When Dan Brophy, a popular teacher at the Oregon Culinary Institute, was found murdered in 2018, it became one of the most astounding true crime stories Oregon had seen in decades. The big twist: his wife, Nancy, was ultimately found guilty of his murder. But Nancy was also a suspense romance novelist, and some of the details of the crime appeared almost forecasted in her fiction. Today we’re talking with Heidi Joy Tretheway, host of the new podcast “Happily Never After: Dan and Nancy.” We’ll talk with her about the ways fact and fiction blended together in this unexpected saga.
