As the world starts to open back up, self care is more necessary than ever. And nobody is utilising that more than fast fashion brands... This episode we explore what self care as a concept really means and how we can differentiate healing practices that allows us to feel more grounded and the empty top tips that companies try and sell us! Kika talks about how cooking spaghetti has taught her more about her chakras than any awakening ever could, while Lucy takes on the big brands trying to weaponise our mental health to sell 'little black dresses.'

It's the first instalment of our new series where we investigate stories of people in the spotlight who have committed or allegedly committed crimes behind the curtain of fame/power. This episode we talk about the sexual misconduct trial of Alex Salmond, former first minister of Scotland and leader of the SNP. Although he was found not guilty, there is a lot to unpack within this story and how the trial unfolded. So many people have come out to corroborate the idea that Salmond has acted inappropriately with women throughout his career so is he completely innocent or did he just get away with it?
All allegations in this episode are of course alleged and we are fully aware Alex Salmond was found not guilty. We just wish to look into the trial and also discuss the wider concept of sexual misconduct trials and the judicial system.

This episode we continue on our discussion about social media by discussing the world of influencers. How much responsibility do influencers have on their impact of their followers? Are influencers to blame for our society's fixation on looking 'perfect' ? We have no idea, but we're going to ask Emma Gorman and hold her responsible for all statements made in this episode! Just kidding...

This episode we investigate the rise of social media and how it developed from the innocent platform of sharing pictures and content, to a tool of marketing and influence in society and culture. How much autonomy do we have over social media and its affect on us? I can put the phone down whenever I want, man... We dissect the culture that has been built around social media and whether we think it's more detrimental than it is beneficial. Can you build and tailor a feed that has a positive impact on your mental health or is it best to go cold turkey all together?

tw// this episode discusses themes surrounding sexual assault/violence against women
We are bringing you this extremely important episode in collaboration with @tomstotes to raise money for Women's Aid and continue the discourse around violence against women. We discuss the eruption of anger and conversation that has come out of the recent and tragic murder of Sarah Everard. We dissect society's perception of this gender issue and whether it's seen as one gender's burden to carry more than the others. Lucy shares her experience with sexual assault and how men's attitudes/language/behaviour not only have impact but are direct expressions of a wider disregard to women as a whole.
For anyone who feels as though they may be in a situation/relationship where they are unsafe or need guidance please visit the women's aid website for resources.

It's the highly anticipated Dead Talk vs The Monarchy rematch! Just kidding... (unless?) This episode we dissect the, now viral, interview with Meghan Markle, Prince Harry and Oprah surrounding their departure from the royal family and the racial discrimination Meghan received from both the institution and the British press. We discuss the way that racism is expressed in the British public and the methods it uses to disguise itself as 'part of the job.' What power does the British monarchy have left? And is there still a place for this archaic institution in modern Britian?

Lucy opens up about her struggles with severe depression and how alcohol has affected it. We discuss the journey of a healthy balance between having a good time and the need to 'take it too far.' We're not there yet by the way...

Put your tin foil hats on and pack your overnight alien bags because this week we’re talking about the infamous cult, Heaven’s Gate. This episode Lucy does a deep dive into how Heaven’s Gate started and everything surrounding the still shocking and mysterious mass suicide that occurred in March of 1997. One of the most infamous incidents in the history of cults. We cover it all in this episode from the leader of Heaven’s Gate, Marshall Applewhite’s criminal background and whether the cult’s followers were deluded or maybe onto something…

This week we dive head first back into true crime with the bikini killer also known as The Serpent. This case has recently been told through the BBC series, ‘The Serpent’, as it follows the notorious serial killer who targeted over 12 people in Asia during the 1970s. Kika takes the reins in this episode detailing all the murders and just how this one man got away with it for so long. Turns out, charm and an equally psychotic girlfriend definitely helps. Not everything is as simple as it seem... including Gypsy Rose. After years of being force fed aggressive medication, mental and physical abuse and being forced to live a lie which meant you had to be wheelchair bound pretending to have the mental age 10 years younger than you actually are - you would be pretty pissed huh? This episode we unpack not only the murder of Dee Dee Blanchard but the bizarre circumstances which led up to it. We butcher the term Munchausen Syndrome about 15 times and Lucy compares her getting appendix surgery to Gypsy Rose's life somehow...
We'd also like to issue a trigger warning. This episode does mention things of a violent nature such as rape, murder and abuse (specific family abuse) so if that's something that might upset you or trigger you in anyway then feel free to skip this episode and we'll see you next week!

When somebody says the spirit of their dead best friend is possessing their body at night to reveal who murdered them, what do you say? Oh, cool! This episode your hosts discuss the case of Teresita Basa and how her murderer was found by a series of sleep walking revelations from Teresita's spirit. There's a lot to cover in this episode, especially the bit about Ratatouille and how it is the best film ever made. This is not up for discussion.

We're back baby! After a 2 week hiatus, your favourite self-identified unprofessional true crime podcasters are back. We're back with a bang as this episode your hosts discuss the tale of Guinness World Record's claimed most prolific serial killer recorded in history. This savage killed over 600 young slaves in the most torturous ways and had a good time doing it. Lucy and Alex also reminisce on simpler times such as before we knew Will Young was gay and the very first time you watched Christopher Walken's performance in Hairspray. An experience I would personally kill my own family to relive.

This episode your hosts are drunk and opinionated! Which, to be honest, is exactly how they act most episodes. This week Lucy and Alex discuss the face of the Anti Death Penalty movement of the 1980's even featuring in TIME magazine. With each gin poured the conversation gets more heated and less comprehensible discussing the police system, the sustainability of the death penalty as a system and Alex becoming a crime scene photographer... Take a few shots with them and buckle in.

Arguably France's most brutal sisters in history, the tale of Christine and Lea Papin is a rollercoaster! This week Lucy and Alex get increasingly drunk while trying to manoeuvre through a story of incest, murder, nuns and some extremely French names, it's a mess. These two house maids had had enough of folding socks and washing floors and boy did they make it known. Make sure you've got a strong stomach and a drink to join in while your hosts tell this gruesome tale of one of the most notorious murder cases in France's history.

This week your hosts discuss the unsolved death of Cindy James. An elusive case that involves all the clues for a murder but without any clues of a murderer... So you're thinking, a murder where the killer hasn't been found? That's not rare, silly intern that Lucy and Alex can most definitely pay to write these episode descriptions! Well, to that I would say, but what if there was evidence pointing to the possibility that Cindy might have staged multiple attacks prior to her murder and even the death itself? Also, I don't get paid enough. Let us know what you think happened once you've listened to the episode!

As requested by a listener, this week Lucy and Alex cover the wild and tragic life of Mata Hari. A woman who brought exotic dance to the forefront of mainstream entertainment in the early 1900s by branding herself as a Hindu princess and advocate of embracing sexuality. She based her entire act around an ethnicity she didn't really have. Your hosts explore the tale of Mata Hari and whether this culturally appropriating sex symbol turn WWI spy for French Intelligence was guilty of exploiting a culture or victim to Europe's fascination with the 'exotic East' including Mata's dark features and tanned skin. More importantly, the name Catarina Ten Hooves is discussed as possibly the best alias ever and how Alex is now leader of the Glasgow young team.
