Episode Title:🇳🇴Happy New Year? Not So Greenꪶꪖꪀᦔ on International Law🇳🇴

Heads Talk® is currently on a scheduled break, but this episode was released out of necessity. The timing, severity, and geopolitical significance of recent events made this a conversation that could not wait.

My guest, Erik Solheim, is no stranger to the Executive Podcast. A statesman, former Norwegian minister, chief negotiator, and diplomat, Erik has led peace processes, shaped global environmental policy, and worked at the highest levels of international governance. Few voices are better placed to offer clarity at this moment.

This episode is a candid analytical debate about where the world is heading, what has changed, and what we should realistically look forward to. It examines geopolitics as it is, not as we wish it to be, and how nations, institutions, and citizens navigate an increasingly uncertain global landscape. Serious questions, serious counsel, but also clarity, perspective, and a reminder that understanding is still our first line of defence.

Episode Title: 🇬🇧Economics of Advice - The Changing Role of Management Consultants in the Professional Services Industry🇬🇧

🌎PLEASE NOTE HEADS TALK HAS TAKEN A BREAK AND WILL BE BACK EARLY IN THE NEW YEAR.

This special end-of-year episode of Heads Talk® I am joined by three gentlemen I’ve known for decades, former colleagues, industry peers, and each a respected voice in the evolution of consulting. In the spirit of the season, you might even say I’ve gathered three wise men to help us navigate where professional services go next in the age of AI.

Craig Walker, Chris Gant, Eddie Short: Between them, they’ve led major global transformations, shaped technology strategy in the Big 4 (KPMG, EY, Deloitte), and held C-suite, board and leadership roles across organisations such as Shell, O2, Capgemini, Salesforce, and more. Now, they’ve come together to build a new kind of consulting firm: lean, senior-led, and AI-era ready:- Veles Consulting.

This conversation isn’t about automation or incremental efficiency. It’s about reinvention - the new economics of advice, the erosion and rebuilding of trust, and whether agile boutiques are truly challenging the Big Firm model… or simply rewriting the rules with smarter tools.

As one of my final episodes of 2025, with Christmas around the corner, it felt only fitting to close the year in conversation with three people I’ve known, respected, and collaborated with for years. It’s a sharp, lively, insider discussion about what consulting was, what it is, and what it must become in the age of agentic AI.

Stay tuned. This one lands with impact!!

    Topics Covered:
◽️ Is the Traditional Consulting Model Broken? What Changed from the 80s, 90s, 2000s?
◽️ Why Trust Is the Defining Issue of AI Adoption and Has Consulting Lost It?

    Episode Title: 🇺🇸Symbiotic Intelligence🇺🇸

We have a timely and thought-provoking discussion for you today on Heads Talk®. There’s been a lot of noise lately, headlines, commentary and opinion pieces; all circling the question: 𝔸𝕣𝕖 𝕨𝕖 𝕙𝕖𝕒𝕕𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕥𝕠𝕨𝕒𝕣𝕕𝕤 𝕒𝕟 𝔸𝕀 𝕓𝕦𝕓𝕓𝕝𝕖 𝕓𝕦𝕣𝕤𝕥? Everyone seems to have a view, so I wanted to bring in someone with gravitas who truly sits at the intersection of experience and innovation. someone who has seen the cycles, the hype, and the real potential of this technology.

My guest today is Stan Sthanunathan, a seasoned insights and marketing leader with a truly global perspective, known for redefining how some of the world’s most recognised brands understand consumers. With a career spanning The Coca-Cola Company and Unilever, where he served as Executive Vice President of Consumer & Market Insights until 2021 , Stan came out of retirement to found i-Genie.AI, an enterprise bringing real-time, AI-powered insights to business leaders worldwide.

