplishments and accolades? Most of us have probably been told that emotions are a sign of weakness. So in this episode Astrid Ferguson shares her experience with grief when she lost her father the same year she had her first born son. A candid conversation only two sisters can share.

So please listen along and ask yourselves how do you deal with grief? How does this coping mechanism work for you?

  • In this episode Alexandra Hodge and Astrid Ferguson discuss diversity and inclusion in the workplace, biases they didn’t realize they had, and the brown eye blue eye experiment by Jane Elliot. Most people think of diversity and inclusion as one of the same but in reality they are separate. In the workplace the main thing that is missing and spent the least amount of time is in, is training. Alexandra who worked in HR many years, particularly in the training department, shares how costly hiring a new person can easily become and human capital being the prime investment for organizations not fully utilized.

Sisters Alexandra and Astrid challenge you to discover your own biases while also discovering the level of engagement provided by your organization for people of color. Hiring people of color just to meet a quota is not conducive and is the antiquated way of looking at diversity and inclusion. Listen to Astrid share what she has learned within the first week of courses of her certification in diversity and inclusion.

  • In this episode sisters Alexandra and Astrid discuss what is the mom complex and how it compares to mom guilt. Hint: they are not discussing the mom complex referring to dating terms. Many know the mom complex when it refers to a guy dating females who mirror traits of his mother. We are talking about the mom complex as it relates to care vs. loving your children.

Big sister, Astrid Ferguson discusses a conversation she was recently in and the shameful thoughts that came up for working moms who are also breadwinners. Some of these households also relate to stay at home dads. The unnatural conversation that transpire when mom's feel guilt when it relates to hiring others to fulfill mom duties many don't particular enjoy. The shaming guilt behind not budgeting for a nanny for instance as a mothers career progressive and how many of us confuse care for love.

This is a very untraditional episode as the navigation of the very serious yet taboo topics surrounding mom complex also sometimes referred to as mom guilt.

  • In this episode, sisters Alexandra Hodge and Astrid Ferguson discuss experimentation with sexuality only to find out they are just extremely boring straight females! Alex genuinely wants to keep exploring and researching the topic of polyamory. So if you know someone who is poly or in a poly relationship send them our way. Besides the comical messy discussion on dating, the sisters tackle some current events that have hit the streets since their last episode.

Prayers for Ukraine while they experience Russian invasion and refugees become increasingly desperate. Information is pretty scarce on Ukraines state so please help where possible. Brief discussions include Lynching finally becoming a federal hate crime in America and sleepy Biden asking Americans to return to the office. This is an action packed episode and as always, comical.
