Does it count against the run if I talk about a comic for four year olds that includes talking dogs? It's not Dog Man at least.
In this episode, we talk about Yuichi Yokyama's New Engineering! We mostly spend the time breaking down what is even happening in these very iconographic stories about very abstract concepts. It's comics at their purest, we LOVED it.

This week on the show, Rick and I talk about Maruo Suehiro's adaptation of one of the strangest tales of all. There's decadence, Edgar Allen Poe, sex, and blood. What's not to love?

Rick and I dive into one of Jack Kirby's weirder and less beloved creations, The Eternals! Some issues fucking slam, some issues... do not. It's all worth it for a little guy called Kro.

This week on the podcast, we are joined by Casey AKA MinovskyArticle to discuss Panpanya's first short story collection, Invitation from a Crab. It's spooky, it's funny, it's contemplative, and it's beautifully illustrated. You absolutely must check this one out.

Listen. I know I toss superlatives around a lot, but City of Glass is a masterpiece. I believe that with my whole heart. So glad we got to discuss it on this episode. Also! Rick read Princess Knight and I read the Dark Phoenix Saga! A good time was had by all, except Daniel Quinn. That guy is pretty miserable.

We're back! All the Export pods had to take a pause while I recovered from covid, but Coffee & Comic Books returns with an episode about this classic of comics theory. We were joined by Mark for a 90 minute conversation where we get into all the things that have got us to return to the book over the years, and all the things about it that are frustrating and worth criticizing.

We leave Billy Bat Land and go about as far in the other direction we can go: a sober memoir about sexual assault, gendered violence, the people that culture produces, colonial violence, and climate change.
If you'd like to read more about the cultural, economic, and historical context that Kate Beaton's Ducks emerges out of, we highly highly recommend reading this piece by Kawai Shen on Solrad.