In this episode, we looked at the current state of AI: is it reaching a saturation point, or are we only scratching the surface and at the beginning? Is this “bubble” narrative overblown, or are we edging toward a market correction? And, of course, I couldn’t resist throwing in a few philosophical questions about humanity’s relationship with AI, our level of control, and the broader meaning of innovation itself. I loved this exchange; it was sharp, grounded, and occasionally existential. Pretty much how we like it here on Heads Talk®.

Expect a dynamic conversation that bridges business, technology, and the human condition.

    Topics Covered:

◽️ AI hallucination and the fight for data truth
◽️ The human in the loop and the ethics of agentic intelligence
◽️ Turning AI insights into business action at speed and scale
◽️ Storytelling, intuition and the enduring human edge in a data-saturated world

◽️ Designing AI that teaches humans to think better, not less

Episode Title: 🇧🇷The Pix Paradox: Small Transactions, Global Ripples🇧🇷

This episode is a crossover, a hybrid, a merger of the two concurrent series running on Heads Talk®: the BRICS & Geopolitics Series and the Money 2020 Riyadh Conversations. Consider it killing two birds with one stone, bringing together insights from global geopolitics and the forefront of fintech innovation. I had the privilege of hosting this installment as my personal contribution to the Money 2020 Riyadh series, capturing perspectives from a pivotal moment on the global stage, with Brazil very much on the map today where we unpack the 'Pix Paradox'.

A truly fascinating discussion. We looked at the quiet revolution of Pix, Brazil’s digital payments innovation, which is transforming the country’s spending culture while sending ripples across the globe.

What began as small, everyday transactions has grown into a force reshaping money and commerce, connecting local merchants to international markets, and redefining financial inclusion across LATAM and beyond. From Pix Roaming to recurring payments, we trace how Brazil’s ingenuity is influencing global payment infrastructures, showing that digital finance is not just a tool for transactions, it's so much more than money. They are instruments, if you like, of connection, opportunity, and soft power. Though my guest would argue that it's less about politics and more about business. Listen for that bit of the conversation/argument!

I was completely captivated by the story of Brazil’s digital payments revolution and taken aback but the insights delivered by today's guest.

Ralf Germer, the CEO of PagBrasil, Brazil’s leading payments technology company, joins me in this fascinating series. With a career spanning international business development, product marketing, and entrepreneurship, Ralf has been at the forefront of reshaping Brazil’s payments landscape.

Under his leadership, PagBrasil has pioneered innovations like PagStream, International Pix, and Pix Roaming. Tools that are connecting local merchants to global markets and advancing financial inclusion.

    Topics Covered:
◽️ Brazil’s digital payments revolution and the rise of Pix
◽️ PagBrasil’s role in connecting local merchants to global markets
◽️ Cross-border innovation and the expansion of Pix Roaming

Episode Title: 🇳🇴Green Realpolitik in a Fatherless World🇳🇴

We continue the BRICS & Geopolitics Series on Heads Talk® with a former Norwegian Government Minister, now a renowned political commentator, green advocate, veteran Chief Negotiator and Diplomat to explore the world’s shifting balance of power.

My guest, Erik Solheim, is a statesman who has shaped landmark environmental laws, led peace talks across continents, and driven global reform from Oslo to Nairobi.

He served as the sixth Executive Director of the UN Environment Programme and Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, leaving a lasting imprint on international environmental policy. Today, as President of the Belt & Road Green Development Initiative, he sits at the nexus of diplomacy, sustainability, and geopolitics. Together, we discuss the evolving relationship between the US and BRICS nations, with focus on China and India , including what can only be termed as a “marriage of convenience” between the two, and where that partnership may lead.

We also discussed how environmental diplomacy is becoming the new language of power, how everything is diplomacy, and what a “fatherless world” really means for the global order.

Such a fascinating hour with my guest. Recorded just after that infamous Global South summit and the European leaders’ meeting with the US President.

Episode Title: 🇺🇸Reshuffle: Navigating Shifting Goalposts in a Restacked World🇺🇸

This week, Heads Talk pauses the BRICS & Geopolitics Series for a conversation that demanded its own stage, so much so it became a two-parter. Reshuffle.

