Your host, Mike Bryan, talks with the Founder of Maniscripting, Samantha Kozuch. Samantha shared that she was enjoying a cup of coffee with cream on her desk. She had taken a break from coffee for a year but returned to it with a healthier approach, adding collagen to her strong morning brew.
Samantha's journey into e-commerce began when the pandemic hit. As a business coach, she started teaching her community how to stay focused on their goals through journaling prompts and meditations. This led to a demand for a tangible product, and thus, Samantha created a journal workbook.
She launched the journal in 2020 and has been growing and scaling her e-commerce business ever since. Samantha's epiphany moment was realizing that she didn't want her coaching business to be her long-term career. She saw an opportunity to create a physical product and, despite not having prior knowledge of e-commerce, she dove into learning everything she needed to know and took action.

Your host, Mike Bryan, talks with the Founder of e-com BOSS, Tina Striker. Eight years ago, Tina and her husband embarked on their e-commerce journey. Their first product, a mini bike pump, faced initial challenges. However, they found success with a different product they discovered in Slovenia. Tina emphasized the importance of persistence in overcoming obstacles, including FDA regulations when trying to expand their business to the US.
The product that really took off for Tina and her husband was one that addressed specific customer pain points. They now have over 100 different variations of this product, constantly improving it based on customer feedback. Tina stressed the importance of understanding your customers and differentiating your product from others in the market.
When it comes to sourcing, Tina mentioned that they work with suppliers in both Europe and China. While sourcing from Slovenia is more expensive, they still collaborate with their Slovenian supplier for certain products. They also work with Chinese suppliers for cost-effective options. It took time to get the Chinese suppliers on board with their quality standards, but they eventually achieved the desired outcome.

Your host, Mike Bryan, talks with the Founder of XP Strategy, Abe Chomali. Abe prefers black coffee with a mushroom blend. Abe's e-commerce journey began with traditional commerce in 1991. He transitioned to e-commerce in the late 1990s, initially selling on Yahoo Stores before moving to his own website and advertising on Google.
Abe's e-commerce business primarily focuses on consumer electronics, such as digital cameras, video cameras, and personal handheld accessories like Palm Pilots. Despite facing challenges with payment terms and merchant accounts in the early days, Abe saw the potential of e-commerce when Google started allowing advertising. The numbers grew exponentially, with Abe investing hundreds of thousands of dollars monthly in Google ads.
Abe discussed the importance of treating an Amazon business like a real business. Abe emphasized the need for sellers to have a clear plan, treat it seriously, and understand the intricacies of the platform. He advised against simply "getting started" without a proper understanding of the rules and processes involved.
Sellers with retail experience have an advantage, as they are already familiar with dealing with a rule book and following specific guidelines. This experience translates well to navigating Amazon's rule book and leads to greater success.

Your host, Mike Bryan, talks with the Co-Founder of Joey'z Shopping, Charles Chakkalo. Charles, a traditionalist, prefers his coffee with whole milk and a dash of sugar. Charles' entrepreneurial spirit was ignited early on, inspired by his father who started a retail business after immigrating to the country as a refugee. Charles and his brothers began their entrepreneurial journey by selling discounted Coca-Cola in school, turning a neat profit. Their venture expanded in high school when they discovered Amazon retail arbitrage, leveraging the school's daily UPS pickups and free printing services to sell items online.
Charles and his brothers invested their life savings into their business, traveling up and down the East Coast buying and selling items online. They started with retail arbitrage, focusing specifically on light bulbs. When asked for advice on e-commerce strategy, Charles emphasized the importance of having a clear path and understanding the components of pursuing a specific niche. He illustrated this with the example of a glow-in-the-dark garlic press, explaining the need to understand the industry, target audience, and keyword strategies. Charles recommended tools like Data Dive, Jungle Scout, and Helium 10 for data gathering and informed decision-making. He also stressed the importance of knowing the communities and influencers related to the niche.
