  • Hello, hello everyone! This is a little bit of a mash-up episode with DogEared Book Club and my other podcast, Embody Your Soul. If you haven’t heard of Embody Your Soul, it is an off-shoot of my Psychic Medium practice, and a place to play, learn and expand spiritually. This guest / DogEared Leader is Krista Williams; co-host of Almost 30, Almost30 Membership and the creator of The Life Edit.

I was a part of Krista and her co-host, Lindsey’s, program, Your Podcast Pro. This was a 9-week intensive to either get your podcast off the ground or re-vamp it. At the time, I just had DogEared Book Club. But now that I have Embody Your Soul, and it’s the absolute perfect podcast for Krista to be one, I just had to take the opportunity.

I take the opportunity to dive into books and the important pieces of literature in Krista’s journey. We then get into the spiritual goodness—living with integrity, spiritual red flags, how to live aligned for you and your peers.

  • Welcome to the April Bookish Series with the freakin perfect amazing goddess Briana Soler, AKA @bribeatris.

Her aesthetic; you’re wandering a new city after finding a surprisingly amazing coffee shop during your stroll. There’s homie knick-knack shops, artists and street performers playing jazz. You then stumble across this bookstore. The sign is tastefully worn. The window has curated book piles with a casual mess, yet flowers in delicate vases and lamps add an elegant laissez faire. You walk in. It’s warm. It smells of leather, denim and black tea leaves. Vintage furniture provides comfort to the space. Tall, dark wood shelves are lined with used, new, favorites and donations. Some books are even tucked into thrifted cabinets with golden knobs. There’s color, there’s language. It feels like home. It feels like you want to sit here and get to know this place.

I don’t know why I haven’t done this BEFORE. But truly, this is the only way I can describe her aesthetic.

This episode really plucked my heart strings on my Soul guitar. We discuss imposter syndrome as a reader, a creator and a writer. We discuss how fictional tales allow us to find our own. We discuss mood reading and how we read, which our weird reader nuances. We discuss how books have created connections far beyond our definition of joy, in the best way.

I can’t wait for you to get cozy and giggle with us.

  • Thank you, Rachel, for helping me launch my career. Woohoo!

I met Rachel several years ago post-college. I was networking my butt off and I don’t even remember how, but I think I cold-LinkedIn messaged her. I agreed to meet up with her for a mentorship meet-and-greet coffee with her and other young women wanting to network. That morning, thank goodness was a good day for me. She saw my fire and really helped me land a big girl internship as a Copywriter.

Rachel continued to mentor me for a few years. What I really adore about Rachel is her mission is so clear—empowering women in ANY kind of business or venture. After every conversation, I left with high spirits and a fire under my butt.

Any women or anyone at all who wants to network with one of the big shots of Orange County, I urge you to connect with Rachel. Don’t be shy!

    Rachel is unstoppable.

Throughout Svoboda’s extensive 20-year career in advertising, she has led prestigious advertising teams at Amusement Park (formerly DGWB), Phelps, and Saatchi & Saatchi, Los Angeles. She is currently CEO at Sunday Brunch Agency. Rachel is a single mother of two and lives in Huntington Beach.

Rachel is also the CEO and Founder of Lynxx bourbon; a bourbon that celebrates female empowerment. She noticed a huge gap in the whiskey market, and noticed that women turn to wine after a long day. Of course Rachel being Rachel, she wanted to change that.

This year, Rachel was elected as a Board of Director at Working Wardrobes and joined the Advisory Board for Girls Inc. Rachel recently launched a streaming video series called, The Brunch Club, where we raise a glass and champion female talent and leadership everywhere. Rachel was named Women of the year by The National Association of Professional Women. She is currently an official MBA mentor at Chapman University and a featured speaker on the university's inaugural Women in Business Association series.

  • Hello everyone! Welcome to DogEared Book Club. I am your host, Alexandra Shelly, also known as Bebe by many. The mission of DogEared is to connect you all to books, thought leaders and avid readers. I am so excited to be sitting here with you all and to introduce you to this gorgeous human being who I am honored to have as my March Bookish Series.

Her name is Rachel Soo Thow and she is from Auckland, New Zealand. I don't even remember coming across her page but what I do remember is that when we connected, we were both reading/finishing 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami and she's a Kiwi, like my parents! I of course was already in love with her, because she's an absolute VIBE. But she matches MY energy, and we get so excited hyping each other up and talking to each other, and it makes me so happy.

This episode is full of so much goodness. We chat about the loveliness of being alone, her intense shops at the big book sales in her town, our love of books (of course), what the bookish community has brought us, and so much more. It's such a rich conversation. It was also after a really hard day; I almost rescheduled our chat for another time. But I am SO happy I ended up sitting down with her. It brightened my spirits so much–as EVERY conversation I've had so far for the Bookish Series.

Follow her on Instagram at @thelitlist_ and stay tuned for her INSANELY awesome book list to come!

  • I don't think there's enough room to express how obsessed I am with Riley. He's a dear friend of mine from CU Boulder. Particularly, you'll hear a very funny story in the beginning of the episode.

Riley is an Actor and Screenwriter, works for 20th Century!!! He just finished writing for a show, Our Kind of People and is staring in a show on Discovery +, The Book of Queer.

A show that I’m so excited to watch. The fact that we’ve gone from fearless leaders and hidden heroes shaping LGBTQ history, but now there’s a show about it?! It makes me so blessed to be living here NOW.

This episode is BEYOND silly. BEYOND. I really wanted to keep the silliness in this episode, so you can feel like you’re sitting with two dear friends chatting about mental health, books, being an imposter, our love for Haruki Murakami. Totally get it if it’s a bit over the top to you, because we’re a little silly and over the top. But this is what you’ll get.

  • Seriously wow. Episode number 7 y'all. I hope you enjoy sitting down with Antonella on @shitshereads. We go a little off topic, but not even? • HELLO! My beautiful, beautiful peeps. Welcome to the 6th episode of DogEared Book Club. This month, October is blessed with the face, the smile, the brain of Alia Manetta. Not only is she one of my dearest and best friends, but she's an absolute badass.

She is the CEO and founder of AM Studios LLC, a global community of artists, luminaries, and friends who share a passion for art, culture, and giving back to underserved populations and patients. Alia has painted MULTIPLE murals. One was for WeWork, another was for a house in Silver Lake. Also, in the year of 2020, she donated all of her profits to cancer research (can you be more of an angel?)

She also serves as a board member for the American Cancer Society (ACS) Los Angeles Central Coast, the Steering COME-MIT-TEA for Accenture Ventures National Ambassador Program, and is an active volunteer for BrightEdge Ventures, Sundari Mohan Charitable Hospital, and US oncology policy efforts. AND, her 9-5 is a consultant at Accenture.....  Like, alright. So there you have it folks, an absolute superstar!

Sit down with us as she literally starts interviewing ME (like sister, why are you so kind), discusses the books that moved her, why she reads, the importance of reading etc.

Look out for her full booklist, IG takeover and her Group Leader Seminar coming up mid-October. Members, look out for time slots. Non-members, interested? Join the fun and become a member today!