The episode echoes earlier chats with previous guests, where philosophical “hideouts” were intentional, not accidental. Here, we cover beyond the technical into societal, geopolitical and the human. Many would argue the real impact of AI on business and life, reflecting themes from my guest’s new book.

Sangeet Paul Choudary, author of Reshuffle: Who Wins When AI Restacks the Knowledge Economy, shapes thinking globally, from advising governments to influencing policy at the World Economic Forum, the G20, and across Europe and Asia. Scholar meets strategist, he unpacks some of today’s most pressing and profound shifts in this space.

We discuss how AI isn’t just changing business models, it’s reshaping the foundations of economies and societies. Expect a conversation where research, policy, and practice converge, offering fresh perspectives on risks, opportunities, and human meaning in a reshuffled world.

I had early access to Reshuffle, which allowed me to craft the flow of this conversation. Thanks to Tripta Dutta for making it happen, and to Paolo Sironi for the introduction. When Paolo recommends a guest, you listen.

Links to Sangeet’s book in the comments. This is a Reshuffle week on Heads Talk. If that's not enough, check out Paolo’s Banker’s Book podcast, where Sangeet shares use cases on AI’s impact.

    Topics Covered:
◽️ Why Reshuffle arrives at a pivotal moment for the knowledge economy
◽️ Playing the right game: spotting when AI changes the rules of competition

Episode Title: 🇿🇦African Women: Architect of Trade “A Miracle Built On Unity"🇮🇳

We continue the #HTBRICSSeries on Heads Talk with a formidable business leader whose influence spans construction, manufacturing, energy, and international trade.

HRH Princess Lebogang Zulu is the Executive Chairperson of the BRICS Women’s Business Alliance South Africa and the President of the Expanded BRICS Women Foundation. She is also the:

Vice President of the India–South Africa Chamber of CommerceChairperson of Africa Women’s Bank (Private) LimitedExecutive Director of Kampara Industries Holdings; and Chief Executive of Kokozu International.

With over two decades of leadership, she has championed women’s economic empowerment across Africa and the BRICS nations, spearheading a $2.7 billion initiative in 2023 that created over 120,000 jobs for South African women entrepreneurs.

We explored Africa’s evolving role in the BRICS+ framework, highlighting the shift of African women from beneficiaries of inclusion to architects of continental and cross-border trade. Discussions examined deepening economic ties with Russian and Indian partners, particularly in energy and manufacturing, and how South Africa’s expanding commercial footprint in India is reshaping trade flows in exports, transport, and logistics. We also assessed how US tariff shifts have driven BRICS+ nations to strengthen intra-bloc trade, build trust, and reduce reliance on the West. The reduction in aid, rather than a setback, has accelerated Africa’s push to design its own trade architecture, prioritising continental integration while engaging global partners as equals.

Episode Title:🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿Geopolitical Tortoise and Hare Race🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Another captivating episode in the BRICS & Geopolitics Series (#HTBRICSSeries) on Heads Talk where we explore the shifting landscape of money, trade, politics, conflict, and the technologies shaping the next global order.

This week, I’m joined by David Sime, Chief Innovation Strategist at Invantage Ltd, with over 25 years’ experience spanning international markets, emerging technologies, and education. David has advised global institutions on navigating technological and geopolitical disruption, leading projects in AI, XR, Digital Twins, post-quantum encryption, and advanced energy systems. All with a focus on real-world impact and societal resilience.

In this conversation, we marry AI sovereignty and safety with the rise of BRICS+ and the cyclical nature of empires. Topics that might seem worlds apart, yet intersect at every level. From the cultural and political dimensions of surveillance technology to the contrasting innovation models of East and West, David takes us deep into how emerging tech both shapes and reflects global power shifts.

We ask: Can Western innovation, constrained by shareholder short-termism, compete with BRICS nations’ state-aligned, long-horizon strategies? How will AI governance evolve in a multipolar world? And what can history’s great power cycles tell us about the future we’re building?

