  • After a hefty hiatus due to personal issues, Feel Everything is back with Season 2!
This season is going to be special. We're living in very interesting times and I think we need music, heart centered conversation and mundane banter more than ever.

In this mini episode, I share why I took an almost 2 year hiatus from the podcast, why I decided to return to the mic (it was kind of scary and hard!), reveal our first guest of the season and chat a bit about the state of the music business today.

The Season 2 Premier with our special guest will air on Tuesday July 2nd. New episodes will continue to drop every other Tuesday until we feel like taking a break!

Check out Season 1 guest Kemba's new critically acclaimed film: "As We Speak: Rap Music on Trial"

From questioning your desires to exploring what it means to be free to quantum physics, our guest takes us where this lyric has taken him and in turn provides a journey for the mind. • The way a song makes you feel is largely influenced by the adventure you had in discovering it or rather, in it discovering you. For some, the adventure looked like landing on a radio dial at the perfect time. For Los Angeles-based Salvadoran Poet, Yesika Salgado, with this particular song, it looked like witnessing a song create a safe space for her father to cry. It looked like realizing how music speaks to the purity of the heart. As a two time National Poetry Slam finalist and the recipient of the 2020 International Latino Book Award in Poetry, this conversation with our guest, Yesika, is undoubtedly poetic.

  • Sometimes you listen to a song and it’s not that deep. However, sometimes you hear a song so deep it moves you to memories, to tears, and to even getting the lyrics tattooed on your body. Founder of Guerrera PR, Marketing & Management, Loren Medina, invites us to experience a song (and specific lyrics) that moved her in ways we hope everyone can experience. This is a vulnerable conversation that touches on childhood, being born to a family of political refugees, healing self-worth & navigating the music industry as a righteous woman.

*Trigger Warning* We discuss mental health and death in this episode. If you are seeking support, you can reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline by dialing 988 in the US.

  • There comes a time where music can feel redundant but then there, also, comes a time where an artist drops a song that breaks the redundancy and feels like a breath of fresh air. For our guest, Paul Cantor, what a song makes you feel says a lot more than what a song is actually saying with words. Author of the best-selling book “Most Dope: The Extraordinary Life of Mac Miller" – his work has appeared on publications such as the New York Times and Rolling Stone, he’s been featured as a music industry expert on numerous podcasts, on today's episode, Paul shares his expansive insights and reflections with us on music that is (and isn’t) felt.

  • They say music is for everyone but is it really? Working in the music industry can feel like a gift and curse because the more you know...the less you feel. Sometimes too much knowledge can strain your relationship with who and/or what you love. Philadelphia-raised Dominican-American multimedia journalist, music historian, clothing designer, and industry culture shifter, Jennifer Mota, gifts us a culturally sound and conscious conversation. An insightful exchange that emphasizes the importance of understanding the history and culture of the music that moves you.

  • Introducing you to your host, Zoila Darton, and to the lyric that inspired the creation of this podcast, episode one is opening the door to season one of Feel Everything and welcoming you in.

As a daughter of two musicians, growing up in and around not just music but the music industry has both strained and strengthened Zoila's relationship with music. After having liberated herself from the business, music once again took Zoila by the heart and singer-songwriter Fiona Apple inspired her to feel everything.

  • We all have a personal soundtrack to our lives. There are songs, albums, and artists as a whole who have defined certain time periods throughout our story - the unforgettable summer, the month spent traveling, the giddy honeymoon phase of new love, the heartbreak, the dark nights of the soul, the rebirth.

The Feel Everything Podcast is here to dive deep into the music that has moved us most - the lyrics that have carried us and the songs that live within us. We’re here to feel it all - the highs, the lows, and the liminal space between. Each episode is centered around a special guest, their favorite song lyric, and what it means to them. We see this show as a place for discovery and connection through music.