    David's Post Mentioned here

    Topics Covered
◽️ Career transition from global market analysis to technology and education
◽️ Tragedy of the Horizon and Western short-termism in innovation
◽️ Western shareholder stranglehold on innovation versus BRICS+ rapid development model

We continue the #HTBRICSSeries on Heads Talk with a dynamic C-suite leader, investor, and influential figure in Africa’s tech, finance, and impact investment Ecosystems.

Dr. Frank Aswani is the CEO of the African Venture Philanthropy Alliance (AVPA), a pan-African network mobilising capital grants, debt, equity, and expertise, to drive social impact across the continent.

He’s leading efforts to raise a $200 million catalytic fund to unlock at least $2 billion in private investment for African social enterprises.

In this episode, we look at Africa’s evolving role in the shifting landscape of global governance, where BRICS+ offer new opportunities but also familiar risks. While partnerships with BRICS nations can bring alternative financing and market access, the focus must first be on building strong intra-African trade, value chains, and industrial capacity, ensuring infrastructure deals protect sovereignty and drive long-term growth rather than decades of dependency.

We discuss the leadership, strategy, and entrepreneurial spirit needed to make this shift, starting in schools and extending to the negotiating table, so Africa can move from being a supplier of raw materials to a driver of innovation, manufacturing, and sustainable prosperity.

    Topics Covered:
◽️BRICS+ expansion and Africa’s role in shaping global governance

Episode Title: 🇨🇳Osmosis: The Unbroken Self🇳🇱

We rarely pause to see those caught in between the acceleration of AI and the shifting of Geopolitical lines - the living bridges silently carrying the weight of nations.

Sometimes, a conversation about technology stops being about machines and progress and instead reveals the quiet, very real toll on a human holding 2 worlds together.

This is one of those conversations.

What began as a standard episode recording that quite quickly became something far more profound.

My guest didn’t just speak about digital transformation, the strategic dance of cross-border innovation, and geopolitical manoeuvring, he actually embodied it! The dialogue shifted from mechanics and marvels of tech to something deeply human. I found myself listening not to expertise alone, but to a person who has become a living bridge between nations.

Through this exchange, I witnessed the toll such a role can take, the weight of carrying two flags in an age dominated by AI and relentless digital progress. It made me wonder: how many other unseen bridges walk among us, silently holding worlds together while bearing the unspoken cost of connection?

We often say, “this is a must-listen,” but this episode truly earns it. Beyond what you’ll hear on the mic, there were moments of candour, vulnerability, and rare insight. For that, I’m grateful to my guest, whose honesty turns this discussion into something far more resonant than a technical exploration.

    ___

John Lin is a rare, compelling figure. Someone who walks the fault line between East and West, carrying with him a dual cultural identity (Chinese and Dutch) that few can navigate so seamlessly; building bridges along the way. But that balancing act is never straightforward. In boardrooms and negotiations, the question looms: Which self do I lead with? Which identity wins the deal?

It all started as a clinical exploration of bridging East and West in commerce and innovation, then it quickly changed. What emerged wasn’t just the mechanics of deal-making across hemispheres, but the PERSON who is the bridge. And in that space, the questioning stopped being tactical; it was human.

As mentioned, this is not your standard Heads Talk episode. But in the BRICS & Geopolitics Series, we have to talk about blurred lines and border crossings, not only for trade and diplomacy but for people and minds.

Humans moving across cultures are like osmosis and diffusion in motion, reshaping the space they enter and carrying traces of each place they’ve been.

I relate deeply to John’s journey. I too have felt the weight of expectation, the silent request to perform for approval. But with age, time, stubbornness and a sharper instinct for self-preservation, I’ve learnt to resist.

For every John out there: walk into those less-than-welcoming spaces and deliver your genius - nothing else. That’s the bridge. That’s enough.
